I realy love this movie!I felt so bad for sweeney when he realysed what he had done when he killed lucy.I dont had any compession for mrs. lovett when she gets throwed in the furnace.Also I felt sorry for joanna: all her live she lived unhappy and incarcerated with the judge.then there comes a men who gaves her hope to get freedom.but what happen? she get throwed in the madhouse!and at least she almost get killed by the father she had 15 years not seen!

So great that the judge got it good just when he thought he had what he had strove to steal all his life. Sad that right before Benjamin got his revenge he was so caught up he killed Joanna! Great actors in this movie. Rickman makes even a swine like the judge have a human edge to him

@kakashi4687 no all she wanted was a happy life with the love of her life, but he was too busy being a psychopath. she was trying to save him from living a bad life with a madwomen who wasnt even lucy anymore but it backfired on her and she was sucked down a dark tunnel. sweeny basically killed himself and he DID kill his wife it wasnt mrs lovetts fault at all she was put in a terrible place. all she wanted was love.

@koranoelie do you really think that it was right to lie to sweeney after you know he would be happy with lucy no matter what state she was in? i think that if she was ever reunited with sweeeney she would slowly start to get better. but mrs. lovette just had to go and ruin all that. i cried so hard when i relized that was lucy because i knew her and him would be fine if not for mrs. lovette.

Mrs. Lovett is a fantastic character, but, like Sweeney Todd, she totally deserves to die. Even more so, in fact, since Mrs. Lovett is the real villain of the story.

@chubbylilloser I think it was a little of both - she wanted to protect Sweeney, and have him for herself. After all, why else would she not run straight to the Beadle when she found Pirelli? And besides, I think she had convinced herself as well that Lucy was indeed dead - what Sweeney killed was just a shell. I think that because of the way she said 'No, I never lied'. It sounded like she believed it herself. And therefore, it can't have been much of a crime, now can it?
