  • I used to live in Pittsburgh and I ave to admit the size of these hills and the help of ice=huge amount of car crashing.

  • Why dint they close the road

  • Friction. Very important stuff.

  • Hello AAA

    Yes

I'm stuck on on a hill in Pittsburg

    *hangs up phone*

  • I am a sick person for laughing my ass off at this?

  • Jesus Christ! What a speed they came down the hill with.. wow... one of the best (worst) videos like this on youtube..

  • get the radar gun. those people were really movin lol

  • LOL

  • Why not try the gadget ? You could save your time and money, let your life alone.

  • omg that hill should be closed off in any snow condition

  • 242 Auto Body shop owners liked this. 2 Insurance Adjusters committed suicide.

  • Sure hate to fill out THAT accident report.

  • It is a pity that guys should get in trouble, not using the tool. Anybody could enhance with it the traction at the flip of the switch.

  • OMG them kids looked terrified they coulda died i remember walking across a road with black ice a couple of years ago i fell cracked my skull open and luckily my friends lifted me out of the way of danger to this day i feel like i owe them something xxx

  • 5 Stars Clip

  • That guy was doing 30 mph D:

  • Taylor gang or crash bitch!

  • Insurance for sure!

  • More evidence that compulsory government cant even keep the roads safe. Thats why the voluntary free market is so much better at providing services.

  • @mustaffa1611 You're funny.

  • ice + hill= funny shit

  • Those driving the roads WERE idiots............think about it..."hmmmmmmmmmm....look at all the ice on the road....hmmmm...should I really get into my 3000lb car and drive on it???/ I DON'T THINK SO!!!! One thing that makes an idiot an idiot it poor decision making skills....

  • Cars crashing everywhere and it is a good idea to stand out on the sidewalk? Um, yea.

  • Pittsburgh has some steep hills. One street in Penn Hills is so steep that cars spin there tires going up it in the summer when its wet

  • There's no way they could see or feel the ice and the crashed cars until it's too late. The crest of the hill blocks the view. It looked like the suv at the start was trying to back up, because he recognized the danger. I think I saw backup lights.

  • At least the Jetta was okay. Lol.

  • glad i used to live on that street.

  • I'll just park on the sidewalk where my car will be safe - NOT.

  • PITTSBURGHS GOIN TO THE SUPER BOWL

  • @TheRevIsGod1 Yeah with a lot of touches and downs I see

  • STEELERS WAVE!!:„ø¤º°¨ ¨°º¤KEEP THE WAVE GOING ¸„ø¤º°¨ ¨°º¤øº LETS GO STEELERS!¤¤º°¨¨°º¤øº¤ø„¸¸ø¤º°¨„ ø¤º°¨¨°ºL-E-T-S GO!„ø¤º°¨ ¨°º¤LET'S GO STEELERS!¸„ø¤º°¨¨°º¤øºL-E-T-S GO!¤¤º°¨ ¨°¤øº¤ø„¸¸ø¤º°¨LET'S GO STEELERS:„ø¤º°¨¨°º¤KEEP THE WAVE GOING¸„ø¤º...

  • It must be a lot steeper than it looks. That one car was flying down the road! They're lucky they didn't get killed.

  • nice video

  • "Sir, You need to roll da Amber Lamps soon!"

  • lolzzzz

  • First of all you got to be a complete idiot to be driving in in that weather

  • @getalife67 You clearly don't live in Pittsburgh. We don't really have a choice.

  • And studded tires are illegal because they tear the roads up.

  • All somebody needed to do was run up to the top of the hill and signal to oncoming drivers to stop and not drive down the hill... Quick thinking, people.

  • Now everybody see, Americans are so stupid why they dont use winter tires?

  • @Gobraza excuse me... do u see the street?? its alll ice and there was freezing rain everywhere!!..its krazy anyone can't drive with the street like this... you are stupid to comment something that YOU dont know!!! ...

  • @Gobraza cause we arent stupid enough to tear up our roads like you dumbass europeans are.

  • Sounds like obama lol

  • man this is some serious bumber cars loll.

