  • I vote for the XDm because it´s good old clean American quality, instead of that Austrian clonker.

  • three ounces of lead is more than three ounces of polymer? Three ounces is three ounces brother lol

  • Thanks , well done

  • Lol at 3oz of lead being heavier than 3oz of polymer!!! Good one!

What side of the roof does the rooster lay its eggs on a new moon vs a full moon? Lol.

  • How do you fire that Glock subcompact without getting bit by the slide?

  • Does your gun arm ever get tired?

  • When comparing weights please include the mag. More of an apples-to-apples then.

  • great vid! thx hickok

  • Have you ever tried the gong one handed ?

  • What are the differences in cost between these two pistols?

  • hickok your my idol and, i mean that!

  • "i have a lot of excuses today for missing." DING DING DING DING

  • can you post a website or dealer information for your Talon grip tape? I cannot find the tape for sale online. Thanks

  • @KSkinner740 just google talongungrips it's the first site you'll see.

  • dam both thos weapons are awesome. it would be hard to choose.

  • i saw the video from the 2012 shot show on the new xds .45, looks like its gonna be the perfect ccw .45. cant wait to see one in person.

  • i think glocks shoot better because lower bore axis

  • man you can really see those 45 slugs dropping at that range quickly by the goat/gong.

  • Really appreciate these reviews that you post, after reviewing about ten of them I had to subscribe,I'm considering purchasing a xdm 3.8 9mm as well as the bushmaster ar 15

  • I would love to see this comparison done again with the new XDS in 45ACP but i know that's not gonna be for at least a year, and don't worry I'm not requesting it cuz i know its nearly impossible to one of those kind of guns anytime soon. Great comparison, Great vid, Great channel, I expect nothing less from this great guy i known to enjoy from my experience watching you for over a year now.

  • with "glock" on your hat im thinking that you like the glock best:)

  • @GAPPING10, Yep, I never try to hide that fact. I find quite a few guns that come really close for me, but for carry guns, I can't seem to find anything that works better for me.

  • @hickok45 I just took delivery of a Glock 26. Would that fit your holster? Can you tell me exactly what that holster is? I've been searching for one just like that and cant seem to locate one. Thanx! Great job on the vids. You're the reason I bought a Glock.

  • good review. ive been trying to figure out which one of these i should get. this helped alot.

  • Hey hickok, Love your videos and reviews! but your size reviews are very decieving~ How big are your hands? I remember watching a video where you said you were 6'5" cause if you are then you probably have pretty big hands? So I just wanted to clarify cause a glock 26/27 looks pretty small in your hands but in my hands it still looks like im holding my glock 19! LOL so i went with the kahr cm9 for my ccw after watching your pm9 videos.

But is there a subcompact xdm 3"?

  • @Ag47SilverSurfer no just the 3.8

  • That bloody Gong!

  • sir, your hands are very missleading to the actual size of the gun

  • I love when hickok makes little comments that poke fun of people who review these guns and get down into some experiment to find out which is better, and he is really a better reviewer because he tells you what you need to know about the guns basic size and weight and then informs you that all of the guns are more accurate than you are and as long as you practice you will be able to do just fine with whatever you practice with. Thank you Hickok for all you do.

  • I hate blocky guns! But they are hell fun to shoot.

  • was thinking about a XDm 45 compact... lovely gun!

  • You are the reason I carry my g30sf, great video as usual...

  • Another fine job Mr. Hickok45. Not sure why you get some of the odd comments but to each there own. The way you present each topic Is impeccable.

    Happy NewYear to Ya

  • You’re a great shot, however, you don’t carry a lot of clout when refer to physics of the slide when you’re not sure if 2 quarters equal one half or that you think that 3 oz of polymer weighs less than 3 oz of lead???? If you’re trying to be funny… ha ha.

  • @Rio734, I'd never try to be funny; I'm just not very smart. :-)

  • @hickok45 pssh. Just say your brain farted. It happens to all of us.

