  • this game is so simple .. what the f' is he talking about? learn the 29 main 7-letter lists, all the 2 letters words, most 3, kinky 4 and 5 .. balance your rank appropriately on each play.. voila YOU ARE A GRANDMASTER! I DO 23% AGAINST THE WORLD CHAMP PROGRAM WITH THIS SIMPLE METHOD

  • All videos of expertvillage sucks all videos of howcast rocks thumbs up if you agree

  • Hahahahahahahahahaha. "Don't place the V next to the double letter!" Riiiight.

  • Absolutely ridiculous. With the vowel next to the double letter score, people can put the higher point words ON the double letter score (K,F,H,Z,J etc). This is absolutely moronic. The worst thing about it is he doesn't even explain why he does what he does, he just says "it's strategic placement". Maybe if he explained why he was doing it, he might suddenly realise the fatal error. This is really bad. I know everyone else has stated this also....I just wanted to have my say!

  • If the folks at Expert Village had half a brain and one eye open, they would notice the overwhelming number of dislike votes vs. like votes, and find better talent. These people are anything but experts. Has this guy ever read a Scrabble book or played at a Scrabble club?

  • shudnt putting a vowel next to a bonus be worse than putting a v there...?

i mean, virtually any consonant (which has higher value) wud be able to be placed next to a vowel, meaning THEY'LL get bonused instead. but with the letter v, u'll hav VOWELS next to it, so the opponent in this case wud get 2 points instead of...6? 8? 20?

  • Take advice from someone using a non-tournament style board and tiles? I think not.

  • yep he's wrong alright

  • I am not an expert but even I can tell this is very bad advice! Shocking tip!

  • Please don't listen to the advice he is giving, it is completely wrong.

  • This is totally wrong. You don't want to place vowels next to the bonus squares. The V blocks any parallel play so opponent must play through the V to make a word and only one point vowels will be placed on the bonus squares. By placing the I next to a the double letter score, opponent can come along with a parallel play over the G with an an to the I with something like RAX or LAX or even place the Q over the I for big points.

  • This fellow reminds me of another Expert Village "expert" named Austin McBride (look him up). McBride turned out to be a prankster, but I think this guy may in fact be serious. At any rate, expert (or even moderately high-level) Scrabble advice on YouTube is sorely lacking, which is why clowns like this come in and fill the void.

  • This was the worst strategy I've ever heard, he has no clue about competitive Scrabble. Watch only if you want to see how beginners play.

  • @zuba99 What's a better source for learning to play Scrabble?

  • Can I play him in my next tournament please? Please? PLEASE?????

  • I hope I get to play him in a tournament very soon.

  • Has anyone mentioned that it's a really bad idea to place vowels next to premiums squares?

  • this video is an example of what NOT to do. vowels should never be placed near the double letter spaces. putting the V inbetween the double letter spaces would be a WAY better defensive placement, especially since there are no 2 letter words with V.

  • bogus

  • This is dead wrong. The vowels should not be under or above the DL score. There are no 2 letter V words.

  • exactly!! the placement of the E right between the 2 DL scores makes you VERY vulnerable to an X being played on one, with the extension of an i (XI), giving the X 4x the points (32)- come on!!!!

  • I disagree with this tip. If the next player has the letter x, the potential is there to get a double both ways. You can also get a double q by the i.

  • This guy might as well just try to explain quantum physics to Stephen Hawking. Would be just as useful. This sets up BOX for 40 points. ZED for 25 points. Even FE/FE for 18. Ridiculous. The only context these videos would make any sense is if they were posted on April 1st. They weren't. The is the 3rd "ExpertVillage" person I've seen, proving that this village consists exclusively of village idiots.

  • All right, not BOX, but RAX, many things.

  • Playing defensively, LOL. That placement of GIVE is idiotic.

  • Yeah wtf is he talking about? what dangerous word could you possibly make with that V there?

  • Playing defensively? Playing disastrously is more like it.

  • I've seriously learned more reading the comments on these videos than from the actual videos

  • Just flagged this as harmful dangerous act!!!

  • me too haha

  • Looks like this dude is $#up!&...

  • put the vowels by the DLS? This is the stupidest tip ever. This is the second most important thing you NEVER do on an opening play is put vowels between the DLS if it can be avoided.

  • 100% CORRECT!!!

  • this is a bad tip. playing the V over the DLS tile is fine as there are no 2 letter words with V. the vowels have also been left wide open over the DLS

  • worst scrabble tip!!! don't listen to this douche.

  • the vowels are next to the double letter squares, big mistake! you don't know what you're doing!

  • Exactly what i was thinking... This guy is a total noob... and if you look at his website, its about video production.. i mean, how is that a scrabble expert??

  • lol give in that position is worst defensive option.

Both I and E beneath DLS will yield much much higher point than open V.

Playing GIVE also give second player O-hook OGIVE to double word square.

EVEN my 10 years old little brother can playing BETTER than him

  • hehe. btw, love the zildjians on ur back. lol

  • Unreal - There has to be a better Scrabble tutor series than this...

  • VERMIL

  • VIM seems best, as already pointed out. It gets rid of the harder to play V and M, and still leaves a vowel on the rack. This video is awful! You can learn more by reading the comments, which are all correct!

  • No, no, please! GIVE should be played 1 space to the right. You should try to AVOID placing vowels next to the DLS squares on your first turn, as your opponent might drop a high-value consonant on one of those squares going both ways. For example, AX played above the GI of GIVE where you played it, making AG and XI, scores 37 pts. If GIVE is played 1 space to the right, AX only scores 23.

Playing GIVE where you did also gives your opponent the OGIVE hook in the DWS lane to the left.

  • To start things off he had VIM, which,

    a) gives a good GLRE leave, as oppose to LRM, which isn't the most synergetic tandem of tiles,

    b) is defensive and does not give up anything too major for opponent (H and M are the only 3+ point tiles that can go in front of it), and

    c) leaves board tight, so much so that my Turn 2, you'll either be up by a few or down by a few.

  • wow yur not good at scrabble at all!! why would ya leave it so if he has a H,B,M,Y W he places it on the double letter above the E going horizontal w/ a word for 16 plus points.. hahaha you suck.. dont try and give tips when you yourself are not good at all.. stick to connect 4.. better game for you

  • He would probaby suck at Connect 4 too, which is not so simple, actually. For example, if you go in the middle row first, your opponent has a technically lost game if he or she does not play in one of the rows adjacent to the middle row.

  • Isn't it better to place give so that vowels aren't beside the DWSs?