  • Did none of the people who lived on that street think to go to the top of the hill and put a road closed sign there??? Too seneible maybe?

  • @dark00spirit right, let me just pull the big orange "road closed" sign out of my pocket here..

  • Im sure the local body shop loved it

  • Im sure the local body shop loved it

  • jagoffs on ice!!!

  • 0:16 cue Mankind's wrestling theme.

  • I live in Pittsburgh and you have to realize Tuesday morning was crazy with ice.

  • Thumbs up if Geekologie sent you here.

  • "Where ARE you, Captain Hindsight?!?"

  • what was up with the guy hauling ass down the hill? it looks like he accelerates

  • @ItFlies2U prolly an old person flippin out and panicking.

    or a woman.

  • Perfect example of weather you should not drive in

  • Pfft. Jeezz, it's ice! You can't stop! You slide, so it's just not Pittsburgh, it would be anyone. So stop saying we can't drive.

  • 1) The salt trucks were out before the cold and snow hit....unfortunately it didn't help the circumstances because of the hill and it's elevation. 2) Those driving this road, weren't idiots. The other roads in the area weren't that bad. so how were they to know this one would be...3) There were people at the top of that hill who were trying to back away once they saw what was going on and couldn't. So, all you who think Burgh-ers don't know how to drive in snow/ice...get your facts straight.

  • @slh326 Whereas in Seattle, I've seen sanding trucks do a flat grade and, where a hill begins, stop and back up. So people used to all the well-sanded flat roads get complacent, raise their speeds, then go over a hill and spin out. Usually, the ones I've seen who spin like that then slam on their brakes and spin more.

  • @slh326 still, if its fucking icy, u should try and drive safer... and get snow tires

  • BRING THE AMBERLAMPS

  • I am the lucky one who got their escape & mustang creamed by the sonata. We always have problems cause we are a secondary street=second class.Nobody is in control on ice & people were dumb to even try our hill since they predicted ice the nite before,BUT The truth is the salt truck came at 7 am,HIT A CAR,then left "to get chains "He never salted the hill, never called for another truck&never closed the street.,I am so glad kdka filmed this cause it is nationally proved PGH DPW Dropped the ball!!!!

  • if you wanna drive on ice and never skid get an older lexus SC, they never slip on ice if you know how to drive and put decent tires on it

  • @badbobbyhughes sorry pal, but ANY automobile is going to slide on ice unless it has tracks equipped.

  • LOL @ first car. think he played too much Spy Hunter as a kid

  • americans don't know how to drive in the winter XDXDXD

  • @disclaimer175 More specifically, Pittsburgh residents don't know how to drive in the winter

  • Thanks for doing the right thing and calling for help instead of just filming it like a douche.

  • Damn doesn't pittsburgh get de-icing treatments?

  • A lot of people have asked why people were out on a day like this. Schools were open, some were delayed, but they were open. When the public hears that "school is open" they assume that the streets are safe enough for travel for school buses, and that they have been treated with salt and ice remover. The kids in the video were probably going to school. And, if there is school- parents hit the road to go to work.

  • I'm just in AWWWWW watching car after car come crashing down the hill.. I live in this neighborhood n year after year we are forgotten n this happens.. Not to mention the drivers that were dumb enough to go down the hill being ice covered, well they knew what was gonna happen. That's just NUTZ!

  • bring amblance

  • Why block off the road? Let these idiots learn a lesson the hard way...

  • HOLY COW!~ This is crazy winter days! ~

  • I say this in every icy road video with people crashing their cars:

If the roads are that icy and you still decide to drive you deserve to crash your car.

These guys are doubly stupid for trying it on a hill.

  • This is why I stay home when the roads are pure ice.

I live 10 minutes from Montreal so I'm used to crazy winters and know a hell of a lot better than to risk driving on that stuff. It's the law here to have winter tires and even with those, I'd slide.

Not worth the hassle of filing insurance papers, losing the use of the car during repairs and not to mention the cost of everything not covered.

