I love the Italian version. I speak both English and Italian. It is nice to hear the words in English for the people that don't understand Italian so they can listen in Italian and understand the meaning of the song.

It does not matter it is in what version, it is always good to have a mixture of part Italian and part English, so that the audience in USA and lots of other parts of the world can understand. It is not that they sing the whole song in English. So calm down, as it depends on where they are performing. Got to please the audience of the Country they visit ! That is just courtesy ! Wow, the English lyrics really, really don't...fit. I mean, I understand why they chose to sing in English considering that it's Washington D.C., but I think the transitions between phrases and singers just don't work with the fewer syllables. It even makes the vibrato somewhat grating, although that could also be because of the video/sound quality. They've sounded better in every other video I've seen of them.
Jan Werner sings this song....and in a much different style ...both Il Divo and Jan Werner (rest in peace dearest Jan) are able to touch the hearts of mankind with their voices. I much prefer Jan's version for he sang with not only a 'voice' but with his soul and heart.

They call her the Angel of Music because of "the Phantom of the Opera". "Angel of music" is a song from the musical. Though it suits her, because the musical was written FOR her anyways, so you might have a point here.

they're always incredible, their harmonies are always on point and give me chills every time i hear them sing. and while this is a very good performance i prefer to hear them sing it in Italian, the lyrics just don't seem to fit as well and that is in no way their fault.

Ya, we're listening to music, yes, the music. So, don't pick on the language, they were in USA, so of coz they sing in english. The language thingy would only be a small part of the music and what we should concern about, is the passion of the singers. It's good that they have such wonderful vocal skills, that's what singing is all about.

I listened to the Jan Werner, Russell Watson & Paul Potts versions, the Sarah Brightman version, the Il Divo recorded version and this one. Brightman: Delicate and lovely; Watson: mediocre; Potts: even more mediocre; Werner: Beautiful, interesting voice, excellent; English Il Divo version: Enjoyable, but not as good as the Italian. The recorded version is best. Carlos Marin sings the first 1.5 minutes and it just builds and builds. He should do a solo version, it would be fabulous.

The one on the far left sings from his voice box. The other two sing from their lung, not their abdomen. They aren't pushing air and they get a flat tone from it and are often off pitch because of it and rely on a rapid vibrato to compensate which gets them to the pitch at some point during the fluctuation. Don't call me an idiot.

Well, every band or singer has their bad days, even Il Divo. I'm a big fan but this version was bad. I'll disect it for you so you all understand. First of all, they sang it in English, that was the first mistake. Some songs just weren't ment for English and this is one of them. Secondly, they sang it turning it into some kind of patriotic, flag-waving American anthem, which it isn't. So, I believe the combination of those things got 'em. Oh well, I'm still a huge Il Divo fan!

First of all, at the risk of offending you, Carlos is a baritone, Urs and David are tenors, while Sebastian sang mostly pop prior to joining Il Divo. I also do not believe that they ever attempted to outshine or compete with Pavarotti, since he was definitely one of a kind and will be greatly missed in the operatic world of music.

Nella Fantasia is my favorite Il Divo recording; I really love it. Now, having said that, this particular rendition is not the best. The translation does sound forced. Except for Carlos's opening lines, this just doesn't seem to showcase the men's voices very well--harmony seems off. Yet, inspite of this tarnished rendition, Jan Werner has a LONG way to go before he can be considered a semi-serious competitor. Il Divo shouldn't lose any sleep over that one.
This is the greatest song that has been performed by Il Divo. What an amazing group of four great men to sing such a song that has lifted me up. I love this song. I like the other version better.
Il Divo does a better job of this song when not singing it in English--doesn't translate well. Werner does a beautiful version as well. For something truly ethereal check out Sarah Brightman's performance of this song for Pope John Paul at the Vatican.

Ya, we're listening to music, yes, the music. So, don't pick on the language, they were in USA, so of coz they sing in english. The language thingy would only be a small part of the music and what we should concern about, is the passion of the singers. It's good that they have such wonderful vocal skills, that's what singing is all about.

I listened to the Jan Werner, Russell Watson & Paul Potts versions, the Sarah Brightman version, the Il Divo recorded version and this one. Brightman: Delicate and lovely; Watson: mediocre; Potts: even more mediocre; Werner: Beautiful, interesting voice, excellent; English Il Divo version: Enjoyable, but not as good as the Italian. The recorded version is best. Carlos Marin sings the first 1.5 minutes and it just builds and builds. He should do a solo version, it would be fabulous.

The one on the far left sings from his voice box. The other two sing from their lung, not their abdomen. They aren't pushing air and they get a flat tone from it and are often off pitch because of it and rely on a rapid vibrato to compensate which gets them to the pitch at some point during the fluctuation. Don't call me an idiot.

Well, every band or singer has their bad days, even Il Divo. I'm a big fan but this version was bad. I'll disect it for you so you all understand. First of all, they sang it in English, that was the first mistake. Some songs just weren't ment for English and this is one of them. Secondly, they sang it turning it into some kind of patriotic, flag-waving American anthem, which it isn't. So, I believe the combination of those things got 'em. Oh well, I'm still a huge Il Divo fan!

First of all, at the risk of offending you, Carlos is a baritone, Urs and David are tenors, while Sebastian sang mostly pop prior to joining Il Divo. I also do not believe that they ever attempted to outshine or compete with Pavarotti, since he was definitely one of a kind and will be greatly missed in the operatic world of music.

I believe that the reason they started the song with an English version was because they were singing in DC and most people do not speak Italian and they felt that perhaps they should give people some insight into the lyrics of the song. Just my humble opinion of course.

Nella Fantasia is my favorite Il Divo recording; I really love it. Now, having said that, this particular rendition is not the best. The translation does sound forced. Except for Carlos's opening lines, this just doesn't seem to showcase the men's voices very well--harmony seems off. Yet, inspite of this tarnished rendition, Jan Werner has a LONG way to go before he can be considered a semi-serious competitor. Il Divo shouldn't lose any sleep over that one.

Il Divo does a better job of this song when not singing it in English--doesn't translate well. Werner does a beautiful version as well. For something truly ethereal check out Sarah Brightman's performance of this song for Pope John Paul at the Vatican.

I LOVE THIS SONG - What a wonderful surprise to hear it partly in English for the very first time! I almost had a heart attack! Il Divo is my very favorite singing group of all time, and I can't believe they are actually singing it themselves, no lipsync. Wow! They are absolutely amazing! Heaven on earth!! Wow! Wow! Wow!
