Being from Chicago,I was blessed to see KoKo a bunch of times.Met her once at Kingston Mines(THE CHICAGO BLUES CLUB).One of the coolest people you would

ever want to meet!!

I saw her less than a year before she died. God, I am so glad I did.

I admit I didn't not know much about her, but I will never forget that show. She and her band were f-ing awesome. She rocked everyone in that place.

i saw Koko in the early 80's at a very small midwestern venue that was sold out, hot, claustrophobic, so smoky everyone's eyes were burning, nice and loud, from about six feet away on the dance floor.

she was incredible. If you want to get anything even approaching it today, you gotta check out Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, prefferably in a small, crowded joint. Get up on the dance floor and get within six feet of the stage.