  • why isnt anyone enough smart to block off the road when he sees 2 cars already crashing

  • I love the comments "salt the F'n roads." Very funny. And HOW do you expect the truck to go down that hill? Could you imagine the damage THAT would make? Some people don't use their heads. Even if they COULD salt it, this kind of stuff happens fast and the only way you're going to prevent this kind of thing is to presalt the road before the weather hits. Now how reliable is that weather man again? I live in MA now and we have been expected to get hit 3 times this year. Got hit ONCE so far.

  • WTF, SHITTSBURGH?! Do you guys have salt trucks? This road has a "reputation" for being terribly icy?! How the HELL does that happen?

  • @gamp0001 A road having a reputation for being icy just means that it is known to get icy, not that it's never salted.

This video was taken before the salt truck got to it, obviously.

Actually, I'm wondering right now how a salt truck would even salt a hill like this without sliding itself!

  • @SenorSlopez OK, I'll give a little latitude, but this shit is icy during what appears to be broad daylight...aren't most salt trucks out in the early hours of the AM? And again, if this road has a reputation for dangerous ice, why isn't it hit first?

  • @gamp0001 Weeeeelllll, we've got no money. :/ Don't blame us regular Pittsburghers for that.

  • @SenorSlopez My grandpa (R.I.P.) used to say that Pittsburgh's streets were designed by crazy, drunk Indians. Seems like he may have been correct when I'm watching this!

  • @gamp0001 As i said people sucks in pittsburgh in driving.

  • @gamp0001 also i drive for a living down here. I get hit down here once a week. ONCE A WEEK. From people down here driving and not looking at were they are going. I mean half of the time i am STOP at a RED LIGHT. Back in NY i never once got hit.

  • I've driving through Montreal like this. Fortunately , there wasn't any cars to hit.

  • Everyone in Pittsburgh sucks at driving huh? LOL... I just think those people should have stayed in on days like that and not drive on roads that steep roads like this one.

  • Everyone in pittsburgh SUCKS AT DRIVING!!! come to upstate NY and this would never happen. I moved here from NY and live in PItt and u guys are a bunch of dumb ass

  • @kylethebad I had no clue that people from New York had the magical power to prevent their cars from sliding on ice! Please, teach us of your mystical ways!

  • @kylethebad I've driven in NY quite a bit Kyle. I live in MA now and the impression I get from many NY drivers is that they all think they're great drivers, but they're just as bad if not worse as every body else because they're cocky.

  • @BraintreeMedia Hahaha yeah its called you dont fly down the hill like the one car did. Also its called stay the hell off the road. I mean if u see people spinning why would you go down it? Also did u read this? "Anyone stupid enough to try to drive down Fallowfield in weather like this deserves what they get." I mean if u live there and you know the weather is bad why would u go down a big ass hill?

  • @kylethebad I think what Braintree was saying that there are bad drivers everywhere and some NY drivers are potentially worse because they are cocky combined with being bad drivers. That's not saying all NY drivers are bad. Just the cocky and bad ones. ;-)

  • @Kiltedwolf thats like 1% haha

  • Damn.. people need to slow down.

  • I used to live on Dagmar Ave, the next street over from Fallowfield. I also used to deliver(on foot) the newspaper on these streets. There is no reason these people should have been attempting to go down there. I recently returned to Pgh, and find that the people have definately gotten dumber. 20 yrs ago this never happened anywhere in Beechview. And that's when it was all cobblestone.

  • id be entaertained all day watching this!!!

  • I'm from Pittsburgh. From. I'm not going back.

Pittsburgh is as packed with idiot hillbillies and rednecks as any state in the country. Bottles of tobacco spittle litter the ground even in the urban areas. People are so thick there that they do things like drive down a hill that is plainly and obviously a sheet of polished ice. What a pack of dummies.

  • @electrojones Because Pittsburgh's the only city where people have slid around on ice, huh? Immediately to the right are videos from Seattle and Colorado Springs. Hell, there's even one from Europe, judging by the kinds of cars I see. I guess they're all "thick" too.