  • @Rio734 3 oz. is 3 oz. the volume of poly would just be greater :)

  • @Rio734 Learn sarcasm before you venture out into the world.

  • you could see the rounds flying in the air when he was shooting at the sheep!!! that was baaaaaddddd (in sheep voice) =P

  • Handfuls of big, beautiful, brass .45 in high definition... oooo.....

  • @SCOUTCHRIS, Have you even FIRED a .45 ACP? My guess is No. :-)

  • @SCOUTCHRIS go home to mom and stay there

  • The Glock .45's have octagonal rifling, all others models have hex

  • 3 OUNCES OF LEAD AND 3 OUNCES OF POLYMER ARE BOTH THREE OUNCES its just different amounts!!!!!!!!

  • 2 quarters= almost half...?

  • XDM-Glock

  • Why do you not weigh the guns loaded as they would be carried? Everything else you do is helpful but I never have understood why people weigh the guns empty.

  • @MrCWG19, Personally, I don't find that very useful. People carry different weight ammo, sometimes different magazines, and even different numbers of rounds in the same magazine.

I'm comparing the two guns with each other. Ammo and numbers of rounds might vary, but the guns are the guns - apples to apples.

  • Just saw one of those 45 compacts last night at the gun store while shopping Glocks. Its my next handgun purchase.

  • lol 2 quarters translates to 1 half, so yes that would be half an ounce of difference

  • With the cigar test you could fit the gun and two magazines easy

  • Is it just me or is hickock an AMAZING shot? He shoots as good with those compact handguns as i do with a 20" rifle

  • @SuperFanny12345

welcome to the realization of what everyone else realized 2 years ago. lol watch his 230 yard vids

  • 15:31 there goes my left ear.

  • The Sharper Image = Avon

  • you can see the roound in the air with the xdm

  • 3 ounces of lead weighs exactly the same as 3 of polymer. Good video though

  • Why not do your tests & review with the correctly sized magazine for the compact instead of the magazine for the full size?

I'd never heard that you were not supposed to shoot cast bullets out of a G-30. I've shot plenty through mine without any modifications to OEM GLOCK. I wouldn't try it in the .40 cal.

  • @BonnieBlue2A It is due to the hexagonal rifling on all glock factory barrels.

  • im actually getting a Glock 30sf on friday...ive been looking @ both guns for a bit now ever since I saw your 1st video but since I live not that far from Glock, It made the choice easier...

  • XDM FTW!!

  • cigar box fit. haaaaahahahaha...... love it.....

  • Xclnt vid Hickok !! I own both and have carried the XD45c as primary for a couple years. Now that the XDm45c is available, I may have to give it a try too. Nice thing about the XD/XDm 45 .. mags are interchangeable .. not so with the 9/40's. Another big difference, the XD's are pure single action, and the Glocks are double or double single depending on how you trap reset. Both are very good pieces!!

  • I would love to have both, I love G30 and I own a XDM9compact; And even though they are in the same category there are differences that make them both desirable. Buy both I would say :). I preffer the slide release in the XDm and I dont mind the grip safety. I know that its up to personal preferences if you like .45's

  • I wonder if your neighbors ever complain about your shooting noise?

I fugure you are located in a rural area where shooting is permitted on your property since you have a range set up on your land. But some people will complain anyway.

We are rural here, located about 50 feet from the city limits and have been disrupted from shooting here.

Rural is rural and city is city...........

  • @keltecgirl I think Hickok mentioned that his neighbor is a cop and he shoots as well. Sometimes you can hear the neighbor shooting in the video backgroundl. :)

  • @spallatial that would be fellow youtuber TNoutdoors9

  • Don't get me wrong, Glocks are awesome. But damn those are some ugly pistols.

  • hickok, im looking for a relatively cheap handgun that has similar specs to a ruger p95 yet in 40 cal. safetyless but with a double action trigger, and a hammer release. any suggestions?

  • I'm thinkin about trading in my XD 9mm for a Glock 19.

