One suggestion. Get yourself a Shubb Capo.

They clamp from the topside of the neck and are smaller. Won't crowd your hand. You'll want it out of your way when you get around to picking out the melody.

I do agree with tomas though - the original was a composed song, dating from the 19th century. Emmylou Harris sings "pale amenita" - that's a mushroom! Now to learn some guitar - play every day.

You must have got it right, because one person says it's too fast and another too slow. The right voice for the song - clear and calm. But why use the Carters' tangled words? That's taking respect a bit too far. The right ones are on a site called bobdylanroots and you search for wwflower.

I think the original is very fast - that's what's so great about it. The lyrics are poignant and sentimental but it's sung raw, harsh AND FAST! I'm not so keen on later cleaned up and slowed down versions the Carter Family recorded.