Go ahead and be "from" Pittsburgh. It's obvious that the problem is you, not the city, because living somewhere else clearly hasn't made your personality suck any less. (By the way, I don't chew tobacco.)

  • I remember going down this street when my mom was showing me around Pittsburgh. And I thought it was bad in normal conditions...

  • As bed Intruder would say..."you are so dumb"

  • Heres an idea: SALT THE FUCKING ROAD

  • 0:49 SIR WE GUNNA NEED AN AMBERLAMPS SOON!

  • this looks nowhere near as fun like how i do it in grand theft auto IV

  • WHAT THE FUCK.Seriously.I'm really not trying to be a bitch.ANYONE who knows ANYTHING about beechview knows that those roads are going to be dangerous to get down. Who would risk their own lives OR the lives of their kids to get ANYWHERE! ESPECIALLY if they LIVE in Beechview. SERIOUSLY if you couldn't get out your front door without busting your ass what made you think driving down FALLOWFIELD was a good idea? Jagoff

  • it must have been national, women driving day

  • Can anyone tell me what was so vital and important that made these idiots leave their homes when the roads are this bad?

  • @sockmagnet Happy hour

  • @Gr1m5n1p3r86 Good grief, I bet you're right! How funny!!

  • @sockmagnet

People who don't want to lose their jobs because they didn't show up for work. It is seriously hard to find precious jobs around here, and people end up risking their lives to keep them.

  • usa still hasn't discovered salt

  • @LowOIL it's not that the south can't drive, it's that the South is unprepared for icy conditions. So when it snows in the north, the roads are pre-treated with salt or a salt-sand mix whereas in Atlanta they have a total of what... 5 snow plow trucks?

  • lets get out of the car and get hit, like those kids. Dems are so fucking stupid

  • I'll save this catastrophe! Now someone get me my curling broom!

  • I bet going down that hill would be fun on a sled(with out the cars around of course)

  • you would think after the 2nd.. no 3rd... no 4th.. no 5th car, that someone would go to the top and tell people not to go down....

  • What a bunch of stupid American idiots. "Dur I just saw a bunch of cars go sliding out of control down that hill dur that looked like fun I'm gonna try it too durty dur dur". Never mind a bunch of kids were in the back. If I owned one of those parked cars I'd beat their asses.

  • @TreyParkersBitch what an arrogant foreigner... it's a blind hill... you come to the top of one hill then you are instantly going down the hill you see...

if you don't know what your talking about... chances are you should just shut the hell up....

because you sound stupid.... but something tells me that fits you fairly well...

  • @TreyParkersBitch -- Uh.... you can shut yer' pie-hole. Weather 'phenomenon' changes the ground in seconds. You? Not so much. Piss off, wanker.

  • @TreyParkersBitch Coming from a guy who uploads videos of cats? What a fucking pussy. Surprised you didn't upload the videos of you having sex with the poor thing.

  • @TreyParkersBitch Are Americans really the only nationality that can produce "idiots"? Are you really trying to imply through "stupid American idiots" that no other country could ever contain any person that stoops down to the same levels of idiocy as American people? We have a lot of idiots in our country, but I'm sure your country has its fair share too. Stop stereotyping us. We intelligent Americans have a word for people who stereotype others just because they are foreign: "Racists."

  • holy shit...that second silver car looked like he was gunning it all the way down!

  • Oh sh*t!

    00:16

  • someone needs to dub the song "Tokyo Drift" by Terryaki Boyz over this video

  • This was a real bad one!

  • They can't play Tetris.

  • Is this on Failblog yet?

  • 2 people don't have winter tires

  • dumb yank retards...it's called ICE - gottit?

  • @TigerIPanzer Were pretty familiar with ice here in Pittsburgh...

  • AOTS around the NET!

  • Someone go to the top of that hill and keep cars from driving down!

  • fuck

  • Thank goodness this man was here to film this. Otherwise someone could've gotten hurt without us seeing it!!!

  • @Maddude he was on the phone with 911. It's a good thing he was recording this because this is proof that it happened, now insurance can't question anything.

