  • Maybe Robert was under the weather that day.

  • PETER CETERA>>>>>>EEETTTTEERRNNNN..........!!!!!

  • how is Scheff singing this song "rare"?

  • Why is this happening?

  • great tempo for this tune just a bit faster than usual..

  • What year was this?? Sounds like mid-late 90's??

  • @geraci89 wait that sounded like dawayne towards the end?? early 90's?

  • By the way, please blow Bobby a kiss for me!!!! Thanks! Carina

  • As far as having Bobby leave the band, Bobby and Jimmy are the only originals who still show up every night, so that would basically be the end of the band. Hasn't it always been Bobby's band anyway? Unless you're into the original concept of it being all about the music and not about the people. It would be kind of cool if they could just replace members as they retire (like a sports team), and Chicago could be around for generations! That's kind of what they've been doing.

  • Wow, Scheff actually sounds pretty good here! His range is a little low to sing PC's old tenor parts without sounding too much like a goose, but it sounds like he's dropped into where Bobby was in the 70's. So now Bobby sounds like Terry did, and Jason sounds like Bobby did, and Keith sounds like Jason did. Everyone should just move over one spot so they can sing something that fits their range, even if it means we don't get to hear the original artist sing "their" song. It will sound better!

  • By the way, in case you're wondering (and, I have publicly stated this several times before). I have absolutely nothing against Jason, the guy is talented and seems like a very very nice man, BUT, and I mean BUT, there are just some things that I believe go together, and "Beginnings" and Bobby just happen to be very high on that list.

  • Wish I could have seen it live!☺☺

  • Beautifully and very sexy done by Jason!!

  • it's the best i have ever heard Jason sing. He should stay in the low range. He will never be Peter Cetera.

  • Like we all know Robert is the voice we all have in our ears for ever with this song!

Jasons Vocals on this song very good, the song get´s a totally different feeling, it´get´s more feeling of a love song!

A great band with so much potential after 40 years!

  • Yeah, this song is comfortable for Jason, but obviously this song is too low and Jason could sing much higher than thia. i love when he really sings powerful and makes his effort. songs like this don't really show the Jason I truly love

  • Ok jason sounds great here but where was robert?

  • Bobby is the ONLY one who can and should sing this song...PERIOD!

  • @carina2244 thats interesting! taking in count that the range of Lamm is very very narrow...personally I can't understand why he is still with the band! (well, truly, I Under$stand his issue..hahah)...but Bobby is the most repleaceable guy around Chicago..!!!!!! Greetings Bobby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @cetera06 Are you tone deaf? Bobby wrote over HALF their first album aside having the most soothing voice, from being the most diplomatic one in the band. He and Walt.Bobby doesn't need ca$h...there's a Lamm family trust fund set up decades ago. Personally, I like his baritone voice. All cetera does-aside from reaching the "high notes" w/his range is growl...although I do like the "high notes," I 'll take Lamm's voice and the late Terry Kath's ANYDAY.Carina's right.RL wrote this, too

  • @cetera06 You are either uninformed, misinformed or chloroformed when it comes to Bobby’s body of work and the contribution that work made to the everlasting popularity of this group, or you just viscerally object to my comment about Bobby being the only one who should sing this song. Either way, please do your homework before stating that Bobby's "range" is very narrow since the "facts" obviously do not support your statement.

  • @carina2244 KUDOS to you carina2244! cetera06 is a Lamm fan...right?!? Besides: everything else aside, Bobby has the best head of hair for someone in his sixties while peter is " parachuting" down the back and RL has that terific height. I like peter but to say RL should leave Chicago is assinie. He's the best crooner since Sinatra and Crosby. And he has a wider range that what was stated.

  • @cetera06 I would annihilate the (nonexistent) basis for your comment. If you’re working under the pretext of asking Bobby, “what have you done for me lately?” that is irrelevant since, in my opinion, Bobby doesn't even have to pick up a pen and write one more note for him to secure his place -- until he's 600 years old -- in the group. (cont. below)

  • @cetera06 and an informed, socially conscious citizen who was, at the least puzzled and at most, outraged at what was happening on college campuses where these draft dodgers were hiding out under the guise of receiving an education. This song was brilliant and enduring in its message. As far as I'm concerned, even if I were to stop at this point, and I am going to since there is really no need to go on, (cont. below)

  • @cetera06 In my opinion, his masterpiece, "Dialogue" embodies all of the elements of a song whose message will remain relevant forever. It was, at that time, a very controversial and politically charged 'dialogue' between an apathetic student, who most likely represented a rich and privileged scion who, unlike his poorer counterpart was not subject to the draft in Vietnam, (cont. below)

  • @cetera06 His later offerings including, "Wake Up Sunshine", "It Better End Soon" (co-writing credit with Terry and Walt), and "25 or 6 to 4", arguably, the best rock 'n roll song ever written about writing a song, further cemented his ability to simultaneously be a voice of political and social consciousness, his ability to write popular songs that could thrill the masses and his ability as an artist who could more than 'dabble' in the blues. (cont. below)

  • @cetera06 At first, I thought to myself, 'this comment doesn't even dignify a response'. But then I thought, 'WHAT?'. First of all, right out of the gate, as LibraLady pointed out, Bobby wrote, "Beginnings", "Question 67&68", "Does Anybody Really Know What Time it Is?", and, "South California Purples", for their debut album, CTA. Each a total masterpiece in different musical styles and a testament to Bobby's musical prowess and VERSATILITY. (cont. below)

  • @cetera06 As far as his vocal range, he is now in his sixties and while most singers lose some elasticity in their vocal chords from use and age, his deficit is not discernable enough to call his range very very narrow. He is an amazingly gifted composer and musician; and, I dare say that vocally he remains quite an engaging performer.

