  • its time to get things started S: cough cough cough cough cough cough W blows nose

  • [monster blows horn] gonzo: eef

  • It's actually very interesting to see The Great Gonzo grow as an artist. I mean, at first he was just a huge downer. Now, he's experimenting with animals and courageously asking cows on dates.

  • So the man can't play. The only logical result? Groucho Marx impression. Oh I love it I love it I love it.

  • There used to be a me, but I had it surgically removed.

  • A genius actor!!! Inspector Clouseau! There will never be another!!

  • A Dear Old Friend of mine from the past....Bless Xxxx

  • long live the memory of PETER SELLERS the greatest inspector clesou

  • @HyperMoeMan it's inspector Clouseau :p

  • i was sure scooters eyes were googling at 0:09 or was it 0:07?

  • That's it. I'm giving up the trombone and learning how to play the tuned chickens.

  • This is my favorite episode.

  • I'm always amazed at the talented celebrities that guest starred on this show. You'd think that they would scoff at working with puppets. Of course, we know that the Muppet Show was much much more than a puppet show.

  • @mohinderbauer They did, actually. The guest stars of the first season and a good chunk of the second showed up because the show's writers called in favors and had friends in the business. That changed when Rudolf Nureyev appeared, and the immense positive publicity the show gained as a result was what led to the show being able to have so many high-profile guest stars.

  • I like Season 2 the best. That when "The Muppet Show," was really peaking in popularity. What do you guys think?

  • OK, Shakespeare quotations in the chicken act. Now I understand the reference to "something rotten" in the gypsy act.

  • "Do you have any requests?"

"Yes! But you're going to play anyway!"

What is this song? It sounds like a gypsy/Hungarian ballad, but the music performed on this show is often based on a classical work. Knowing the original work makes the parody even funnier. I don't know this one.

  • the muppet show is monty python as puppets

smart, hysterical, adult-like w/ a hint of child like heart, and awesome at the same time allinone superb

  • peter sellers is the best detective the world ever saw

  • "Listen I run this show and I don't understand it."

Are you in trouble when the boss says something like that? XD

  • ot was 2 be an impersination of queen victoria

    well wat went wrong

i couldnt remember wat she looked like

  • I want to find a Sellers fan who endured "The Party" through its entirety. A good actor, not in my top ten.

  • @jpagano9 I watched all of that movie...and Dr. Strangelove right after.

  • I want to find a Sellers fan who endured "The Party" through its entirety. A good actor, not in my top ten.

  • Sellers character list, by parts:

Clouseau, Groucho Marx, Queen Victoria, Richard III, and the combination of the voices of Hercules Grytpype Thynne and Major Bloodnok through that part where he mentions he had the him surgically removed.

  • "Tuned Chickens,Once More Into The Breach."

  • Yay Inspector Clouseau on the Muppets show

  • anymore talk like that and i will play... lol

  • I've been a huge Peter Sellers fan ever since I saw him in Dr. Strangelove (Which s now one of my favorite movies). His ability to just completely become different people is amazing.

  • Is there no part 2?

  • xDDDDDDXDDDDDD

  • I had this on an LP as a kid and didn't realise it was Peter Sellers

  • the sketch in sellers dressing rooom is so like a goon show sketch!!

  • @gingernorton It does! He even sounds a bit like Col. Bloodnock!

  • I've seen interviews where he shows up as himself, and the way he talks and tells stories, I think I understand why the Muppets decided not to let the real Peter Sellers show up. He was a tragic figure when he wasn't being another person. He said something like: "Before and after, it is pointless and depressing, but when you're out there, when you're doing it, that's when everything is perfect."

  • Chiscringle thiers a story about that when Peter was ask to do the show and agree to do it in half through the show kermit interviews the guest stars but Peter said to the makers of the muppet show you can do whatever you want with me but not be myself I but can't renamber what happened next but he can be the old queen of England Queen Vicktoriea.

