  • "KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE" :D

  • 00:08 which artist is from

  • well all this what u r talkin about are sort of true...but its the hard way and difficult, due to the high cost....u can become an airline pilot with one 3rd of the money that smbd would pay in ur way!!! im not guessing...it happened to me and im flying for a major national carrier right now! just keep searching and the UK is not the only possible way!

i was a really bad student in school and now im the best of my group!your grades in school are not that important.!your aptitudes though are

  • how much does it cost to be a pilot in india?

  • I'm In air cadets is that also the way to become a pilot

  • @FSflyer264 u don't even know whts the difference btw first officer and copilot they are the same usually is called co-pilot

  • if you have eye floaters can you still become a pilot?

  • Just checking, you said you are a first officer. I looked that up, and that says it is the CO-PILOT. Is this true?

  • Get rid of the stupid ad that takes up the whole screen.

    This vid = FAIL!

  • Which A levels did you take? And how many did you get?

  • i flew a cessna 152 over the thames-estrey from biggin hill it was my first ever time flying an aeroplane. amazing defo want to become a pilot

  • That is the best video on YouTube. Just so inspiring and touching.

  • Speechless, one of the best videos on you tube. I'm so jealous that you got such a job at 22. I hope to follow in your footsteps. I finish university/flying training when i'm 20.

  • Hi Thanks for the Video I liked it and and help other people.

I need to ask i question...My nefew is 14 years old and wants to be like you but at the same time he is a Sikh ( A religion from Punjab, India), Sikhs have to keep there hair and also wear a turban to keep there hair right etc but he is worried about this might effect this dream. Would it? Would Flying schools denline him and wont take him? and will airlines do the same because he got a turban on?

    Thanks youu :)

  • @khalsaworldnet Then why doesn't he just become a pilot in India where he will be accepted? Simple. I don't think the guy who posted this video can answer such a question....

  • @ddl550

A good answer but he lives in the uk, im just wondering if flying schools will accept him that might be enough

  • @khalsaworldnet Then if he lives in the UK i believe that would be called discrimination....???

  • @ddl550 yes you are right but that whats im talking about. Discrimination. He is wishing to go to a flying school after he done his A-levels. Im just Wondering if they would accept him or not

  • im 18 years old now, i live in uk and im wondering how to be a pilot ?

can somebody please guide me step by step

ps i have some financial problems

  • @librahim2 Go talk to flight schools, airlines, use the internet, do some research, like everyone else has to and stop expecting to be spoon fed by people on youtube. Every pilot has some "financial problems". Talk to the flight schools and the banks about your situation and they will be able to help you, not people on youtube.

  • Hey mr captain or first officer actually I'm interested in becoming an airliner pilit for British airways but I'm in Canada so ya I want it to ask like I have to ask that like in the ground school do they teach all about the plane or just the cockpit and the movements and do u have to go to the university or only college

  • I forgot 2 mension.....will british airways, flybe, easyjet etc. employ me even if i am not fully british....i am british of asian origin.

your answers will be much appreciated.

  • i am 14 years old and i want to be an airline pilot.....can you help me get started?....my family is on low income so will this stop me from acheiving my dream or is there a way 2 get loans for the training?.........how many hours am i expected 2 fly each week?......and what are the chances of me becoming an airline pilot?

    Thank You

  • GOD BLESS YOU!!

    THANKS !

  • Is it really hard ti get into the aviation industry, i wanna work for cathay pacific, but im a NY resident, i dont think i will be able to adapt to HK if they want me to be station there!

  • hi, my dream is to become a pilot, but it is to expensive, where can i apply for a scolarship? thank you.

  • Hi, im 14 yrs old and really want to be an airline pilot when im Older. However, will the job be around when im old enough or will the job be done all by autopilot and no pilot required? I no alot of modern airlines use autopilots already but pilots are needed.

  • Is the aptitude test hard

  • To the person giving commentary: or anyone else who is a commercial airline pilot,

what qualifications did you leave secondary school with?

-GCSEs (if you don't mind me asking- what grades?)

    -A levels?

what does the air industry think of B-TEC awards?

just any general advice, please, this is really what i want to do!

thank you ever so much for your time.

    Alex Adams

  • Really great video. I respect all pilots in the World, because they have a very important job to do, I also wanted to become a pilot when I was younger, but I couldn't do it because of my not very good marks and not being able to pay for my studies (maybe one of my sons will become a pilot). Good luck to you.

