  • I remember this SO WELL, on CAPALDI.s Coffee Bar -Juke Box in Park Road, Dingle, Liverpool 8. I was about 15 & played THIS time after time or as long as a few spare Sixpences lasted ! Later we would ALL go to THE CAVERN to see SO MANY Merseybeat Groups, YES THE BEATLES included, MANY Many Times,,What Wonderful INNOCENT DAYS they were , Kenny Thompson,

  • brings back memories of car rides with my parents... whether or not it was their gimmick... still think its a retarded dance...

  • Freddie was always a delight. I was quite surprised to see who is with him here. :-0

  • Frankie's off

  • When I saw this, it made me smile! Thinking back, parents HATED this stuff and thought it was frivolous and nonsense. It was the rebellious youth music of the day. Today, rebellious music is rap, hate music and full of anger and violence. What a difference...

  • @ACEactivities Your parents were right. Just as you are about rap.

  • @ACEactivities Freddie was a little nut who made a bundle of money with his little trademark dance. Good for him, but shame on Frankie and Annette! They just look stupid and out of place.

  • @Alikah1 I think the idea is to look stupid. I think people were less serious in those days and happier than we are now. That's what my parents tell me anyway!

  • Long time since I've seen so many people make arses of themselves on TV, but that was great, brought a smile to my face. Innocent times or what?

  • Silly, ridiculous and LOADS OF FUN. Thanks for posting. Freddie never seemed to take himself too seriously. Wonderful!

  • The dance was a bit gimmicky, and fun; But the bottom line is that this was a great song.

  • I LIKE THE DANCE!

  • Looks like he's copying off of Soupy Sales! But that was their "gimmick". They were really cool back in the day! :)

  • not even mr bean could dance better than this ! or should i say worse? lool

  • very sharp dressers as well!

  • I loooveee this lyric is just awesome

  • It a great oldie for Karaoke Too !!!!

  • bet he was rubbish at sports :)

  • 4 people are clueless on how to have fun. Geek rock before David Byrne!

  • That take Me back I saw them in Maidstone when Freddie had his leg in plaster from a fall off the stage, he was still great

  • They were a fun band, and music these days is over-produced and no one can play, sing, or do whatever!!

  • Great old tune, even if they dance like white people...

  • One of the great British bands of the sixties. In 1964 I was nine years old and I loved to see him on t v he always had me in hysterics .

  • so sweet, I miss the happy love songs.

  • Brings back memories and Annette is and always will be a babe. ;)

  • good tune-dumb dance-anything for a buck!

  • Jumpin Jacks everybody!

  • Used to listen to this all the time from the time I was about 5. My dad had the 45 AND the 78!!!!! Can't remember what the B-side was.

  • The dance step is called the Freddie, I remember this. I was very little but I remember dancing it. They were also on the Ed Sullivan show!

  • Oh No!!!

  • NOBODY DOES THE "FREDDIE" BETTER THAN FREDDIE !

  • @ChampagneCraig SWEET!

  • Popular music was so happy back then!

  • Go f u c k yourself prick!

  • I remember this guy Freddie back then, he was a Certified Clown! LOL. Anything BUT British reserve.

  • R.I.P. Freddie!

  • Straight to my favorites list--thanks so much! Freddy Lives!!

  • That Blonde dancer with the really high kicks is LADA ST EDMUNDS. She always threw herself into the dances. Quite a stunning go-go dancer to boot. Get it?

  • Amazing! xD

  • Spring 1965...

  • 4rth yr high school memories

  • I think they're doing "the freddie". They had a song by the same name.

  • my god...this has to be seen to be believed...

  • This is like the precursor of twee

  • LOVE YOU FREDDIE!!!

  • Saw this last year and again today.........it is a great song and the dance is fun...........not sure if anything like this could be posted nowadays.........

Then again, didn't Jessica ask "Is it Fish or Chicken?" so maybe she could come up with a new dance for us.

  • Thats a great solo there that goes with the vocal melody.Love those tones from guitars and amps of the past.

  • What an awesome song (and memory). Thanks for posting !

  • loool They don't have to do any gymnastics after that show. Cool.

  • It is a cool song!

  • Yeah. But at least in the 60's we didn't have Obama!

  • R.I.P Freddie..

I just love these 60's tunes.. oh to be a teenager in this era..

  • Corny but sooooo cool.

  • I love Frankie and Annette !!! Soooo cute .

  • The last of the innocent years before the USA went to POT...

  • The US is still a good country. The 60's weren't the best time in the world, either.

  • With Frankie and Anette! How cute. I remember this song from when I was five. Me and my cousins would dance along whenever it came on TV.

  • I wonder if David Byrne thought of this when planning Talking Heads 'Once In A Lifetime' video...

  • Life should be this wonderful all the time.

