you can (if you like) dismount the device, soldering cable on the sound or the red lamp and when you use the total destruct button. (connect the othe extremity of the cable on an explosive and when you push the button.... BOOOOMMM) XD
Almost bought one, but decided i would get bored with it too fast so i didn't. I WOULD have if it would turn my computer on with that red button, considering it need's a key, that would actually be quite a usfull item for authing a computer.
is it possible to programme this to do other things like when you press the big red button it does somthing on your pc/mac screen like virtualy blow somthing up? That would be cooler than just make a silly noise. I do think it looks cool but i expected it to do more. even make a little video of a mushroom cloud would be cool.
A hardware hacker could probably gut the insides and use it for something like that with a custom circuit board (like Arduino or Freeduino), but I have no idea how to do that.
You could open it up re wire it to a mini storage device that's pre loaded with an .exe file that when it's connected and activated it does something. (Wipe the HDD clean)
No longer on ThinkGeek... :(
btw How much did it cost when you bought it?

You payed $60 for a noisemaking USB hub?
BJOlson 5 months ago
so you buy it and it makes a shitty quality NES exsplosion sound?
need i mention how small it is?
1purplekittykat 6 months ago
@1purplekittykat Yes! Don't forget, it's a USB Hub with 4 Slots too!
You can blow stuff up, get nostalgia, and have 4 devices connected to your computer at once! Think of the possibilities!

If when the button is pressed it just had a beeping, perhaps increasing in speed, that'd be better, rather than that terrible explosion sound effect.

think geek wants 60 dollars for that? wtf

So, I've always wanted this since the first day I saw it on ThinkGeek.
And why wouldn't I? Two switches, a key, and a button. I would feel like I have so much power.
Amazingly awesome? Yes.
Wanted as a gift? Yes.
Worth the $50 price tag? No.

As far as I know you can't program it to do anything. It just acts as a hub for other USB plugs. Just looks cool that's about it...
