just to clarify, this is an adobe air app, so you'll need the adobe air application first, which is a free install and has lots of cool programs you can download.
google wave is a real time chat/email client, it was open to a select few beta testers this year(not me unfortunately :/). The thing thats new about this is you can chat in real time, and see changes, its all very interesting. Definitely look at other videos talking about it, some of its features are very cool.
