Nice video."Like the guy on the intercom says "Have you ever driven one of those things? The steering wheel is in your lap.." Yes, I have for 44 years and in the street racing form. To the nea sayers, How fast do you think street cars went 20 years ago??? I am still racing mt street 62 vette today with about 10 other similar vettes and doing quite well here in North Jersey. I hope you are still racing the car today.
My dad was 5'7" and the steering wheel was in his lap and the pedals had 3" of wood. I didn't need the wood.,. The worm and sector steering had the really nice feed back. And so on.... My dad bought it in 1966, I bought in 1982 and sold it in 1999. ( Think I had the only corvette with over 100,000 miles, everyone I met at a car show, etc had a 57,000 mi car and it reved to 9000.. I felt so lonely....) My neighbor had 2-62's, a 66 L88, the 3rd 53 made and a 57 Bel Aire. All gone.
A saginaw!? I sold a few on ebay to guys racing back east. nascar and drags, I sold zero, 1,2, 3 grove input snouts. And the good was has like a 3 something 1st! Must go about 35 in first! this is 72mph@7800rpm. I just posted another another version with lots of other cars.(Did I tell you had 3 500cc Cagiva WMX bikes? c. 1987. sold them ,too)
yah, thats quite a balancing act to get the car rolling off the line & then out to 70 MPH in first gear.then you can start banging gears. you told me about the cagivas were they anygood ?
very interesting to watch you bring the car of the line. The little chevy rear ends were not very strong. After you get it rolling most of the battle is done. 2.20 1st gear ratio sucks especially with any RE gearing in the 3s. I pulled a Muncee close ration out & replaced it with a saginaw 3.10 1 st ratio from a vega. I had 3.50 RE ratio. I did not hammer it, it held up, much nicer to drive than the close ratio Muncee. Now they have 5 & 6 speed manuals.
Like the guy on the intercom says "Have you ever driven one of those things? The steering wheel is in your lap...hahaha......" And your feet are stretched out..... A friend was at a party and he told me an Italian girl said "Ferrari, I spit on Ferrari, I tell you a real car: a real car is a black 59 Corvette" (!) Well, At least a Ferrari has real brakes...Oh, MrDavincy is mad because I told him his sacked out Impala is only worth $2K or so. I just sold a clean '65 for $5600.
Wow - 7200rpm! At least that is what it looked like on the first run.
Great vidddd!

well, it would rev to 7800. Too bad it didn't hook up as well as it reved up. (And I had a ignition miss)