  • @aldphillip2003 That would be a smart move, IMO.

  • Comment removed

  • Hickok is great. But i think the camera man is awsome for all the close ups and his steady hands..

  • 3 ounces is 3 ounces LOL ! it dosent matter if its lead or plastic or water.sorry, just had to point that out. great video .very well done !

  • @hickok45 thanks for getting that straight

  • 4 people work for S&W

  • I love the sound whenever he walks downrange. *jingle* *tinkle* *jingle*.

Must be more brass than gravel down there by the end of a video!

  • like the measurements and weights. Very interesting about the differences between the slides and lowers.

  • 2 amazing guns... ill take the G30

  • "Let me see if I can hit anything with my left hand"... Boom boom boom every shot except for 1. fucking great.

  • @6969shutup It basically means a bullet made out of lead. No copper jacket, no copper wash (which is what you might see on .22 long rifle ammo), just lead.

  • 3 ounces of polymer weighs the same as 3 ounces of lead...........

  • 360p YouTube bogged down for some time now.

    Now down to 240p watching

Using Chrome browser and RockMelt browser

  • Hickok, can you make, taurus Judge vs s&w The governor video?nice video...

  • You're such a monster. I wish i could shoot half as good as you

  • Glock is so nice gun..

  • i would drive all the way to where ever hickok lives just to put some lead on the gong with him :}> your the shit hickok

  • hickhok, do you reload your brass?

  • Hickok, its pronounced "Holla" point. Also, I have consulted the top scientist at MIT and NASA, and both have confirmed 2 quarters is equal to one half.

  • What kind of camera do you use?

  • 3:04 thats what she said.

  • looks like 3 people are either m+p/sig fans, or card carrying liberal anti-gun clowns :0)

  • Dude i've been waiting the akimbo shooting till the end... But nothing :(

  • H45-Your shooting never ceases to amaze me!I have carried the XD for the last few years, but I recently purchased a Glock30 and it has replaced the XD as my everyday carry gun.I still love my XDs,but I am much more accurate with the Glock for some reason.Thank you for another great video and Merry Christmas!!!

  • 7:34 SPAS-12? That would be fun to shoot :)

  • i carry a Glock 21, just cause i like the size of the thing it feels like it is a little bit more intimidating then a compact or sub compact

  • 3:01 that's what she said

very good review, just turned 21, wanted to get the glock 30 anyways, this review reinforced my plan!

  • @ Hickok... Glockitty Glock Glock Glock... you're such a Glock guy! No, there's nothing wrong with that. I think that with those Frankenstein sized mitts of yours, the Glock just fits you better, even though you "hate the hump". For pointability and trigger break, I much prefer the XD and thanx for showing off this 3.8 .45.. This is the gun I want for personal carry. No disrespect to Gaston (I do have a 26 G-4), his guns work. I just prefer the XD platform. Keep on a shootin ya old goat!

  • Hey HickOk......will you adopt me? I'll even clean up those casings for you.

  • Hey Hickok I observed closely as you fired both weapons and see more muzzle rise on the XDM, I definitively see more control and faster follow up shots with the Glock.

  • hickock you should do the glock 18 because thats like one of the only glocks that you havnt done and its automatic ;)

  • The goat was protected by a forcefield in that zoomed-in shot with the XDm.

  • Never seen red painted primer before....interesting

  • Hey Hickok do you shoot with both eyes open?

  • The Glock slide rides on 4 (small) metal rails in the frame. I've never broken down an XDm but have been told conflicting stories. One owner told me the slide rode on 4 polymer (plastic) rails in the frame. Another told me that the slide rode on 2 metal rails in the front and 2 polymer rails in the rear of the frame. Frankly I'm surprised that the slide doesn't (??) ride on 4 metal rails, as it seems polymer rails just wouldn't be too durable.

