  • i watched the sopranos and then the wire and then the sopranos and soon the wire and they are interchangeable. and never forget Oz, those three really make up the holy trinity.

  • The Shadow Line was good. Not great, but it worked.

  • I watched the Sopranos first and loved it, but after watching the Wire, which is just so much more realistic and raw, I think the Wire wins hands down.

They're both still great shows though.

  • The Sopranos is a close second to The Wire.

  • sopranos cant hold a candle to wire.

  • i want to suck mcnulty's cock... out of respect

  • Greatest show of all time.

Sad that it had to come to an end.

  • @policemofo It's the greatest show of all time because it came to an end.

  • Its great that Dominic's favorite Season was #2, that was mine too.

  • Stringer Bell has the same accent.......

  • @mbw2424

Nah. West is a well-spoken Yorkshireman.

  • mcnulty and bunk should have their own sitcom. they retire and run a bar :D

  • i live in uk i was never behind on the show it did air on fx didnt see the point of bbc 2 picking it up

  • Dominic is being too nice about the BBC, the dramas they produce are absolute PISH !

  • his sister taught me in prep school she was the best teacher ever,

  • Shiittt!! When did Richard Bacon contract AIDS?

  • Since birth - he is a total twat!

  • That pic makes West look like off camera Steve McQueen...hahaha

  • yeah hes from sheffield

I didn't realise till my mum told me, which I proper loved because its my hometown :D

  • ive heard of 'the wire' for years and i never saw an episode until last month i began watching and was hooked.

I've just ended season 2 and i had no clue that Dominic West is actually from the UK.. it makes the episode where he "fakes" a accent from the UK quite amusing.

  • Same here.

  • i can understand that sopranos is more commercially successful. To be fair the wire can get complicated sometimes. Having said that both shows pretty much destroy everything else on t.v

I hope that one day britain might put some money into making a good drama

  • the wire is as good as the sopranos. Im not gonna slip into superlatives like most idiots who just come out and say "oooooo its the best show ever". I havent seen every tv show ever, so i cant say. Its an excellent show, lets leave it at that

  • And I'm somewhat dissapointed, I was hoping Dominic West had a strong Yorkshire accent.

It's pretty mild, couldn't place it, just sounds generically well spoken.

  • Same...I was expecting a thick Sheffield accent!

  • Shiiiiitttttttttttt

  • All the sopranos vs the wire talk is just bullshit. enjoy them both!

  • Plus, The Wire blows it away no problem anyhow...

    pussai

  • I agree with that. People can never enjoy two things that are of equally great quality. They have to compare them both and try to find faults.

    Idiots.

  • the best thing on tv..every aspect is interesting even the political mudslinging which in other programmes may seem really boring...i love this tv series bloody wicked!!!

  • Even better than The Sopranos,i bought the boxset last yr and have watched it from start to finish...

Where TV goes from here will be interesting.....

The actor who played Stringer-Idris Elba, started out on a defunct Channel 5 soap...'Family Affairs'...

  • matt forde is a solid gold ledge.

  • I LOVE Wire. It was the best show ever. Did Not Know Dominic West was a Brit since he was so good at play McNulty. What an amazing actor!

  • Born in Britain to an Irish family.. lol

  • I love The Wire and am extremely proud of our Brits who can pull off American accents. I would never have known until recently. The Wire for me is the best 'show' (being a yank for a sec) to ever grace our screens. Even superior to The Soprano's which comes a close second. I'm only at the end of the third season so still loads of festivities to enjoy. Let the games begin....again. OMAR RULES!!!

  • @anonbeliever1 i-hate-richard-bacon.tumblr.com

  • True dat. True dat, mos def. Murder police.

  • Jimmy McNulty is good police. Real police, mos def. Jimmy is natural police. True dat.

  • try generation kill and the corner both available in the uk on dvd boxsets

    richard bacon is an idiot

  • Lol. He needs a shave :)

  • shouldn't really try to compare them....their two different shows...their both good in their own right.

  • Come on?!... The Wire Rocks...And Soprano's Rocks!...I thought the world had ended when sopranos finished... Whats after the wire?

I hear there's a show on HBO based on the iraq war?? of the same standard.

  • Try Breaking Bad. It may not have the realism (Still not exactly over the top) that the Wire has, but in my opinion the character and story arcs are superior.

It's only about half way through Season 2, so it's pretty easy to get into. I don't think it's being played in England though, I have to watch it online.

  • The Breaking Bad is The Bomb. I have to hold onto my nutz everytime it looks like Brian Cranston is going to get caught.

  • Comment removed

  • He wants how in series 3 he needs to do an English accent (busts up the brothel) and his english accent is shit!

  • That was second season yo

  • ok...... "yo"

  • can't believe the english accent......:-)

  • The wire is the greatest TV show, ever. Nothing will ever touch it!

  • The Sopranos ;)

  • I totally agree. You just get to love those characters. I'm half-way through season 3. It's awesome.