  • the song is ": vladimirs blues by max ritcher" :) happy flying

  • im 15 and i have never flied a real plane before cause where i live security is pretty high i find this video very inspirational indeed and i thank you for it even though my goal is to become a fighter pilot, because through that man achieves pride and glory like never before and fight for your country, defend it, your family and your ground. life life large and prosper. thats the moto of aspiring jet pilots in case people ask themselves why become a pilot and risk losing your life.

  • can i be a pilot if im having an eye problem i wear glasses!

  • @spykids2007 yes and no. Contact the CAA, I am not a doctor so cant diagnose if you will pass or fail medical!

  • @AP264 what if i pass 20/20 vision with glasses? can i be a pilot? or i need to pass 20/20 bare eye?

  • @AP264 I don't have specific problems but i don't have the best far sight. would you then qualify if you had lazer surgery or correction? I've seen pilots with glasses.

  • @Ichvyenichalster Go and check the CAA website, or go for a CAA medical. If you live somewhere else in the world then go and get a class 1 civil medical and see if you qualify. Everyone's situation is different and you need to see whether you meet the standards - only the Government agencies which issue the medicals can tell you this.

  • @AP264 I feel sorry for you mate, some of the questions people ask on here! don't know how you are so patient!

  • @spykids2007 in cananda u can!

  • @spykids2007 Yea actually you can be a pilot even if you wear glasses! but are you colour-blind too?

  • @spykids2007 It depends on how bad. If it can be corrected by Laser eye surgery then you're pretty much in with a shout.

  • @spykids2007 if it's not too bad then it's ok but if you want to become a fighter pilot your eyes have to be perfect...

  • @spykids2007 yes u can

but u wont b able 2 become an airforce pilot n fly a f-16 LOL

  • @spykids2007 You can as long you dedicate yourself only for airlines aviation. For military aviaton you can't wear glasses.

  • @spykids2007 You can be pilot but not captain.

  • @spykids2007 If you have glasses that can correct your vision to 20/20, then yes!

  • @spykids2007 you need to have 20-20 vision with glasses to be a pilot

  • @spykids2007 Im not sure where you live, but in North America, if you have glasses you have to have correctable lenses to 20/20.

  • Hellp AP264, im 20 years old and have only 4 hours towards gaining my PPL. I am funding this myself but thanks to your link applied for cadet programme with thomas cook. I have a few questions, one which is slightly off topic. do you know iof city and guilds qualifications in mechanics are equivalent to a-levels? I have a level 3. I am learning to fly with northumbria flight school, but i dont have the money to really go all out and get my PPL.

  • @Eaglesham0260 Sorry dont know about that, but good luck with the cadetship.

  • How do you afford pilot training at oxford do you get a loan or do you have to pay every penny with your own money?

  • hi there....i only know that i want to become a pilot.....really want to.....and i need ur help......1st i need 2 know if my academic qualification ((A-Level) matters....2nd i know nothing about planes and pilot...from where should i begin.....plz help......

  • Very inspiring. Thanks for posting this video, it has really put me into a different state of mind. This makes me think that I really can become a pilot. Other than not meeting an A grade in Math (i'm more like a C or B), I think I can meet most of those requirements. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this.

  • Hello im 14, and I am so confused on how to start and where ive watched your video alot and may i say very inspiring! When I was 12 I got a chance to fly solo, the aircraft was a cirrus SR-22 I landed it flyed it and that was a great expearance!Ive heard that another way to start is at a local small airport and help work on airplanes. Depending on the pilot he/she could teach the student. I just need help on how to start. Thank-you so much! BTW what was the song in the very begining?

  • @wizzair1313 Well you can get your Commercial Pilots licence until 17 or 18 i think so you still have a few years to wait at 14. In the mean time get a flying scholarship (gapan or airleague) or join aircadets etc.

  • @wizzair1313 hey mate im 14 too and i want to become a airline pilot too how did you get to fly solo and land the plane at this age ive have flown a plane before with the air cadets but not got a chance to fly solo or land i have done aerobatics bymelf but how did you get the oppurtunity if you can tell me it could really help thanks.

  • AP264, very very beautifull, I mayby go to Oxford via EPST, a school in Holland where I live. This is another reason why oxford is a good flightschool. British Airways. I wish you many happy landings, and dont forget, Keep the dream alive!

