Remember our dear friend and brother this thanksgiving day. Thanks for all the fun and all the Love Robert. We know where the love is....right with you in Heaven,,,God Bless Donald Cooper , Se.
This is one of my favorit videos, I fell the passion and excitment in their voices when they sing I got your love, Its right here !!!!!! RIP Robert Brookins
This is one of my all time fav slow jams. I really like this version but I also love the Will Downing and Mica Paris version and of course the original with Donny and Roberta.
Great remake! Someone mentioned they don't do duets anymore and that's SO true. The last really good R&B duet was Deborah Cox & R.L. "We Can't Be Friends" and that was ten yrs ago.
My husband and I use to sing this song to each other over our children walkie-talkies, I'd be upstairs and he'd be downstairs, back in the 80's, Not that we could sing or anything, it was just funny.
Chills. Straight Chills! This was my favorite song to sing when I was 14. lol LOVE THIS version. Roberta is awesome and so is Donny Hathaway ... with that said, they passed the torch to the right people. :D
I just listend to Robert Brookins' "Come to Me" 1987 from SoulTrain and I love that song, too, but I didn't know he made that song. He has a fabulous voice and a gorgeous complexion!
I absolutely love this song! Those two together where awesome! Giving credit to them both---Robert Brookins featured Stephanie Mills on this song--his song. So, he knew what he was doing when he collaborated with her. Sad part is that a lot of us don't remember him. Did he make one album and disappear? What ever became of him because his voice is awesome, too?
Ms. Mills is so BADD, the girl got the vocals and the BODY, and Mr. Brookins looked very good in this VID.....I love this vid Paris in the fall.................
This was when music videos had a meaning and not as elaborate as it is today. There were no soft porn and sex scenes to just to try to make a statement. Singers like Stephanie, Angela, Chaka did not have to resort and expose themselves.
Robert Brookins was or is a prolific producer, songwriter and performer who penned "Jesse" for Stephanie Mills on The "If I Were Your Woman" CD..he also wrote and produced for Christopher Williams and The Isley Brothers while being managed by Stephanie's former manager Cassandra Mills!
I really really really like the song "Jesse" i wish i could c a clip of her singing live..it does not even have to be a video clip it can be audio..i cannot stop playing Jesse on my itunes..lol
man, I remember when this record was brand new... I saw them sing it on Soul Train. I thought they did a great job at remaking a classic record, they modernized it without loosing the soulfulness of it. beautiful! :)
Who is this Robery Brookins guy? I like his vocals, and I NEVER....knew this song existed before (that was my attempt at "Never Knew Love Like This Before", lol)
It's crazy that I'm so old that I know this video came from Video Soul just from the titles on the screen. I love this video.
