  • How do you install the pen sensitivity on Ubuntu 10.10 x64?

I used these commands for my Bamboo:

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:doctormo/wacom-plus

    sudo apt-get update

    sudo apt-get install wacom-dkms

The Bamboo works, but I works like a mouse no sensitivity.

    Any help guys?

    Thanks

  • @123456iambelial you have to enable/set-up your tablet sensitivity (it behaves as multiple devices) directly in GIMP and Inkscape. In GIMP, it's in the "Input devices" section in the preferences dialog.

  • @kiddokiddokiddo I went to the Preferences > Input devices.

When I went to Configure Extended Input Devices, it says pressure, X tilt, Y Tilt, Wheel, but I couldn't change the there value from None to 1 or 2.

Also, what mode should I use Disable, Screen or Window?

  • @123456iambelial don't touch the X Y and whatever settings, actually; you just need to set the mode to "Screen" for the devices "stylus" and "eraser" (leave pad/cursor deactivated).

  • Thanks for the upload, i was looking for a vid that shows the tablet in action with tracing and all the other vids SUCK

  • i really need a tabletT_T,..

  • @Testingpointer1 lol i just use the tablet that came with my laptop, or my finger (finger is harder O.o)

  • lol the music.....colloses game great work

  • Good job. I enjoyed this little episode. =3

  • i'm searching for such a painting plate...

i don't know how it's called and where you can buy them... can u help me?^^

  • Drawing tablets are available in pretty much any retail computer store. For linux compatibility, you should be looking for tablets made by Wacom.

  • How do you trace?

  • I draw the "sketch" on a layer in GIMP with my tablet, then when I'm done I set the laper transparency to 10-20%, create a new layer, and draw clean lines on top.

  • tight

  • that's really good. I like how you did the hair gradients

  • Thanks, much appreciated :) I daresay that using layer masks for doing hair coloring with subtle gradients changed my life, I use them more and more.

  • how did you get your wacom tablet to work with ubuntu, pls?

  • It works out of the box with versions 9.04 and newer. You may need to go in GIMP's "input devices" preferences and tweak some stuff (but usually not), and then just enable various pressure-sensitive properties of the tool you are currently using.

You may also be interested in the program "MyPaint" which can easily be installed on Ubuntu, and is designed for tablets.

  • thanks thats great news. i'm gonna install it next week. tried dual boot with windows xp but PC doesn't like it. Ubuntu stopped working after a couple of times. working with windows for now

Combien de temps ça t'as pris? En tout cas chapeau ;)