  • Hi AP264, I'm currently 18, a Grade 1 glider pilot with the cadets and have 12 hours towards my PPL (Flying Scholarship with cadets in a Grob Heron). Obviously my dream is similar to yours however, I am undecided whether after I obtain a PPL (hopefully) I should go for pilot in the RAF or go for commercial. Any help? P.S. I've decided not to go to University so obviously I will not be joining a UAS.

  • @jonathanBch Well UAS would be a great way to help you decide if you want try RAF or commercial. I dont really have any other advice.

  • what do you need to have to fly airline?? CPL or ATPL?? i just have SPL btw im 16yrs old.. :)

  • @joboikickme "Frozen ATPL" (UK CPL/IR) OR "ATPL"

  • So we need math and physics for sure, and they to be 90% and above

    ?

  • @mehdiyamaha Minimum Grade C at GCSE level.

  • can you attend university while taking pilot training?

  • @littlenigkid yes if you do a modular course (ie do the flight training on weekends and holidays)

  • do you have to make your own way to america

  • @cs167p2 What with Oxford? No its included in the course price. You all fly out and back together.

  • Must you pay for Oxford wih your own money or can you get a loan? Please can you tell men the way you did it.One more thing if you did have to pay for it with your own money then I would never be able to afford it.

  • @BritishAirwaysAirbus Yes you have to pay for it using a combination of savings or loans.

  • Well, lets say i have many years to go until becoming close to being a pilot, but im looking into my future as a teenager. Anyways can you have asthma and still be a pilot for a commercial airline? my asthma is very slight btw.

  • @IndieFlyGurl12 Would have to get a medical examination done to find out.

  • Jeez, in the majors at 22? I'm 19 and no where near that!

  • Hey am just made 35 and wish to keep the dream alive. What your advise regarding my age. I passed my medical and did well in aptitudes. Please be precise. Thank you

  • @mulindwad Have you done a PPL? At your age its a must to prove if you have the "right stuff".

  • @mulindwad

Hey buddy. As a pilot you start as first officer, with time become a captain.

Lets asume (asume!) ten years. So ull be captain at 45 and retire say at 55.

Compared to you a guy that starts say at 25 will be captain at 35, and will enjoy more income for a longer time.

    ¿U understand what I mean?

  • if some one have hart problems can he or she become a pilot

  • @romi221000 u need to pass class1 medical

  • Hey, What's the song tittle in your video? The Canon one. Thanks =)

  • Great video! it was very inspiring. I am 19 and hae always wanted to be a police officer. i currently in school to obtain my criminal justice degree. But i have always had this fasination with airplanes and flight. so i took a flying lesson and was blown away. just being up there gave me this feeling pf absolute freedom, i loved it. so now i sit here torn between two careers that i want so badly and am not sure how to continue. but this video really brought back that feeling of absolute freedom.

  • @905605 Why not do both and become a police air observer? flying around in the police helicopters

  • do you need to be british in order to qualify for the university air squadron?

  • @alejo2564 not sure, try asking you local UAS.

  • Hi im 16 and am about to start my PPL, what other qualifications are needed to go onto a turboprop with say flybe. Will they teach me to fly their planes like a dash 8

  • Thank you for posting this video! I have been fascinated with the idea of flying an airplane for about a year now. You offered some great tips here!

  • @AP264 What is interesting to me is you got into the UAS, and then decided to civilian.

Was your intention always to use the UAS to get some flying experience then go civi, or did you plan to join the military but got put off?

  • @billboy05 I kept all my doors open for aslong as possible for careers in flying, engineering or business until the end of uni. Then after graduating followed the airline pilot route.

  • @AP264 How long did you stay in the UAS and what did you think of it? Was it useful in your airline pilot applications (did they talk about it in interviews, did you get references etc). I am in a UAS myself but considering whether to go civilian or military.

  • @billboy05 I think any activity based courses like UAS help develop you as an individual which it what makes you more competitive than other candidates who have dont done the same. I dont think however that stamping "UAS" all over your CV or applications helps. Its the benefits and maturity that you as an individual have gained which is most important.

  • @AP264 That is very true, but wait, maturity and the UAS together? Kidding. Now, my interest lies with you because your in British Airways. I am dropping out of university to start an apprenticeship as an Aircraft Mechanic which gives me a job and education. The airline industry should really start to pick up again in the next 3-4 years, which is why I must ask, is there much talk or rumours of the BA pilot sponsorship starting again? Can you see places opening up?

