A brilliant book and a great video too! Everyone who has been told their symptoms are 'functional' should read this. To investigate the views of one of the most prominent doctors who's trying to resurrect hysteria under a different name visit: neurosymptoms org . In particular read his views on ME. Download the paper mentioned in the All In The Mind section of this website. This is written for neurologists and shows the term 'functional' is a semantic trick.

the website mentioned is a valauable resource put together by a tireless and hard working neurologist. He is a good man. It is just a lot of people think his views on this subject are flawed in some areas.

I agree with you Simon. He is a good man. The problem is what he says on the website and what he says to other neurologists doesn't match. The paper I mentioned, which can be downloaded from his website, starts positively but ends by telling neurologists to look for psychological causes. It even says they should view the patients medical history with suspicion. His intentions are good, but his thinking seems muddled. He does view ME as functional.
