Imagine what would have become of the Chili Peppers if John Frusciante hadn't rejoined the band back then. We wouldn't have Californication, By The Way or Stadium Arcadium. Would they still be in the Hall Of Fame? Probably not. Not that John is solely responsible, but Anthony, John, Flea and Chad are the Chili Peppers. Without the four of them it always feels a little off....which is probably why Anthony feels the need to wear his "OFF" hat for every appearance now.

@TheMan0War You actually believe the band would have accomplished even half of what they had without Frusciante? He had been the primary songwriter for the past 10 years. He wrote most of the music, and a lot of Anthony's melodies. He is also responsible for the change is styles. Even they admit they wouldn't be where they are today without John.

Because in my opinion some of their best music has been with Slovak, Navarro and Klinghoffer, I mean who knows what would have happened if Hillel Slovak hadn't died, nobody does :)

@TheMan0War Hillel was a great guitarist, but Frusciante surpassed him on BSSM. I think they would have stayed where they were with Hillel. I hardly think their best music was with Navarro and Klinghoffer. One Hot Minute had a couple of good songs, but other than that it was a failure. As far as the new stuff, it's okay, but you can barely hear the guitar at all. Besides, Flea has taken John's spot as songwriter, not Josh.

@murfdog19 I agree with that BSSM surpassed anything they did before that era but saying OHM was a failure is a bit harsh. Sure it didn't do to well in the charts but thats because it was so different to anything they had done before, as an album it was amazing, in my opinion anyway :) and I guess if you don't like their new stuff thats your call dude :) I for one think its awesome and believe Josh is a great and easily worthy addition to the group.

@TheMan0War I don't know man. One Hot Minute wasn't THAT different as opposed to By The Way which was VERY different. By The Way still did very well on the charts, and was critically acclaimed. Anyway, I really don't think Josh fits with the band at all. I wouldn't be surprised if, years from now, we find out the band felt the same way; like with Navarro. They played like everything was great, but we found out it never clicked.

@murfdog19 I think By The Way appealed more to a mainstream audience which is why it did well on the charts and critically acclaimed (well that and the fact it fricken rocked) :) while OHM was probably their least mainstream album after BSSM. I agree with that it may not be all it seems with Josh at the moment as it did happen with Dave and we were oblivious, but Josh as a replacment for me seems a perfect match, considering his bond with John :)

@dieguetti24 I think there is a HUGE difference in sound. Josh is buried in the mix on the new album, barely heard at all. John's guitar was always right in your face, and was a huge part of the Chili Peppers sound. He just doesn't look right up there either. Frusciante was the definition of cool, while Josh almost looks nerdy on stage.