  • im only 13, im year 9, what advice would you give me as i really want to achieve this ambition.

  • hey thanks for the great video ive got 3 questions:

    1) im 16 is there any advice

    2) how long will it take to become a pilot after A Levels

    3) And which degree did you do and how long did it take as well as the pilot school

  • @pakialz

    1) follow all links in this video.

    2) 18 months to get qualified (u then need a job with an airline tho)

    3) Aerospace Engineering (3yr)

  • My parents are prepared to send me to OAA or my uncle is a 747 Captain for BA and is hopeing to get me a apprenticeship when i'm abit older and have my grades.

I currently get a B in english but only a D/F in Maths (Foundation Level) Science i'm ok on a D which i can get up 2 a C, i do my final GCSE's Next May/June and i am berrying my head in those books to get that C in Maths would you say this is the right thing to do? Also im good at Geography and BACS (Communication skills)

  • @HeathrowSpottingHD You need minimum 5 GCSE @ grade C including math & english.

  • Hi,

Could you send me your email address so that I talkk to you about your video?

    James@pooleys.com

  • Brilliant!

  • Brilliant!

  • Hi AP264,

    Excellent Video!

  • This might be a bit much to ask, but can you put subtitles? I'm not good at understanding English accents. :/

  • Just a Day! :)

  • no race doesnt matter mate and u dont need really particular subjects in order to require for airline but its advanture

  • I talked to a pilot this morning. When I was boarding a 737-800, I asked if I could go in the cockpit and talk with the pilots. They told me as long as you are committed and patient, its fairly fun and easy. Basically just said the same things as this video.

  • Hi I really want to become a pilot but i was just wondering, do you have to be really rich to become a pilot because all that training costs loads?

  • @BritishAirwaysAirbus Unfortunately most of the opportunities currently require you to fund you own training which is very expensive, however, in the past banks have offered loans which cover the costs (not at the moment though). Anyone can become a pilot, it is just a case of saving for many years and then training (if you really want it, you can do it) . Don't get me started on trying to find a job...the training is the fun part.

  • in this page you told that spanish guy that if he want to study aviation in uk he have be in uk atleast 3-5 years. Well how i know one guy that studied aviation in uk without been there for 3years.

  • How can i become a Q400 pilot?

  • @BJJANDKARATE You dont need any specific Alevels or subjects. They are not a requirement. No Race is not an issue. In the UK is an employer discriminates on race they can be taken to court, sued etc...

  • Good information well produced

    best wishes from the UK

  • @PooleysFlightEquip Thank you. Your CRP5's provided much enjoyment during ground school!

  • @AP264 -thanks, we still make them here at Cranfield ( who says the UK does not manufacture these days ! )

  • i hav always wanted to be a pilot..its my dream career!!

  • you have the best job on earth!

  • @redryderbbguy ....6miles above the earth!

  • U know mi AP264 guess wat I went in a flight simulator of a 737 and wow it's amazing. I am 11 years old guys

  • Man , can you answer me some questions ? I am a romanian and maybe I will live in London , my dream is to become an airline pilot , can you tell me the price for learning into an aviation college :D and what kind of high school I have to finish ? Do I must have some knowledge of mathematics and physics ? I am fourteen years old and I just finished the eight class here in Romania , can you tell if it is true that the children in UK that are 14 years old are in the tenth class > Thanks for hope

  • @ionutshowcase It varies from £40-80,000 to get the basic fATPL licenses.

  • @AP264 And you paid ? Or you found sponsors ? Thank you for posting this video , I really appreciate

  • This is where I sound daft, I have glasses to see, if i get lasik then can I still be a Pilot? I'm geting answers, and a flight attendant for jetBlue told me that many pilots for the airline use glasses!! I'm quite confused. is there differant rules for differant airlines is there other versions of the FAA? Please respond!!!

  • @TheDrNibbles Yes some airlines may have MORE restrictive medical conditions than the actual authority FAA / CAA/ JAA etc..

  • @TheDrNibbles I recommend you to pass the class 1 medical thing... (The professional pilot medical...) Don't take any stupid decisions like operating your eyes before you're sure that you can without any RESTRICTIONS cause yes you can have your medical license but you can be restricted to be flying only during daytime. So don't take any major decisions especially about medical, health, on your own and without a specialized doctor or without his permission... Roger that ?

