  • I like that you accomplished the style without raking or combing the gel throught...I love the "wash and go" style but I hate the time it takes to rake or comb it through the hair. I never thought of just smoothing the hair and shaking apart. I also liked the use of oil to help pre-smooth the coils before applying gel to hold. Great vid

  • It's refreshing to see a video that shows techniques that work using products that are reasonably priced. Where can I find these products? Keep good results coming!!

    studiofixz@yahoo.com

  • @callstudiofixz Information on where you can purchase these items are in the description box.

  • Your hair is as beautiful as you are, I cannot wait to try your method.

  • i love how informative this video was..i have an appt with Shida coming up so i am very excited!

  • @YGW24 Yay!!! Who is this?

  • you are so funny...your hair is gorgeous!!!

  • Do you think Vital conditioner works better than knot today?

  • Thanks for sharing.

    Looks good.

  • This is one of the best videos I have seen for curl popping techniques! Quick Question: did you hair maintain it's softness by the end of the day with these products?

  • @Mikimch05 Yes, it does stay soft. The trick to get soft (not dry & crunch hair) is the application of the natural oil prior to applying the gel.

  • applause girl friend applause!! LOL!

  • thanks for turning me on to the vital plus condish. really liking it for an inexpensive alternative to the 40 condish a lot of people are using.

  • I'm glad it's working for you. Vital Plus Herbal Organics is the best "cone-free" smoothing conditioner I've ever used.

  • weird watching you do your hair while in the shower but good tutorial. ashea products are out of maryland where i live so i use their products all of the time. they make a really good live in conditioner as well, also in a spritz bottle.

  • I use the Ashea leave-in conditioner when I do my twists during the cooler months, right before applying the Ashea Shea Butter Pomade.... GREAT PRODUCTS! I know the owner of Ashea personally, and he's great!... Treats me like his #1 customer, Great customer service.

  • During the warmer months, I co-wash my hair about 2 to 3 times a week, but only deep condition & fully detangle with a wide-tooth comb & Denman brush once a week. For the other mid-week washes, I just do a light co-wash & lightly detangle with my fingers. I don't wash my hair as often during the colder months though.

  • the begining of the vid had me laughing so hard!! I have a problem with the shrinkage too so thanks for the advice. I actually have all of these products but I haven't been using them properly or together so thanks for that too! It's amazing when you become a product junkie and forget what you have. I am changing my shower to have the removeable nozzle like you have. It makes it easier for the wash and gos. 100 stars for this vid!!

  • I love my handheld showerhead! It keeps my shower walls clean and clear from all the conditioner and hair product gunk I use while in the shower, plus I like having control of the water flow and how it's applied to my hair and body. The main reason why I changed my showerhead was to be able to rinse the shower walls after every shower. You say you have all the products in this vid...I'm curious as to where you purchased them. Let me know how they work out for you when you use the together.

  • I got the Vita Plus quite a while ago at Big Lots. My gf gave me the oil (not sure where she got it from but she used it when she had micros). She gave it to me when I had my kinky twists in. Instead of Labella (which I saw at Walmart) I have Ecogel when I got at a local beauty supply in Chicago. This stuff has been sitting in my linen closet along with God only know how many other things that I have purchased.

  • Thanks for the info!

  • no prob

  • Awesome! Thanks so much for your valuable tuts :)

  • My pleasure!

  • I'm in DC. Did you get pretty other than the V05, did you get pretty much all of these products from a normal beauty supply store? Thanks and your hair is gorgeous!

  • VO5 can be found practically anywhere, but you will not find the other products at your normal beauty supply store. You may be able to find La Bella clear gel at Walmart or another alcohol-free clear gel at your beauty supply store, like EcoStyler for instance. You may also be able to find Vital Plus conditioner at your local Big Lots, but the Ashea spray oil will not be found in local stores. Ashea products would have to be ordered online or thru me, unless you live in the DC, MD area.

  • Can this method/products be used on a 1 inch TWA? I may also use this on my daughters hair. Which products do you like the best..these or the Curlz 4-step program? I still haven't deceided which products to use.