  • I dont know why but when he said "rub the ground" i just lost it

  • I dont have right to own a handgun in communist bulgaria i can have only shotgun and rifle and only use them for hunting.Crap country

  • i carry my guns in a cigar box and my cigars in a gun case

  • three ounces of lead is heavier than three ounces of polymer = pound of bricks is heavier than a pound of feathers

  • @TheeMcDonger but.. they both weigh a pound.. O.O

  • Looks like your ram has been in contact with Brandon's ram!

    Fun and informative video! TNX!

  • both are great guns. i tend to prefer the grip angle of the xdm a tad more though. by the way, i must have been glued to this video. i looked down when it was over and was shocked it was 27min long! AWESOME VID! id better than vs, outdoor network, and sportsmans channel. especially because no commercials!

  • I'll take the Glock... and I'm not even a Glock fan :-)

  • Hickock-Why do you always use that 9 round mag in your 30, when the 30 comes with 2 10 round mags and the 9 rounds are not really easy to even get? The 10 round seems to be easier to shoot with even if you don't pressure the extension, and is representative of 99.9999 of the Glock 30's out there. Thanks man.

  • they still got those chrome mags for xd ,i guess i will just stay on dark side with glock . they must not want my money , even if i get mags coated ,i got to do everytime at more cost to me , i dont think so.

  • I would say the overall shape of the XDm is much more appealing and less obtrusive when trying to conceal. There seams to be alot of needless material in the slide of the Glock, making it too wide. I have owned the XDm compact and have shot/handled the G30. The trigger and slide work so much better on the XDm and the grip feels better in the hand. The distance from grip to trigger face on Glock is much too far. Just my take.

  • Your killing us with your humor. 2/4 ounce vs. 1/2 ounce. Your "dry" sense of humor keeps your viewers coming back. I keep telling you....If you like the thickness of the 9's and 40's in Glock your need to buy yourself a G36. As thin as the 9's and 40's (actually slightly thinner), but you get the beautiful 45ACP. You'll learn to get use to the grip thickness (or lack thereof).

  • greetings, i'm semi new to your channel and i was just curious as to what your background with guns is?

  • Hickok deserves a TV show!!!

  • @dinhoopent He should have a segment on Wednesday Night at the Range!

  • @dinhoopent this is his tv show.

  • @dinhoopent

    Discovery Channel perhaps?

  • @Trey 2099

I had a G36 slide on a G30 frame and put 1000 plus rounds through it with no problems or issues. I would still be carrying it of i didn't run into money problems. I sold both guns to a friend and he won't sell them back!

  • Another entertaining vid. I would like to know how the velocity compares between Glocks and others. Glock advertises that you get additional velocity due to the hexagonal and polygonal barrels. Mabe you could get with my other favorite YouTuber, TNoutdoors9 and do a comparison?

  • Or maybe the Steyr m9a1

  • @hickok45, will we ever see a glock 36?

  • "2/4 is almost 1/2 oz", hahahah. =)

  • I recently shot someone else's CW9. Took about 4 shots and just sat it back down. I like my G19 so much better. My wife bought me a G26 for Christmas. I shot it a few times before deciding. My patterns are fairly close size wise between the G19 and the G26. So far, very happy. Now I have my sights on a G21 and G34. She says I have to wait a while. We'll see.

  • Tubevideoguy763 thanks, I have shot older 870's and liked them I just dont own one. I got and old 410 when I was 11 years old it was my dads but it's a single and you have to pull the hammer Back on it so it makes it annoying when I bird hunt and some times dangerous if there are other with me. But thanks for the info

  • 18:56 what is that odd sound, sort of like a low moaning sound? (PS... love it when you shoot the gong - it sounds like church bells!)

  • im pretty sure 3 oz. is oz.

3 oz. can't be heavier than 3 oz.

  • @hockeytown555

LOL I agree :) what he meant is same volume of lead vs polymer. It caught our attention didn't it when he made that statement.

  • @sondris66 s&b has something like fingernail polish on the primers and some ammo even has the stuuff around where the bullet and case meet to make it water proof to some degree. You can even buy the stuff from cabelas.

