It's clear you have little understanding of the events - I highly recommend you read Lazenby's Hannibal's War - the best secondary source I've read on the matter - it may well give you a fresh perspective of things! Hannibal's strategy was a rational and very good one, and really, the only way to defeat Rome - that the allies were so hard to break was not something Hannibal would no without testing it - and even then, he came close to breaking them.

hannibal was a fool now, any great ancient genral knew that with control of the flanks, you essencialy cannot lose, he placed his cavalry at the wings for mobility, but had his veteran infantry been there the result would be the romans being surronded, knowing the battle is hopeless, they would route, cavalry could have hunted the romans and made sure they could not reform another day. Essencialy Hannibal deseved his defeat
Not true. Even with that veteran infantry being on the flanks, the more mobile roman and numidian cavalry in roman service would have still outflanked them. And without the veterans in the center, the center would have cracked faster.
His only chance of winning would have been a better choice of the terrain. Let's be resonable, they fought on a plain field, where every army would be more maneuvrable, and considering both were equal tacticians, the stronger army would have won.
@hubcapproductions - you need to look at the battle differently if you're talking about Zama. Scipio had trained his legionaries to fight in cohorts, essentially making them more tactically capable designed for flanking and rear-attack maneuvers - Hannibal's veterans were placed in the line to prevent this. Essentially, it came down to a slug between the infantry without any grand moves by Scipio - Hannibal led Scipio's cavalry away - which explains why they were gone for so long.
You must remember that History was recorded by the victors.