  • Most def will work on ur TWA & daughter's hair. For my hair texture & curl type, I like the 3 products best of the the Curl Gel-Les'c to define my curls cuz the gel (in the 3 products for $21) gives me the weight & elongation I like. Perhaps if I used the Curls Whipped Cream as my curl definer instead of the Curl Gel-Les'c I may get the elongation I like, but never used the Whipped Cream yet. I'll prolly do a review of the Curls Whipped Cream very soon.

  • I tried this method and really liked it. I found that my hair just does not do well with wash and go styles. My hair is below shoulder length and it coils up to about 1 ot 1 1/2 inches. I have to do a stretch style or I look like I got a TWA almost. I have just come to the realization that my hair shrinks 90% and wash and goes aren't for me. Thanks again for the vid and I will keep watching!

  • R u using enuf gel, cuz gel is what gives me elongation, especially after smoothing hair with the Vital Plus conditioner which really stretches & defines my curl, then gel holds in place & gives my hair weight to elongate curls resulting in less shrinkage. A final cold water rinse may help elongate even more... just don't dry with towel. blot with t-shirt, & don't touch while wet cuz will frizz. Otherwise, Ashea Shea Butter Pomade I sell really stretches out my hair when I do my twists/twisouts.

  • I am so sorry it took me so long to get back to you. My curl pattern is so tight that it would take more gel than I am comfortable putting on my hair. I am seriously considering using KCCC to see if it will weigh my hair down enough. Plus I need to do a protective style again because my hair has seemed to stop growing. I am working it out girl. You are so helpful and I appreciate ALL of your vids. Thanks a bunch!

  • great vid as usual Shida! And it was great to see everything written out for us--it was very clear!

  • Glad u enjoyed it... I'll try to do more writing in my tutorials. I think it's easier to follow along with the steps when they're in writing.

  • Love this vid-sometimes a voiceless, how -to vid is sooo much better!

  • Yes, I agree cuz u can always go back to read what you may have missed... plus I like to talk a lot, and it may start to sound like a lot of blah blah blah... lol

  • yup

  • LOL I love it.

  • Thanks

  • lol! u r sooo crazy!

  • Funny, A lot of people tell me that... lol

  • I'm lovin' this inexpensive hair styling method....

  • This is actually my personal favorite method of doing my wash & go's and defining my curls. I love the elongation & hold that I get, with my curls still being soft & moisturized. Would you be interested in purchasing the products from me for $21 (with a free VO5 conditioner)? Just let me know. :-)

  • I knew someone would have noticed I didn't do the "final" cold water rinse. lol. I don't get as much drippies & don't have to plop (or blot) dry my hair as much when I don't do the "final" cold water rinse. I still did a cold water rinse, but it was after the application of the conditioner, and prior to the oil & gel. I still encourage the "final" cold water rinse if that's what gives you the better results.

  • Girl, you are a product pimp ;o) I am not mad, LOL

  • lol... I'd rather be called a "Product Pusher", thank u very much... lol.

  • I want to try this, but I have some questions: How long did it take to dry? Could you sit under a hood dryer to dry hair? How do you wrap it up at night?

  • My hair is thick & holds a lot of water, so 4 me, it takes practically all day 2 dry. It's usually completely dry by the time I get hme frm wrk, but it doesn't bother me. I don't mind walking around with wet/damp hair, especially in summer. If u don't like walking around wit wet/damp hair, u can either sit under hood dryer 2 dry or blowdry wit diffuser but try not 2 use hi heat. I sleep wit satin cap or uncovered on satin pillowcase, then refresh in morning wit a water (or) water/oil spritzer.

  • This is very helpful! Thanks! I am sorry but I have one more question: I work out and sweat a lot. How would this look hold up?

  • It would hold up fine during your workouts cuz this style loves moisture. I you sweat that much, you may have to do all the steps in the shower everyday or every other day to wash the sweat out, or it may just take a refreshing spritz to refresh the style... but I guess you won't know how it will hold up unless you try it right?... cuz Girl, I don't like to sweat, and I don't like to work out! lol. I need to though.

  • You're funny! Get yourself to the gym! :-)

Thank you sooo much for your replies. I am excited to try this style. I just bought KCCC this week, so will use that instead of your suggested products. Wish your vid had come out before Tuesday (when I bought the KCCC). :-)

  • The KCCC is a great product, and I'm trying my hardest to get it in stock for me to sell and make it available to my customers. Keep in touch, and let me know how you like it.

