@zcarenow ya know... I have no clue... lol. I just bough this trimmer because I did just enough research to know it was a decent brand and so far (third season in with moderate to heave use) it is preforming just fine, has not given me any trouble at all... the 225I is the next level up and the only difference I see (on echo's web page) is that the pull starting system reduces the effort needed to start the trimmer by "75%" vs. "30%" on the basic 225.... outside of that, I don not know, sorry
Hi.. I just bought one off EBAY and it shows up without the "Hood' down where the line is.. you know where you can cut the line and the hood that shields from debri.. apparantly the prior owner ran without it, but... .does that make sense to you>
Thanks for your review. I just bought the same one yesterday and have yet to crank it up but wanted to make sure I was doing it right. The manual is a bit tedious for an Alabama boy like myself but the whole time I was watching I'm thinking about my cousins in Ohio and how much your voice sounds like them. Its like my cousin Ben, a sheet metal craftsmen, is trying to sell me on this weedeater.
I bought the same ECHO from H.D. it worked ok for a while then it started bogging down. I looked on carb for high/low screws for adjustment, there are none! I learned too late that there is a hidden adjustment screw imbedded in side of carb that you take out a rubber plug with drill bit. I am looking for a replacement carb with high/low screws so it will work the way it should!
I looked at Echo trimmers at Home Depot and some of them are made in China so I went to Lowes and bought another Husqvarna. I'm not saying Husqvarna is better and I know not all of the Echos are Chinese but I am sick and tired of this garbage. If they want to build their stuff in Chinese sweat shops let them sell it over there. Does Stihl make any of their products in China? I know some of the Husqvarna's parts are made in China.
@tscat68 I guess that depends on what you think is heavy? I will says its heaver than most cheep trimers from wal-mart or what ever. It's not excessive though and still very much mangable (for me at least).
i have a srm-200be made in the 80's and still runs great.I thing i noticed is ALOT of plastic.Mine is all metal, but im sure your is alot lighter.About ready for a new one looking at srm225 for $219.Thanks for the video
true professional tool! today i went to wall mart and got a new weed eater brand. clutch went out and wouldnt run after 10 mintues. and it shook me to death. BAD i took it back and went to echo dealer. wow amazing so much power. never bog. my 2 year old can start it. i have woods and a extreme property. so i WORK my lawn equipment. look no further. get an echo. its like a stihl will last and do the job the way YOU want to do it.
what the hell is going on here??? Of all the videos I've posted this one has caught the most crap... I would really like it if whoever is responsible for all this garbage being posted on this video: PLEASE STOP!
this is a warning. I will start deleating other non relevent posts after this warning.
Im in college right now and up to my neck with studies, I would if I have time. However to complicate thing futher the tempeature in the mid west right now is a chilly 50 so odd degrees.... Not quite conducive to making videos. Maby later during wintre break if I find a nice day.
ya a little when compared to lesser quality trimmers like the 100 buck crafsmans you could pick up at sears or something like that. but other that that this is a really good trimmer.
I stood in home depot for an hour drooling over this thing... They had two models. An SRM -225 and, the SRM- 225 Hi power. whats the difference? waiting to clear an additional 100 dollars on my credit card to rush and buy.
im a landscaper i have a six year old echo pe 2000 that works great the bad thing is im tall and cant afford the straight arm but plan to get one before next grass cutting seson
however I got it for $218.00 through a series of discounts and I also got a lot of other stuff.... like extra string, extra oil, and a "re-power" kit that came with fule filter, air filter, and spark plug.
what is the difference between SRM-225 vs. SRM-225I ?

@hondapowerequipment1 yeah, a lillte bit. say three or four inches. the handel can be as high as the 'echo' sticker just below the throttle grip.
