Like the earlier poster, while the coil springs may make the ride better, that is not good for a utility vehicle for someone other than truck lifestylers. For me a truck's priority is utility and towing and payload are a big factor. The leaf spring is a plus for ride but at a great price on utility. They boast the 9100lb towing but that is a mid-point on Fords. Considering the thirsty engines, fewer gears and light duty towing without towing electronics in a comprehensive format- NA Ford is #1.
@rodneylw10 they can tow more than 9100 they just post that so u dont try and tow way more than is safe. and thats not mid point on ford ford lies ALOT about everything
I'm buying this just for the coil springs. I'm so sick of leafs hopping, it can be scary in a hard corner, and they're too stiff offroad. Prolly less sag with leafs but I'm just haling dirtbikes, quads and snowmobiles light duty shit.
@MoparDodge93 I'm a chevy guy, but even I can see it's worth. Why choose it? Well it gets roughly the same amount of power as the biggest V8, it tows 11,300 just like the 6.2, the better mileage, faster than all the V8's they make, and they have proven the durability with the torture tests they did last year. Owners are reporting they are seeing 24-26 mpg if you keep out of boost. I can't see how they are digging themselves in a hole when the ecoboost is out-selling every other engine they have.
I don't like Dodge cars but Dodge trucks are the best ever, especially the models available with the Cummins diesel. None of that Powerjoke shit for me please.
@77NavySEAL77 Lol nope I don't like the Chargers or Challengers, they don't have the technology under the hood like many other imports do. If I was a buyer I wouldn't want to spend my money on something imports were able to accomplish over a decade ago. Again though, Dodge trucks are absolutely amazing. My uncle owned an 89 Ram for his lawn care business with the 5.9 V8 and it ran the road with ease.
@7477238 the dodge trucks hemi's are the same hemi's that are in the chargers and the chalengers... or any car with a hemi from dodge for that matter so they have great technology under the hood, just saying
@77NavySEAL77 The Hemi is well suited for the truck due to the high torque output and lower revs but for a sedan/coupe a smaller package would be better. I mean the 300C gets smoked by a Lexus GS350 with a V6.
I like this truck, but was very surprised to learn that Dodge did not hydroform the Ram's new frame. In fact, it's a fully-boxed frame made up of two welded c-channels. I would have expected hydroforming in this day and age in a new truck frame.
i have a 2000 dodge durango with a 5.9 and ilove it. 107,000 miles on it and it runs great. some day i will have a ram like this one. ooh and before i was allways a gm man
too bad this might be the last of the dodge ram. fiat is talking about making dodge a car only brand. i really hope they dont get rid of it. cause this version is really good
watching these truck videos fills me with envy!!! as I'm sure many folks in the U'K' like me would say! .. we pay 3 and a half times what americans pay for gas , you can't park a full size truck in our carparks-at all. and the government would yearly 'TAX' you to death for a beautiful Dodge Ram like this one,but... it doesn't stop an "english redneck" country boy like me dreamin....I wanna "man's" truck not a euro box shite wagon ! Dodge....I salute you! what a fantastic cool truck!
I love it. Made the switch from GMC/Chevy trucks when I bought my '03 Ram. Have been very happy and will never go back to GM. Ford is just out of the question all together.
I disagree, the 09 Ford and Dodge are practically identical except the Dodge has way more power and better ride.
I got a 09 Ford 250 SuperDuty with a V10 and my 96 Ram 2500 V10 has already beaten it in reliability.
The F250 broke its tailgate the very first day of work with 8 sheets of cheapo sheetrock and I have had it back to the dealership 4 times now for replacement and not even to 20k yet.
i hate to say this but i don't like the new Dodge Ram... i just don't like how it looks and i would still think that it wouldn't give much room in the truck...
Before the 1950s that most pickups had inline 6. Those things were beat to hell on farms ect. Look how well they held up. Most folks dont need a v8. I was going to buy a compact truck but most get bad write ups in magazines, internet, ect. With the rebates ect a full-size pickup is better deal then the compact. The MPG between a 4 banger or v6 midsize is not that much different the full-size with v6. Plus a full size with v6 is just something different. I miss having stick in full-size.
US V12's? Umm...not quite. V8's, yes. 10's, not even, 12's? No. Viper = V10 GT40 = V8 Corvettes = V8 American staples usually are V8's Aston Martins = V12's nowadays Carrera GT = V10 '10 R8 = V10 Ferarri Enzo = V12 Pagani Zonda = V12 Ferarri F360, 430, Scuderia, 458 = V8 Ferarri F550 = V12 Lambo Mucielago = V12 Lambo Gallardo = V10 Looks like the Europeans have that down to a science, not us. And V4's? Absolutely not. INLINE 4's maybe, but not V's. V4's haven't been used since the 70/80's.
When you say Europeans you mean Italians right? Sure Italy is in Europe, but it's Italians that have the v12 down to a science, not really Europeans. Im sure if you were to ask anyone, they would say Italy has the v12s not Europe. Oh and btw, Aston Martin's V8 was twice as good as their v12 models. Dont expect them to continue with it after the DBS. And one last thing, V10s suck. They have no torque. Thats why we stick with the V8.
@JeremyFuhenstasser we have a 3000+hp abrams tank with reactive armor which is virtually unstoppable. and can outrun and outflank virtualy any tank. its main cannon can punch through anything on the battlefield and has a different type of ammo for any situation. plus those chinese will probably get lead poisoning and die from the paint on theirs anyway. so take that.....whatever you are.
@JeremyFuhenstasser dumbass i was in the military, they are powered with twin apache helicoptor engines. they put out enough heat to roast anything remotely near the rear of them.
oh really? how about the nissan gt-r, the subaru wrx sti, the mitsubishi lancer evolution, the honda nsx type-r, the toyota supra turbo, the mazda rx-7 twin turbo, and the nissan 300zx turbo? are you telling me these cars have no balls? because a lot of these cars outsell and outperform their domestic competitors.
a nissan gt-r, for example, will blow the doors off of a corvette zo6.
its a nice truck but it just isnt as durable as the competition