  • Excellent video!!!

  • Thank u

  • too cute! and I love the Results!!!!!!

  • Thanks! This is my personal favorite way of doing my wash & go's & defining my curls. I love the elongation I get.

  • Girl, this video was GOOD. Very informative. Thank you!

  • You did dat....you did dat!!!

  • Yupperz, I sho did!

  • You GO GIRL!!!!!

  • lol... I take it u liked the vid

  • Wow your hair looks so soft and touchable thanks for sharing!

  • and it is touchably soft

  • What do you mean by "cone-free"?

As in "Vital Plus is an excellent 'cone-free' conditioner."

  • it means it doesn't contain any silicones

  • OH!

    ok, thanks. :o)

  • Ok, will it work on type 4 hair?

  • From personal experience, I can say YES!

  • Don't you just love the Vital Plus conditioner MsCurlyBella?

  • and I say, HECK YEA, it will definitely work on 4 hair!

  • Great tutorial and the results are simply gorgeoussss, thanks for sharing :0)

  • Thanks! =D

  • I really enjoyed that vid. Thanks for doing this demo. I am going to try it today with some of the products I have that are similar. I loved that your vid was very detailed and YOU demostrated what you did since I am a visual learner. Your hair is beautiful as usual :)

  • Please please please share your results with us, especially me.

  • once again fab healthy ,natural , gorgeous afro texture hair love it

  • Thanks Jacqueline

  • Hey! I was just wondering, do you still shampoo your hair? like now that you're on this curly girl thing or do you just do baking soda rinses and ACV rinses and stuff like that?

*lovely results by the way :)

  • NO SHAMPOO FOR ME... too drying, makes my hair too frizzy, and takes too long to get the moisture back in my hair after using shampoo. I only co-wash now, alternating between Suave & VO5 (cheap) cone-free conditioners. I never did try the baking soda or ACV rinses... really never interested me that much since the co-wash does just fine, especially since I'm not using products that cause a lot of build up on my hair. Thanks for the comment!

  • awesome! I was just asking because i haven't pooed since I started this whole thing but I use the vo5 clarifying conditioners on my scalp and i do a baking soda and conditioner treatment every two weeks or so.

  • Hey! You did a great job with this vid! Love the background music also, your is looking really pretty! Nice and healthy! Keep it up! :)

  • Thank girl. btw, I've directed a few TWA's to your channel. I hope they got to you.

  • Look at you! Looking like a model in a hair commercial! Great video! :)

  • lol... That's what I was going for. Hey, maybe one day, I will get an opportunity to be a hair model. You never know right

  • i love your results from the cg method! you are too much girl in the beginning of the video. I love it!

  • lol... gotta make it interesting sometimes right

  • Hello! Gr8 results! I noticed that u use tshirt instead of towel, why?

  • The t-shirt produces less frizz.

  • After reading about some Curly Girls Methods I stopped using towels too and replaced them with shirts. Smooth cotton shirts do not have the rough texture of the towel and unlike even the microfiber towel the smooth cotton will not rob your hair of the best moisture (H2O) you still need to be left on it after a wash. I never attempt to completely dry my hair. I've moved on from shirts to a smooth black t-shirt fabric scarf I found at the clothing store called H&M at my local shopping mall.

  • regular towels cause more frizz and can pull at the hair causing some breakage. i alternate between a t-shirt and an old satin camisoule. another frizz reduction tip is to use cool-cold water to rinse.

  • Your hair is gorgegous!

  • Thanks!

  • Wow! I think that you are so beautiful! And so is your hair, i absolutely love your videos! You are my inspiration, that vid gets 5 stars...question, why are some of your vids over 10 minutes...?

  • Thank you for you beautiful comments. Some of my vids are over 10 minutes cuz I'm a YouTuber Partner, and that's one of the perks we get... Longer Videos.

  • Wow, it turned out nice! Great Video! I might have to try your smoothing technique when I take my braids out!

  • Well let me know how it turns out when you do.

  • what other conditioners are good for smoothing? I have suave humectant and main and tale deep conditioner.

  • The Mane & Tail is a good smoothing conditioner too. I alternate between the Vital Plus & Mane & Tail, but I like the Vital Plus better.