  • Hickok45 I have a question I am 13 years old (and really enjoy your vids ) I am asking for a Remington 870 20 gauge for christmas but I have heard that a lot of different amo can jam in these guns. Have you every experienced this problem and what amo do you think is the best to use while breaking it in

  • @IH2016 ive hunted with the 870 pump action for years depending on the length of the chamber they'll feed almost anything very well a 3 inch chamber will shoot 3 inch and 2 3/4 a 3 1/2 inch chamber will shoot all sizes

  • and oz of lead and an oz of polymer are the same you tards lol they are both an oz haha its like what weighs more a ton of rocks or a ton of feathers think about it

  • Nice comparison of two very capable guns. I'm partial to the XDM though.

  • Two people must work for Taurus.

  • hickock can you show us you collection of guns?

  • @Xelemgue I doubt he could with how large his collection is, lol.

  • If you mated the XDM slide to the Glock frame the gun would only weigh 1 lb, 5-3/4 ounces. More than three-ounces lighter than the average of the two. John, go grab the Dremel kit.

  • have you ever tried to put a G36 slide on the G30 frame? I've seen it done but would have no idea if it would affect reliability. Or have you tried Glock's slimline pistols? and your opinions?

  • Hickok, not everyone's getting all the joke, maybe go easier on your slower viewers,

  • @swiftcoyote, Well, anybody who doesn't get it just thinks I'm the one who's a bit "slow," I guess, so it's all okay. :-)

  • @swiftcoyote Loving the jokes haha. Two quarters almost half an ounce! 3oz of Lead is heavier than 3oz polymer...haha!

  • you should try out world war 1 and 2 weapons like the ppsh

  • I will stick with my Glock, But the XDM would be a second choice if I couldnt find a Glock LOL. JKW

  • Why are the primers all red? Is that how you distinguish your hand-loads from factory?

  • @sappha58, No, I don't have time to paint primers. :-) That's just sealer that S&B uses on about all their ammo that I've seen.

  • @hickok45 Do you mean the same type of sealers that are in old military ammo. Which have salt in the primers and are corrosive? Is the S&B corrosive ammo?

  • @hickok45 could you do a video with the steyr pistol if you ever get one? The steyr semi-autos are austrian made, too. How about I buy on and you can do review on it and shoot it? The steyr's will surprsie you and can compete with the glock any day.

  • @hickok45 Ahhh... I understand now. Thank you!

  • @sappha58 It's primer sealant. it keeps moisture out of the primer, some of the foreign ammunition comes like that. American ammo may have sealant but its neater so you don't see it.

  • @wastool Thanks!

  • @sappha58 some companies use primer sealant how i understand it is basically it is so if you drop your gun in water the primer doesnt fail

  • @paleokid Cool. Thanks!

  • Yes 3/4 - 1/4 = 1/2

  • I'm really starting to like that XDm. I might have to pick one up to hang out with my G30sf, they seem to play nice together.

  • @NightFly216 I have an XDm in 9mm, 3.8" barrel. It is a great shooter!

  • Seems to me that the entire XD line is attempting to recreate what Glock has already done.

  • @Johnnytcod "johnnyCOD" Hmmm. Anyway, if Lamborghini didn't "attempt to recreate" what Ferrari has already done, and so on and so forth, there would not be competition between manufacturers and the consumer would suffer. Who knows, maybe the XD can come up with something better than Glock, or the XD is good enough to make Glock enhance their firearms even further... It only helps us, the consumer, in the end.

  • @12gaugebleachdrinker You have a very valid point. For me personally I don't really 'dislike' the XD, I just don't' have any reason NOT to get a Glock.

  • The slide weight wud make a big difference, I think its obvious when watching you shoot, if the slide is heavier it will absorb more recoil and leave less to jolt the rest of the frame. But u are totally wrong when u say an oz of lead weighs more than an oz of polymer, however the lead is certainly more dense

  • @ngDetecter Just FYI he's being funny, its a comedy thing. :-)