  • @carina2244 what does the "age" has to do when the man never got out of a range he's been singing since '67???? you want to talk about "age-range" ?? see Dennis DeYoung, David Gates, Neil Diamond, Cetera!..Again, thank you for make your point, and thanks for viewing this channel as a great fan of Chicago, I must say that the band should feel very good to know that fans like us exist!

  • @cetera06 You are mistaking "passion" for "anger". I rarely get angry. I do, however, often get passionate. I am a great fan of Peter Cetera's and Neil Diamond's. I have been to several Neil Diamond concerts starting in the 1970's and I know for a fact that he has lost some of his vocal range as has Peter. Who cares, they're still great. That's neither here nor there since you seem to believe that Bobby never had a vocal range. You are mistaken, and MILLIONS would agree with me on that point.

  • Robert lamm is a part of Chicago, not all but part. Just like all the others in the band are only a part. Robert has his style and when you hear him sing you recognize it as Chicago. Chicago has been one of the best pop groups in my opinion because of the talent by all the members of the band. They all have there style and that is what makes up Chicago. He may have the same range but he sings the way he does and its one part of an awesome, timeless rock band. I like him!

  • @carina2244 Robert Lamm sure is the most gifted musician ever! I'm his fan for more than 40 years BUT I also LOVE Jason Scheff! Can't wait to see them BOTH witth Chicago in Paris, July 4, 2011! 33 days to go!

  • @marmont48 Hi Ingrid, So nice to hear from you. I'm happy that you like Jason. As you can tell, I don't take change (when it comes to CHICAGO anyway) very well!!! In the months since I have written this, many Jason fans have written to me extolling his virtues. He is, no doubt, talented and seems like an awfully sweet guy, I just somehow can't get over losing Peter in that spot. That said, Jason has done a more than admirable job and for that I say "kudos" to him. Enjoy the show in Paris! Carina

  • @carina2244 thanks for your answer, Carina! I will enjoy the show in Paris! They're doing great here in Europe right now (Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden). Amazing, still SO MANY fans come to their concerts! Awesome! btw. I'm also a huge Peter Cetera fan! Wish he did something new...solo, gr. Ingrid

  • @carina2244 wow!! that was an answer my friend!! I really thank you and all the viewers who express their points of view!, but, taking aside all your great passionate anger, I still can't see his contribution to this mega band in the past 30 years.and my friend..it's not fare that a guy with his talent has done NOTHING but holding to his 30 years old music success!.I'm really sorry if that turns you angrier but is the true..we need to make new things!!living of the past victorys it's a shame..

  • @cetera06 I sincerely hope that you're not advocating an original member of the band "step aside" to allow for new blood? That would be both incomprehensible to the groups' fans and the END of CHICAGO. You can add as many new members as you want to your "dream" team, just don't even believe for one second that they would or could take the title from the reigning "kings" or that they would deserve to be called, CHICAGO. Nice talking with you. Cheers! Carina

  • @cetera06 Robert also sang the songs that he sang just like Peter and Terry. I think that is what he contributed to Chicago. He sang great songs and those songs would not be there if not for him.

  • @panabal I don't think he meant Robert has not contributed anything to the band, rather he has had no hit songs since the early 1970s and only had a few at that, if he was a solo artist he would have been know as a one hit wonder, and we would be sitting here saying does anyone know what happened to Robert, because he would have long been forgotten. Ceter06 is right he is the most replaceable musically, there are tons of musicians that can play as well or better, and sing in his smallish range.

  • It is obvious. Jason sounds much better singing in lower key. This is definitely what he needs to do now with all those old Cetera songs. Nice interpretation here overall!

  • I love it! If Robert isn't singing this song.. Jason is my second choice. The key is perfect for him.

  • C'mon man give a s... for jason sheff,,,,

  • Bloody brilliant! One of the best songs of the very early 70s! Thanks for the excellent posting!

  • no... i dont like this version..much to soft...this song needs the voice of RL

  • Oh wow this was pretty good! Great job Jason.

  • WHOA! This iiiiis DIFFERENT! Go Jason! You rawk m'brudah!

  • Jason, Brilliant!!!!!

  • What year is this from?

  • I could tell you thaat but i don't see JJ's belly lol. Scheff is an outstang player, Jimmy wiggles alot. The girls like that. He looks good (even though you can't see him). thank you Chi Boys.

  • You're right about Jason. He said somewhere that his weight cycles with the different set lists that are changed every few tours.

Saludos!
