By the way: Tyrian was planned to be ported for GB (GBC compatible) and GBA. Eventually, they got cancelled. The catch? Tyrian 2000 GB was 99% done, as GBA one was less than 25%
I think I should recommend a game called Jets'N'Guns to everyone who likes Tyrian. JNG is a kind of spiritual successor to Tyrian, you scroll through levels, shoot things, and you die a lot, and you ask your friend who plays more shmups then you if you just suck or if the game is hard and they show you a clip of Touhou on lunatic difficulty and you're all like "kay nevermind."
Oh man, I love this game! I've been playing this once or so a year for a good 10 years. I pronounce the name as you did. There's so much awesome in this game, people need to try it just to get a taste. It's available through wii homebrew, if you're into that sort of thing. Plays fairly well too. Here's one of the many little easter eggs in the game...set your computer date to Dec. 25 and see what happens.

Oh man, Tyrian is so awesome. I also recommend abandonia for any nostalgic people out there who want to relive their DOS days.
