@MonsterNuke not only forcing us, but threatening us with imprisonment or even death if the tasks aren't done, no matter if they're irrelevant to you or not. Everything you learn in school is useless facts and formulas that you either already know or will never use again. it's why school is pointless, because most you learn is irrelevant and uninteresting to you. You have no say in what you learn, or in how you learn it.

@MonsterNuke in college, you're 100% free to choose your own subjects, which is why college is so much better. College makes learning fun, nd it's expensive, but you at least take in some knowledge. In school, the method of learning is simple memorization and spit it back out on the paper, not actual learning. for example, I could learn more from and hour or two watching something educational on the Discovery channel than in a week of school,

@MonsterNuke because the stuff on discovery is actually fun to learn and they make it interesting. thats why it's called Discovery, because the human mind ''discovers'' new things. and in the unlikely event that it gets boring, you can simply change the channel to something else educational and relevant, wheras in school, your're forced to sit there and memorize uleless facts. Thats why the joke of an education system of today needs to be changed....

@MonsterNuke so we can actually gain some useful knowledge out of 12 years of going there. for example, students should have more subject choices, many more, schools should have better facilities, students should be able to make their own hours, only employ enthusiastic teachers, etc etc. this can only be achieved if students today organise to rebel against school, such as organising peaceful protests and refusing to go until the system is changed, because the system is an absolute joke.

School makes interesting subjects boring. Yes education is important, but education does not equal school. In fact, Einstein quoted:

"Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school".

Maybe school would be more useful in our lives if they taught us how to pay bills, save up for a house or car, how to fight (self-defence) rather than teach us random Shakespeare jackshit or quadratic equations.

School is: You sit in a room for 90 mins, writing "the bible" on your notebook from the blackboard, and/or doing piles of exercises.... And then after hours of that, when you are SO tired, the teachers even give you homework to do or some stupid project, and if not you still got to keep studying to now forget when that exam come....

Seriously that the shitiest way of learning IMO! Heck that isn't even learning, gaining knowledge, is training you to be a slave...

I don't think schools are usually made for fun but for learning. If you are actually interested and are engaged then school can be great. Part of it is also how school is portrayed in American Media. Teachers are depicted as apathetic blabbermouths and the protagonist student is usually just barely passing. This causes some kids to hold on to these false perception of school and teachers for the rest of their school days.

The fact that you have to spend so much time doing homework just demotivates me to do it all along. You end up with little time to do the things that you really enjoy. I think that it is time for a major change in the way we are getting educated. Less homework and teachers must make the subjects more appealing to the students!

I cant say if school is boring or not. Yes, sitting there listening to all this blah blah blah crap is boring. But recess and that can be fun at times. Think about field trips and that kinda thing. That can be fun too, right? And you also have friends. But Oh my God, the freaking homework is a pain in the butt. "Hey, lets not let that kid enjoy his night. Lets have school come into his business". The teachers wont stop making our live crappy.

I don't think there is any school system that could ever work. No matter how perfect.

People need to be free to teach themselves, School would be better if kids were not led down the wrong path, parents should go to elementary and high school and to cegep school with their kids. It should be the parents duty to protect their children from being warped. Parents could ensure there child has a healthy mental development throughout their whole life. The world would be a better place.