  • I know that road. What's really sad is in that section of the city there are no garages. Therefore all of those people living there HAVE to park on the streets and subject their cars to this all the time. I'll bet a lot of the homeowners there have gotten their cars smacked into. Same in Mt Oliver and Carrick off of Brownsville Road.

  • Is it bad that I started laughing when the second car started zooming off the road at 0:17?

  • @jsprty It's ok that you laugh, because the guy driving that car is okay, and his own boss showed it to everyone in the office and they were able to laugh about it.

  • WOW. That was fun to watch and I'm grateful I wasn't one of the drivers.

We live on a steep hill and during some snow storms we get to watch people careening down our hill with all 4 wheels locked up. There are Jersey barriers at the bottom of the hill so the cars don't go through the sound wall and end up on the freeway. Nobody can get up the hill at that point.

  • WOW, that's crazy !! It looks like pinball with cars !

  • PLINKO!!

  • looks fun

  • This entire road is ice, once you come over the top it's too late to do anything. Tap the brakes and you're in the same situation all of these people are in. Being careful, slowing down, being prepared, none of that matters in this situation.

  • Don't stand in the damn road and go to the top of the hill to stop people before they head down it. It doesn't matter how slowly you creep along on ice, once you're on a hill forget it.

  • @vsop333 Going by the movement of the dude with the cone towards the end of the clip, I'd say that it was probably impossible (or at least prohibitively difficult) for them to walk up the hill - best bet would be to have the police drive to the top of the hill (from somewhere other than the bottom, obv.) and block it off that way.

  • The sad part of this video is, Pittsburgh drivers deal with this every year . . . you would think people would: a.) Use more caution when the roads are like that, and B.) slow down and be prepared . . . or stay home!!!! . . .duh

  • Meanwhile, Mayor Ravenstahl said just in the past two days that he is pleased with the City's response to road conditions this winter thus far.

Guess there aren't any city officials that live on that street.

  • This is painful to watch O.O, but you can't help and keep watching.

  • thumbs up for Opie And Anthony!

  • I guess the driver in the silver car thought "Well, if I'm going to total out my car, might as well have fun doing it" I bet that owner of the Escape was so mad.

  • I am the escape owner and i must say when i got to my porch and saw both my escape and mustang ( that was in the driveway behind the escape ) creamed, only one four letter word that starts with f came to my mind and i screamed it about 20 times in a row from my porch.if you listen close in the video you hear me....i must say now that a few days have passed,i keep watching the video in amazement and am so glad nobody was killed.I do wonder what the carfax report will read at trade in..........

  • @estatepicker I though I herd someone saying FUCK!!!! I know thats what I would be saying thats hard luck man you know you would think people would stay off hills that are known to be trouble wtf .......hope things workout for ya

  • @estatepicker i stoped the video to see the highest comments and when i saw yours and turned it on i heard you yelling fuck lol

  • @estatepicker lmfao liar

  • @estatepicker It does not matter if your car was parked or not...If your car was in an accident it goes down as such...My mom's car was hit during icy roads-and it was parked-and it was put down as no fault..the insurance company said it was totaled and said it was her fault for parking it there. (in front of our house-more then 2 car lengths off the road) and they only wanted to give her 100.00 for it...Can you say FUCKED...

  • @estatepicker was it at 1:07 ?

  • @estatepicker haha i did hear you. hoped everything worked out

  • How long does it take after the first crash for someone to think to put a cone or chair or SOMETHING at the top of the hill so no else comes down? It's called civics!

  • I wonder if anyone (such as the cameraman) thought of standing at the top of the hill to warn the incoming drivers?

We had the same weather phenomenon in Toronto. +2°C to -8°C. No bueno.

  • This never gets old!

  • On ice -> no brake and gear down! But how to gear down with Automatic gears on those stupid American cars ?

  • They only speed up when they try to avoid hitting another car...

  • Don't they put salt and sand on the streets in US? There are so many videos more or less like this from there, crazy video :D

  • Anyone stupid enough to try to drive down Fallowfield in weather like this deserves what they get.

    Buncha morons.
