Time flies so scary fast.. and before you know it your just another stat. someone who lived and no longer exists. AWESOME video. I searched meaning of life hoping for a video exactly like this. It's amazing watching people react to the largest question of all. I myself learned a lot about life at a young age, through psychedelics, meditation and other mind expanding experiences. Life is a gigantic mystery.. and the truth is that most people just don't want to think about something so large.. so unknown and scary. People like being as secure as possible, having small group of friends, town etc.
It is SO interesting to hear everyone's answers. I am not religious but spiritual and I think that partially that is part of it. This is to respect and learn to love others (not always so easy). Also to achieve happiness through meaningful relationships with others... in my case this is so difficult because it is so hard for me to bond with others. I believe that forgiveness and compassion are key for our growth, and that is to dominate my ego that comes as an obstacle.

People should not have children until they figure out the PURPOSE of life. I think that it's wrong to dump children into the world to figure the purpose of life on their own. There should be a reason for doing everything, especially having children. I think once people sit down and think about it, they will realize that there are no valid reasons for having children beyond selfish desires of wanting children for personal happiness, It should be about the child's happiness, not the parent.

It has provided us with consciousness, a means to make decisons, empathy, and happiness. These have given rise to apparent meaningful aspects of our lives. To me, in the general sense, the meaning of life is life itself. It's like saying what's the meaning of dancing? There is no meaning, and yet it is deeply meaningful. So, just as the meaning of dancing is dancing, the meaning of life is life.

The meaning of life, if we are to not use any religious/cultural/other views and just straight up look at it, is that it has no meaning. The meaning of life then becomes subjective to the individual which is derived from their personal experience of the thing they are questioning, life gives the meaning to life itself. If people say happiness then death is plausible because ultimate happiness, to get away from the suffering and emotions of the world, is when we die. Yet people don't want to die.
I agree with the idea that life is meaningless because we all die anyway. This is if we are to be "realistic" about life because in reality, death is inevitable. Pleasure.... there is a lot of restrictions on pleasure. Say... somebody has pleasure out of adultry. Is it then reasonable for that person to commit adultry? Most/all people would say no, but it's his purpose to fulfill his pleasure right? It's his one life, why take away his pleasure? My personal meaning of life doesn't matter. What matters is that people are able to get as much meaning as they are able to bring out from within themselves. As one achieves a deeper understanding of everything that exists and does not exist, then does that meaning become richer, larger, more accurate, more encompassing, more universal --- i.e. closer approaching the same Meaning which the Creator incorporated into all that S/He Created.

the meaning of life is to survive and pass on genes to our offspring. Nature of course has clever ways of doing this. It has provided us with consciousness, a means to make decisons, empathy, and happiness. These have given rise to apparent meaningful aspects of our lives. We cherish our children, we enjoy laughter, and acknowledge destruction. In these ways, we find meaning. Evolution may be blind, but it's not stupid.

There is no reason and there are no answers to how anything came to exist, existence is impossible to grasp. Religion can help people "understand" reasoning for existence but religion came from existence, if we failed to exist there would be no religion. We compete against ourselves, (ourselves meaning everything around us) for continuing existence even after we no longer exist as individuals. The reason we exist is to exist. Time is a measurement of infinity, does this mean its always present?

The meaning of life, if we are to not use any religious/cultural/other views and just straight up look at it, is that it has no meaning. The meaning of life then becomes subjective to the individual which is derived from their personal experience of the thing they are questioning, life gives the meaning to life itself. If people say happiness then death is plausible because ultimate happiness, to get away from the suffering and emotions of the world, is when we die. Yet people don't want to die.

I agree with the idea that life is meaningless because we all die anyway. This is if we are to be "realistic" about life because in reality, death is inevitable. No matter what you do, how you do it, who you do it for, etc, everything and everyone dies. "Purpose of life is to live a life that has purpose?" What's the purpose of that? That is just circular reasoning. All animals do is eat, sleep, and play until they die. They give birth to offsprings who will do the same thing. Same for humans.

Most/all people would say no, but it's his purpose to fulfill his pleasure right? It's his one life, why take away his pleasure? It makes sense that the profound truth is cliche, having been experienced so many times before. Most of these folks just offered platitudes, but I thought Colin from Denver at 10:34 had something to say. That sense of cosmic connection and balance he talks about, I have definitely been there before, and it was a source of incredible personal meaning. Awareness without thought was the start of finding myself.

My personal meaning of life doesn't matter. What matters is that people are able to get as much meaning as they are able to bring out from within themselves. As one achieves a deeper understanding of everything that exists and does not exist, then does that meaning become richer, larger, more accurate, more encompassing, more universal --- i.e. closer approaching the same Meaning which the Creator incorporated into all that S/He Created.

I think the meaning of life is to EXPERIENCE IT. LOVE!!! Because when you die, you won't have this world anymore, and your chance to love will be gone. In a lot of mythology the gods are jealous of mankind because we have passion. I think Bill Murray figures it out in "Groundhogs Day"

There is no meaning to life , no one owes me ,I owe no one , and thats that,pretty simple the way I see it,make no promises , and dont totally believe anyone. I dont think there is a real meaning to why we are here.I didnt ask to be here I was forced to be here,ask youself that question .If you had that choice to be born or just pass .what would it be ?

Life has no real meaning, at least not a logical one for us "The humans". We are all trapped in this small box and the only way out is death. But in the same time death is what awaits and nobody can escape. So why try to reach the inevitable? Stop thinking that each day is a step, and try to think that life is a step to something ales.

yea meaning is in our own hands. like chuck said. we attempt to give it meaning though it doesnt need it. its in our human nature, our human curioustiy. no way can we stop it. thats why u look at life with such dissappointment. i feel like people who have no meaning in life are just going through a phase in life. you will find hope. you will make meaning. and you will break away from the question. i hope this sparks that little light bulb in your head that u are sad because u make urself sad.

My meaning of life is to manifest a universal sympathy for all people and all sentient beings, to experience life in the fullest possible way, and to reach enlightenment in each and every moment. I would not say that I've achieved this vision, but rather use it as a means to direct my life on a day to day basis.
