"Your his WIFE"??? Girl, please! She was WAY too old to be his wife. Grandma, maybe, but his WIFE? Oh, for God's sake.
And she responds to everything with such incredibly thought out sentences that NO ONE, unless they were an ACTOR with MEMORIZED LINES could EVER speak like that... meaning, the whole thing comes across as FAKE.
@tinagetmetheaxe You might want to take that up with the writer/director. The writing in All About Eve was also deliberately made "over dramatic" and unnatural. Joan in this film, and Bette Davis worked with what they were given.
It's so great to see Lorne Greene as a bad guy after knowing him for years as the beloved patriarch of Bonanza. There is an earlier scene where he unbelievably even comes on the Joan Crawford's character as she is leaving his hotel room. What a sleaze.
@cuzitsnecessary hahah :) Check out the "Chia pets" above Joan's eyes. Seriously, besides Dietrich, I can't think of any contemporary of hers that so transformed their eyebrows XD!!!!
this was on the tv this morning at like 5:30am- the description read "old sphincter woman marries a young man with mental problems and another wife" i was like - what the heck??
"You tramp...you slut..." Now I remember why this was my favorite J.C. film. B. Davis said that J. C. slept with every many in Hollywood except Lassie! HaHa.
Anyway, can you imagine actors today (who aren't gay) coming off with this kind of scene? No, they are too busy running their fingers through their hair, saying inane lines like, "I'm so confused" or "I know you are hurting inside..." Thanks for posting as I can't afford to buy the dvd, yet!
films . I just hate the scene that follows this after she just defended him .
And those bungalow Apt's that were like little houses ,we need more like those instead of those stacked Apt's with ALWAYS noisy neighbors that have Elephant walk feet !!!!
Money conniving bastards.