  • please reply to me

  • can you still become a pilot with C grade in english maths science and geoghraphy

  • Hi at school what main subjetcs do you need. Also can i still be a pilot doing ASDAN course and single science

  • what is a-level subjects?

  • @bassonova555 "ADVANCED LEVEL CERTIFICATE" you study it aged 16-18 in UK

  • i want to be a pliot i am 12 now i really want to fly people around the world and have a grate life when i get older

  • I am spanish, and i'm 19 Could i be fighter pilot in UK?

  • @axmanpalomeque you need to atleast live 3 or 5 five years in britain

  • @97PAC2 thanks by your answer, so if i move to UK this year and stay for 5 year in UK i will be able to access in the UK army in order to be fighter pilot, no? and after 5 years i will be 24 years old, this age would be right? ( sorry if i make a mistake, and thank you very much).

  • @axmanpalomeque You have to be age 25 or less to join RAF now. (it used to be 23, but this was revised a few months ago).

  • Comment removed

  • @AP264 ofcourse you will

  • @AP264 What is RAF stand for?

  • @axmanpalomeque ok, i need know it, thank you very much.

  • @axmanpalomeque

The nationality requirements for each job are given in each of the job files on this website.

To apply for any RAF job, you must be a citizen of the UK or the Republic of Ireland, or have been a Commonwealth citizen since birth, or hold dual UK/other nationality.

For security reasons, there are stricter nationality requirements for some jobs. For a few, you must have been a UK citizen and UK resident since birth.

Straight of the RAF website, Hope it helps

  • @BournerAndLeveyFilms yes it helps me, thank you very much.

  • How Much Is All The Total Cost To BA pilot

    PLS REPLY

    cheers thanks

  • I didn't quite understand the Frozen ATPL thing..

could someone exlain, please : )

  • @selmerpwns Frozen ATPL is a term for someone with a CPL/IR but low hours (not enough to hold a full ATPL). It means literally it is frozen because you dont have enough flying experience. You unfreeze it by getting 1500hr experience. So then you have a full ATPL.

  • @AP264 And its pretty much impossible to get those 1500 flying hours, beacuse no one wants to hire a pilot with frozem ATPL if i have understand it correctly.

  • good job man for explaining it..guess u are an aviator maniac rite?..hehe

  • wow nice video. what is the name of the first song played. i really like that

  • If anyone thinks they are going to walk straight out of flight training and into BA nowadays, think again. If you finish an integrated course at the moment, you are no better off than a modular student, in fact you are worse off because you will have spent twice as much money on the same liscense and will have no better employment prospects! Maybe a few years ago when the industry was in better shape it would have been a good idea to do integrated training but not nowadays, go modular.

  • airline pilot job not as glamorous, as it use to be.......

Fly for fun...nothing else beats it.

  • great vid....ive been wanting to be afighter pilot since my dad took me to an airshow to see the thunderbirds when i was five years old....go airforce!

  • Hey man im only 14 years old i my dream is to fly a b747-400 or the newer 747's when im old enough. and atm i got a C in math and B+ in Phsyics. can you pls give me some tips on how to get better at math that would be highly appreicated tha ns for this awesome video as well :)

  • When Im older i want go to university to learn to be a pilot but im worried about the cost.

  • epst.com aptitude test doesnt work. are there any other free online aptitude tests you know of?

  • how i am going to keep the dream alive if i have some problems with my eyesight?

i want to become a pilot but can do that? or i should keep dreaming and doing nothing because it's useless

  • I want to become a pilot when i grow up! :) but im near sighted... :(i hope they allow me to become a pilot...

  • What was the total cost of the oxford intergrated course? including living expenses, licence issue, the lot? I can't work out how much I'd need. Don't know where I'll get the cash anyway though!!

  • @schoie2004 answered on the other thread.

  • im on the same road

in the air cadets and aiming to become a ba pilot

    nice video by the way

one question can you wear contact lenses while flying a raf plane?

  • @diajassy no dont think you can wear contact lenses in raf. They wont let you join with glasses/contact lenses. If during your RAF career your eyesight degrades, then they will issue you with glasses. Problem with contacts in the raf is they can fall out, and in a fast jet this is a problem!
