  • sounds like a sax

  • Yeah man. Some nice ideas and good phrasing and shaping. Something that may help is to not try to play everything on the same dynamic level. I found that the best way for ME to increase the interest, length and intensity of my solos was to back off. Maybe this advice will help. Keep playin man! Kick ASS!

  • Very nice improv. I'm struggling with mine on trumpet (I've only been playing for a few months, 1st istrument is trombone, switched to trumpet for jazz combo). I would like to add that equipment doesen't matter unless you can use it well, and the only way to do that is to practice

  • Shut up. That's not a fact and you're presenting it as one; equipment does matter. Although you don't need top of the line gear, something of excellent quality will be much easier to learn on than something that's hard to play.

You're repeating what parents across the world tell their children so they don't have to buy them something decent.

  • also...nice playing

  • I think the piece does matter. But switching nonstop between pieces is foolish. I currently play on a 3C and have tested numerous GR mp's and it works very well for me. My articulations and fortes are cleaner on the GR. Don't claim the MP doesn't make a difference, but if you have the right fit, you shouldn't change. I think that's what these people putting you down are talking about.

  • I agree!

  • yeah discuss your mouthpiece 'crap' on msn or something, you really are givin trumpet players a bad name, theres nearly one of those silly convos in every trumpet video. ps(french horns better)

  • finally a lad who knows how to hold a trumpet, leaning to his right hand, and plays quite nice.

  • oh my god,the people never will change, The mouthpiece is no Patch or Way to play trumpet With good sound ,the High reg and da good sound comes from you and only YOU !!!!!....

  • Cool. gwfrenay...oooook? all we did was talk about mouthpieces that we use. wtf?

  • I understand the random rant, cause there are a huge amount of people that go crazy about that. My strad and 3C don't really keep me enclosed in any one sound, so i'm happy until I know the sound i want to get, then i'll invest in a more specific kind.

  • Here's an idea--stop bringing shame on trumpet players everywhere buy falling into the stereotype of being so obsessed with mouthpieces and equipment (which, in reality, make up about 5% at most of the quality at which you play) and actually sit down in a practice room. If you're too busy switching horns and mouthpieces, you won't even be able to get a consistent sound anyway. Practice, practice, practice!

  • That's what I use to play on. Then I switched to a 14a4a...

  • Ya i use a 14a4a in the big bands i play in, but in combos I use a bigger moutpiece cause I don't plan on going to high. I got this really cool flugelhorn moutpiece with a trumpet shank that gets a fuzzy and soft sound that i like to use in combo also.

  • im curious what mouthpiece are you using?

  • Just a normal 3c =P

  • you sound good. I'm a trumpet player myself.

  • thanks a lot

  • lol no that was a joke. I assumed that no one would actually watch this video on you tube. I have it on my myspace.
