  • cool bass, cool amp. I just can't stand an sm57 on guitar cabs let alone on bass.

  • Reading the manual and its specs sheds light on what the reviewer sees as the combo's shortcoming. The amp is rated as 600w @ 4 ohms. The 15" driver is a 4 ohm driver, so the amp won't handle any additional speaker load. Each 10" driver in the 210 is 8 ohms; when connected in parallel again produces the minimum allowed load of 4 ohms. It looks to me like Ampeg thinks the better solution is to run line out from one combo into the input of a second combo, if you need more power. Just a guess...

  • ampeg grunt

  • Anyone knows what the street price in Canadian $ for this amp ?

  • I got this combo and I don't know why but it doesn't seems to be as loud as 600W should be in my opinion. I couldn't hear myself loud enough with one guitar and drums. This is not cool.Though combo sounds good I'm looking for something else.

  • Finally a thorough review by a knowledgeable individual.

  • Are the 600W all there, or does the cone start to fart when driven loud, like the little Portaflex?

  • Are the 600W all there, or the combo starts to fart like the Portaflex series when driven high?

  • Like this guy a lot. He does a good job of explaining the amps features & knows what he's talking about. And he's right: why doesn't a 600 watt amp have a speaker out? It's dumb!

Finally, Owen plays some cool bass lines - talented.

  • do the 300 watt models also have the same features? (two chanels, tube pre-amp)

  • @RnRinc1 The 300 Watt features the modern channel, but lacks the vintage channel. That's the only difference as far as I know.

  • @TheArmogohma thanks, good review too

  • now thats a big ass combo

  • whats the song he plays at the start?

  • I love him!best review guy ever....he's bright!

  • Providing an external speaker out would probably deeply cut into the sales of their other bass heads and bass cabinets. Why go and buy an SVT-3 and a couple of cabs if you could buy a BA300 and one other cab?

  • I need to find out how to play that intro at the beginning, please any tips?

  • Fuck this amp. I brought it today and there's this mad rattling sound coming from it when you play low notes. Stay away if you want my advice.

  • Doesn't just the BA300 have a single 12AX7?

Afaik the BA600 have two of them...

But what is the difference in tone between the 115 and 210?

And how does that amp sounds in high gain?

  • i think that the preamp has (1)12au7 and (1)12ax7

  • Aren't 600 Watt not just...hm... FUCKING LOUD? :O

  • Made in USA?

  • Ooooops....I meant B200R...it is in fact 220watts @ 4ohms though.

  • You don't need an extension if the internal speaker is 4ohms. I suppose AMPEG should consider an 8ohm version with the option of a speaker out. My B220R has a 4ohm 15" and therefore gets ALL 220watts w/out adding an additional cab.

The biggest problem with AMPEG now is their dreadful quality control.

  • I'm hesitating between buying this amp or SWR workingpro 12 bass combo it is 200 W

  • I would really like to try this amplifier out. I do like his 70's reissue bass as well. Fender jazz bass all the way.

  • these are getting a bad QC rap, how was it?

  • Great review, thanks! Hmm... Now I'm almost tempted... I hope you also reviewed the 210 ?

  • no a geddy lee jazz has 70's style block inlays

  • i know, but i've never seen a jazz bass with block inlays other than a geddy lee,

this one has abalone block in lays

  • oh also forgot to add,

    thanks!

  • ampeg have alot of maketing ,i had the 115 , not so good ! guess im like the other , we buy from the famous makers , haven if soemtimes soem products are not so good...money and marketing rules ! thtas the sad true of business today

  • I own a b 200R, if you are looking for a clean amp that cuts nicely. This is your amp. Also if you do buy one, make sure you test if before purchase. These amps are now made overseas and some lack quality. But if you find one that works, killer amp. You may also want you swap the pre amp 12au7 (Groove Tube) for a jj/telsa 12au7. It really brings out the richness of the amp. Cheers.

  • I'll bet if he owned that amp it would only be a matter of minutes before he ripped it apart to yank out the heat sink and re-wire it for a line out......LOL Does sound nice though.

  • what is a line out/ external speaker out?

    I'm slightly confused =S

  • @castleshade13 - A line out sends a line-level(unamplified) signal out of the amp, typically to the venue's mixing board. This amp has both a 1/4"(guitar cable) and XLR(mic cable) line out. However it does NOT have an external speaker out so you can hook another speaker cabinet up to it. That was his one gripe about this combo.

  • I guess ampeg agrees with you so much that the amp by itself is so great in all its awesomeness you dont need a line out.

  • I'd rather mic a bass anyway. A line out should however be an option.

  • that bass is munted

  • "munted". . . huh?

  • Its a fender jazz bass, show some respect!

  • soz i dnt actz no wat i was tlkin bout. I no wen i wrote it i was thnking about and fender jaguar in fiesta red

  • @gearwire It's british for ugly. Don't worry, it's a beauty!

  • I like this guy,he seems cool.

  • I'd like to hear the cab with the 10's
