I have stopped for 4 months and yes the Chantix helped. However, I do not reccomend it. Chantix made me do things I am not proud of. Pfizer did the study of chantix for the FDA, that's the fox telling you all the hens are in the hen house while feathers spew from its mouth. Side effects are far more common. I also did a bit better cutting my dosage in half. I do use electronic cigs with no nicotine but only when drinking beer. My weight is also going up.
Glad you were able to quit and get over the side effects. I am still stuggling with some. I lost a substantial amount of hair which I contribute to the drug because it was hurting where it was falling out. Did you experience this as well?
Mine was starting to thin anyway but I don't think the drug had anything to do with it. I would encourage you to lower your dose if you are not smoking or having cravings to see if the side effects lessen.
I stopped taking it in June of '08 and the hair hutinng and falling out just stopped about 2 months ago. I received a ridiculous amount of side effects from Champix; while on it my sleep quality was poor; I would dream all night long and wake up in the morning with my eyes hurting as if I had not slept which made me extremely fatigued throught the day this went on for the three months I took the prescribed amount.
While taking it I bacame severyly constipated to the point I had prostate pain from it and excessive weight gain, I aslo developed a tormenting itchy skin condition which had me thinking I had body lice or something over the last year. When I stopped taking it is when I really got messed up; I became emotionally unstable and suicidal, I developed Hyperacusis ) a constant pain and pressure in my ears and an extreme sensitivity to loud noises,
as stated my hair began hurting and falling out where it was hurting and I felt as though I was losing my mind. My sleep depervation got to the point where my eyes were extremely sore and I hallucinated on one occasion which triggered me to get some sleeping pills (herbal). To this day I still struggle with constipation, hyperacusis, large bags under my eyes, dry itchy skin and dramatic hair loss which really affects me considering I am only 26.
Didn't see this last updated video. So proud of you...8 months - WOW. Kudos to you. I just did 3 posts to your video goal of 16 weeks. Thank so much for doing this video also. Expecting my Chantix very soon in the mail. God bless!
Pills typically are effective for months beyond their expiration date but they can slowly start to lose their effectiveness, especially if they have been stored in the heat or left out unprotected from light. Both heat and light can cause the chemicals in them to degrade. They should be compelely safe to take. I would expect they should still work well for him. Good luck and as always, if your dad starts to get any psychological symptoms he should call his doctor or cut down on his dosage.
Hey Steve, Glad to hear that you are still doing well. On Sept.16th, it will be 8 months for me also. I can't tell you how glad I am that I made the change in my life. I noticed that you said cigarettes are $5.00 a pack where you live. I am in Canada (AB) and they are over $10.00 a pack here. Keep the Quit!!

Correction, the pills are 2 months passed the expiration date. Are they still safe to take? And they are still effective?

You said you were a nurse in one of your videos. My dad started taking Chantix but found out the pills are 2 months old. Are they still safe to take?