  • @collgoff Brian Henson did a presentation during the Time/Life series "Best of the Muppet Show" that described that interview. Turns out that entire interview was the inspiration for this episode.

  • @Floymin That was years ago.

  • "Peter Sellers! 15 seconds to curton, Mr. Sellers! Gonzo!!"

  • it's clouseau

  • Poor Kermit lol. Hes going koo koo.

  • rowlf does have a beautiful voice

  • Look at the unique Style in the 70's / 80's, and look at the crap now what they call Entertainment !

  • right on!!!

  • RIP Peter Sellers.

  • Thankfully Gonzo had nothing to do with his death.

  • Thieves Kidnapped Sam the Eagle

  • peter sellers is absolutely brilliant. his movies were the best. he is the best!

    LOVE Ya M8!

  • and every time he does the chicken/silillique (or howver its spelled) it just gets funnier and funnier!

  • sellers is just absolutely BRILLIANT, he should have been in Monty Python, except that sellers doesn't quite have the same sense of humor

  • Well all the guys in Monty Python loved the Goons and the Goon show, so he was kind of like their predecessor.

  • 2 of my fav together Peter Sellers+The Muppet Show!! wikid!! :D

  • "15 seconds?! I should LIVE so long!"

  • Wow, if I were Scooter and would continue to meet Kermit when he talks - and screams- to "himself", I'd start to wonder about his sanity...

*lol* Gonzo and Peter Sellers have stuff in common? - I like!

And Rowlf's song. - Puter genius! *giggles*

  • The only show on TV that actually works with a laugh track!

  • I want Hercules Grytpype-Thynne in person! Peter Sellers + muppets==genius.

  • Priceless, even.

  • This is pricceless!!!!!!!!!

  • I loooove Peter Sellers! he's absolutely hilarious

  • When the whole world is filled,

    with Mother Nature's noises,

THATS THE TIME TO STUFF COTTON IN YOUR EARS!

    LOL! ^^

  • I could never be myself...

There used to be a me... but I had him surgically removed...

    Such humility said in jest!

  • "I enjoy a good chicken."

One of the best shows EVER!

  • Thanks for posting! I love the gipsy scene.

  • Classic Peter Sellers at 7:30. One of his greatest lines.

  • I will recite a soliloquy from Shakespeare's Richard the Third, whilst -- and at the same time -- playing tuned chickens.

That sounds like one of Gonzo's acts!

  • I put that comment down before the clip was done-I missed the part where:

Kermit: We can't do that on the show.

    Peter Sellers: Why not?

Kermit: Because Gonzo did that last week.

  • "15 seconds? I should live so long." *ducks*

  • That's a whiporwill right there...

    ...classic.

  • A perfect Groucho! Impressive!

  • Wheres Groucho!?

  • 4:13

  • Oh His Voice.

  • "Have you got any requests?"

"Yeah, but you're gonna play anyway!"

    XD

  • It's a shame he only did the Coustaeu bit in the beginning.

  • Clouseau. Inspector Jacques Clouseau.

  • *LOL* I have no idea why I typed Cousteau instead of Clouseau.

  • I agree. Clouseau was my favorite of his characters. Shame he only did it so briefly.

  • I know...I wasn't too thrilled with Roberto Benigni in "Son of Pink Panther" and I'm not sure if I want to watch the ones with fellow season 2 guest Steve Martin.

  • the muppet R gods

  • Sellers didn't have himself surgically removed, he was basically a sh*t (see the book The Life and Death of Peter Sellers). His redeeming factor was that he was a fricking genius and the human race would be poorer without him!!

  • Rolf = <3

  • Great episode, epseically STatler and Wardolf at the begining! Always hilarious!

  • Unfortunately, Sellers did seriously have a problem telling himself from his characters, which is why he never appears as himself in this episode: he pretty much forgot how to be himself.

  • Peter Sellers, GENIUS!

  • Thank you very much! I love Peter in everything he did.

  • There USED to be a me... but I had it surgically removed! God, I miss Sellers...

  • Aah! The goat!