  • Ive seen dances today Hip Hop rap-britnany spears they all look like they cant open their pants zippers and have to pee very bad,-and the music is not in sync

  • This is such a fun video with Annette and Frankie joining Freddie.......

Entertaining without being crude. Thank you soooooomuch!

  • He had to have a niche somehow, and be different in a very crowded venue! It WAS different and fun at the same time!

  • I have no problem with the song. However that dancing is THEEE most ridiculous dancing I've ever seen!

Somebody was hittin' the pipe back in 64!

  • I worked with Freddie as a panto dame in Northampton - We did a song about ghosts? Anyone know it?

    Steve Barclay

  • That was the gimmick for Freddie & Dreamers, they were a fun band back then and different from most of the other British Invasion groups. Enjoy it for what it was meant to be and don't be so critical.

  • @jjohnmil51 I do,and you're right.They were joyous

  • what fun

  • What's he playing at?

  • Hmmm, funny saying it wasn't a good song. It made #1 in the US at the height of the British Invasion, which is incredible considering you had groups like The Beatles and Herman's Hermits dominating the charts in 1965.

  • yeah....not gonna lie, i had to look that up to see if it was correct haha all i have to say is wow. i still think its a garbage song, though. all i listen to is fifties and sixties music. so i know whats up. freddy and the dreamers have no comparison to other "british invasion" artists such as the beatles. not at all...women of that generation just wanted to hear any type of british pop music cuz it seemed so "exotic" and "exciting" to them

  • I'm sure you know what 60s life was when you're only 27.

  • prove me wrong. your only 29

  • I'm not even 29, I'm 16. I just don't make rash and stupid thoughts based on opinion before looking at the facts.

  • ha! im sixteen to! turnin seventeen in a few months! so nice try. and whats wrong with stating your opinion?! thats what everyone else is doing on this thing. so i dont know what ur problem is

  • Exactly, I do know more than you, you had to look up this song to know if it was a #1 or not, which I didn't. Then you say teenage girls on drugs made this song a #1 hit. That's not exactly how the system worked then bud. Radio stations picked up on this song and played the shit out of it, which made #1. Drugs weren't even remotely huge in 1965. 1967 was the year that drugs and flower power hit the fan, dumbass.

  • and as usual...history repeated itself. its just like when those damn backstreet boys or nsync came to town. they were a horrible band but the girls thought they were everything. by the way..... keep in mind that drugs were on the rise in the sixties. WAAAAAY on the rise haha so that could of also played a factor when people were listening to this garbage

  • I remember this song when it came out in Spring 1965. I had just started dating a girl who would 4 years later (1969) become my wife. Quite sure on when it hit the charts-- April-May A really fun song then and now. Days of innocence...

    Thanks for posting.

  • Great song, but stupid, boot-licking fan pandering hijinkks really eat ass.

  • wonderful band but can i just ask. was this because at the time TVs were not very sharp and so movement was emphasised?? :)

  • 1;03 . this is the moment when the jams Bruce Foxton was suddenly inspired . the `jamJump ` was born ! . i want to know who was pulling the strings though . is it a gerry anderson production ?

  • ive tried to resist , i really have , but sorry , i cant contain it anymore ....... FUCKING MENTALISTS !

  • They do say that when a lion or tiger break free in the zoo you should stand perfectly still. On this basis these lot would not last too long

  • Freddie's always good for a smile!

  • Comment removed

  • i always wondered where you got your moves from andy.

  • Today is the 49th anniversary of when this was aired on Hullabaloo.

  • That's Annette and Frankie Avalon dancing with Freddie, wow!!!

  • Correct!! Like you say it's Annette Funnicello and Frankie Avalon.I think they should have practiced the 'freddie dance' a bit more though !!

  • Tres kewl for the time ,,,,,,& now !!!!

  • Great song, great dance, what a great fad. Every hipster rips off Freddie's style these days (minus the kicks).

  • Thanks andybee143, this is AWESOME!

  • Oh my god, how embarassing. I don't mind the song but can't watch them doing that ridiculous dance...

  • :O! That's the coolest dance ever! :D Go Freddie!

  • OMG!!! What were they thinking???

  • So silly and innocent.

  • Man, you got to give them credit for wilfully making such fools of themselves.

  • This band was a massive threat to The Beatles. This video clearly shows us why.

  • This is a very nice song. But the Beatles???Gtt real.

  • I was joking.

  • lol

  • So friggin' retarded. I love it! Did I see Annette Funnicello in there?

    C'mon kids, do the Freddie!

  • This demonstrates that autistic children can succeed as long as they are driven by pushy stage mothers.

  • White people are so funny!

  • These guys (if they are still alive) should have sued Michael Peters who choreographed Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video.

  • Are they retarded?

  • Classic!
