The name's Kouma and the sprite doesn't have the same colors as leila, but they used the same sprite (female thief w/ long hair). It's most probably a unit that didn't make the cut.

I think it is the female version of the Thief. Leila was a thief in FE7; her attacking animation was similar to a Thief, and the map sprite is different from an Assassin map sprite (on the status screen, the animation of an Assassin has them swing there sword, even for a female Assassin, however this sprite moves their cloak). As for promotion, it could be possible female Assassins could promote to Swordmasters, like how Natasha can promote to a Valkyrie whereas Moulder to a Sage instead.

@DarkvindFromIllier That is also possible. I had my sister, a great translator for Japanese, read it. The class title literally translated to "Stealing", or "Thief" in English. As for the Hero Crest, the makers were probably thinking that they should scrap the Fell Contract from the previous game and give Thieves something else to promote with. They could have gone with Hero Crest at first and later switch to the Ocean Crest due to only one class using it.

Can't be, Cath from FE6 is a female thief and her sprite is different. Most likely an assassin. Not surprised if this was a placeholder for a female rogue. They probably decided to leave that concept for a later game though (i.e. Heather from Radiant Dawn).

@lordrath2000 Doesn't matter - Cath had a ponytail. In FE7, when you see Leila get killed by Jaffar, Leila uses the same battle animation as shown in this video, although with different colours. In the data for FE7, the animation above was a female thief, while Leila's data in the game calls her an Assassin. So, technically, it is a female assassin from FE7, because FE8 has no distinction between male and female assassins.

The kanji for that mystery class is 盗賊 (Touzoku). So, it's a Thief in the menu, at least. The description is...

This caused a bit of controversy in FE7, and it confuses me as to why these sprites were put into FE8's original coding.
