Matias, you're an idiot. It's not about an innocent fan wanting to congratulate Rafa. It's about the fact that it wasn't known he was a fan until AFTER he kissed him. Security didn't know what the guy's intentions were, good or bad and still let him walk right up to Rafa to do whatever he wanted. The lesson we learn with Monica should never be allowed to happen again no matter where the event takes place.
When Rafa became #1 I was afraid that a Fedfan Nadal-hater might do what that crazy Steffi Graf fan did in 1993. The situation was similar in many ways.
I completely agree w/ Nigelxman. That spot on the court is an area not for fans during or after matches. The mere fact that the fan - considered an intruder already at the incident - made it there is a hole in security already. Again, I'm grateful that this guy is a Rafa fan...but what if he's a Gunter Parche. That's really not gonna be funny.
I agree. Rafa may be cool out there and is just showed how amazing he was but this is not actually a nice occurence. This is lapse of security! I got a little frightened when I learned of this because the first thing that came to my mind was Monica Seles at Hamburg in 1993. Thank God this is a Rafa fan, but if its somebody else - say some lunatic fan of Roger or Murray with a Swiss knife - that ain't gonna be funny anymore. I hope we won't forget that most shocking event in sports at Hamburg.
i love rafa!!! the guy got arrested and i think rafa should have done something or said something to prevent that i lnow that its not his problem but its just a big fan
Rafa did enough not condemning him for what he did. Nadal is a cool guy who treats his fans alright. Now the US Open wants to convict the guy to prison just because they had a terrible security hole.
Matias, I understand what you are saying and to be honest, I would have probably done the same thing, but after what happened to Seles, you really can't be too careful. Are you even awaare of what happened to Monica Seles? I guess you think it's perfectly fine too what that Spanish idiot did to Federer at the French?
Thank God this guy wasn't a threat but after what happened to Monica Seles, you can't be too careful. Pathetic security. Really inexcusable after what happened to Federer at the French. But how cool is Nadal for not letting it bother him even a little bit? If I was a tennis pro and some guy came rushing me on the court I wouldn't find it too amusing. What do you guys think? What would you have done if you were Rafael?
oh common, he just kissed him, it wasnt a terrorist attack

Great security system in place? What a fucking joke. If he actually wanted to hurt him, that woman had no chance of stopping him.
