At 4:56 a man shouts (as I hear it) "UNOHTAKAA TARJA!" and I really agree, you should forget about her already when talking about Nightwish of today. Anette is a very good singer, and is constantly getting better. She sang this very well.
She sing very well this, trust me bad performance of her was nemo, ever dream, wishmaster and the other tarja songs, this is the first song that likes me performing by her but of course i prefer tarja always
Anette's not a bad singer, but when they fired Tarja, they took away the operatic feel and reeally the main thing that set Nightwish apart from every other symphonic metal band. 'Dark Passion Play' wasn't bad, but it sounds just like something Within Temptation or Visions of Atlantis would have done. Whatever this band is, it ain't bad, but it certainly isn't Nightwish.
Anette's singing style totally doesnt match Nightwish's songs from older albums. Anette should just keep to the newer songs. She's destroying this beautiful song........

Actually I think that she sing really good this song. Of course it's something totally different from the original sung by Tarja, but anyway Anette's warm voice suits well to Sleeping Sun.

Tuomas, Jukka Marco and Emppu didn't choose Anette just becaose she can sing. Her nature was also important. The biggest problem with Tarja was that no-one of the band members didn't talk much to each other. Anette made the boys to talk and helped them. That's why thigs are now better.
Singing skills are a big plus but getting along with the others is important too. Tarja didn't get along well so I don't think that boys want her back. I don't miss her at all like her own music. It's horrible.
can we please stop blaming anette for "ruining nightwish's image" or whatever. It was and still is TUOMAS' band, not Tarja's.Tuomas chose anette and is happy with her. She did not ruin anything, Tuomas merely changed it. If you don't like it now then tough luck because Tuomas does and that's all that really matters.

She is just struggeling. Her voice is not as powerful as Tarja's. And she just rewrote the tune of the song because she cannot sing out a lot of notes. Ridiculous and miserable.
Anette should go back to sing in the Abba cover band where she came, her voice is enough for that but not for Nightwish
There's a HUGE difference between vocal STRENGTH and vocal RANGE. Tarja has a wider and higher vocal range than Anette, but they're about the same in vocal strength when they're each singing in their most comfortable vocal range. This is where Tuomas and the guys went wrong with choosing Anette...she has the vocal strength, just not as high a vocal range as most other Nightwish songs demand.
I was there, they were / are excellent, Anette doesn't suck at all and I really hope that they NEVER go back to operatic vocals again whatever happens!

I don't think so. (Pop)-Anette can't sing -(especially old Tarja's songs), she is not pretty AS TARJA, and she wears clothes like Amy Lee from Evanescence. Anette CAN sing, she just sings differently, get used to it or stop posting on these videos. And I think what she's wearing is better than that creepy yellow dress with matching mic that Tarja had. I saw Amy Lee About 2 years ago in very similar clothes, but don't forget about Amy age she is young enough to wear clothes designed for young girls, not for 40years old ladies!!!! Tarja looks perfect although she is over 30 she looks great. Anette is about 40?! if they like 40, they could take to the band - my mother - she is 50!!!! buahahahahahahaha! sorry Nightwish WAS metal band!!!! now they play rocky, sing-pop!!!!

well.. no one said these songs were tarja's. all that was said was thats these songs were MADE for tarja, meaning tarja was the first to sing these songs, and makes her the original singer. And to have someone completely different like annette TRYING to sing them will not happen.
I really like this version of Sleeping Sun. It's more rock-sounding, but still retains that lullaby feel.
As for the old songs being "Tarja's", they are NOT hers. They belong to Nightwish as a whole, not solely to the lead singer. Just as Tarja doesn't "own" Sleeping Sun, Annette doesn't "own" Bye Bye Beautiful. If anyone own Nightwish songs, it would be the composer, who, in most cases, happens to be Tuomas.

Century Child is the album between Wishmaster and Once. It's really good but the lyrics are very depressing. You can listen to the songs on Youtube of course. Recommended!

This is the 2nd best version of Sleeping Sun I've ever heard. The best one was filmed once in Australia, when vocalist forgot to enter stage, so it was just instrumental... Gee it was beautiful!!! #-D And no, I'm not kidding!
Anette is awesome singer with amazing and different voice and with own style :-) I love this person....she sings awesome and I love her outfits....Anette isn´t as Tarja and this is great. This is MUCH better than the other live version I heard with Anette where she was constantly flat, and frankly, was pretty bad.
She changed the vocal line around a bit between 2007 and 2008 and it works so much better now.

But this isn't too bad! I give Anette's vocal performance 1000% improvement from a live version also on youtube that is a year older.

can we please stop blaming anette for "ruining nightwish's image" or whatever. It was and still is TUOMAS' band, not Tarja's.Tuomas chose anette and is happy with her. She did not ruin anything, Tuomas merely changed it. If you don't like it now then tough luck because Tuomas does and that's all that really matters.

She is just struggeling. Her voice is not as powerful as Tarja's. And she just rewrote the tune of the song because she cannot sing out a lot of notes. Ridiculous and miserable.
Anette should go back to sing in the Abba cover band where she came, her voice is enough for that but not for Nightwish

There's a HUGE difference between vocal STRENGTH and vocal RANGE. Tarja has a wider and higher vocal range than Anette, but they're about the same in vocal strength when they're each singing in their most comfortable vocal range. This is where Tuomas and the guys went wrong with choosing Anette...she has the vocal strength, just not as high a vocal range as most other Nightwish songs demand.

I don't think so. (Pop)-Anette can't sing -(especially old Tarja's songs), she is not pretty AS TARJA, and she wears clothes like Amy Lee from Evanescence. Anette CAN sing, she just sings differently, get used to it or stop posting on these videos. And I think what she's wearing is better than that creepy yellow dress with matching mic that Tarja had. You have to look at Nightwish with fresh eyes. Do you really think if she had tarja's voice people would like her better? no, they'd say she was copying her too much. She's trying to find a style for herself. And she's pretty good looking for a woman 6 years older than her former.

First of all, she doesn't have to wear yellow dress in Tarja's style, but she looks like Amy Lee from Evanescence, but Amy is 10 years younger!!!!! so Anette looks funny! Second of all why does she sing songs that were written and composed to Tarja's 4octaves. Does Anette has 0,5 octve? hahaha!!!! She hasn't to be beautiful, she has to be a good singer. And she is, for me. I don't care what kind of dress she wears. Nightwish wanted a completely different person, not a ''Tarja clone''. In the end, if you don't like her, watch old NW videos and Tarja videos; Tarja's gone,now there's Anette,the happiness is back, and i think is the most important thing for the band.

I saw Amy Lee About 2 years ago in very similar clothes, but don't forget about Amy age she is young enough to wear clothes designed for young girls, not for 40years old ladies!!!! Tarja looks perfect although she is over 30 she looks great. Anette is about 40?! if they like 40, they could take to the band - my mother - she is 50!!!! buahahahahahahaha! sorry Nightwish WAS metal band!!!! now they play rocky, sing-pop!!!!

well.. no one said these songs were tarja's. all that was said was thats these songs were MADE for tarja, meaning tarja was the first to sing these songs, and makes her the original singer. And to have someone completely different like annette TRYING to sing them will not happen.

I really like this version of Sleeping Sun. It's more rock-sounding, but still retains that lullaby feel.
As for the old songs being "Tarja's", they are NOT hers. They belong to Nightwish as a whole, not solely to the lead singer. Just as Tarja doesn't "own" Sleeping Sun, Annette doesn't "own" Bye Bye Beautiful. If anyone own Nightwish songs, it would be the composer, who, in most cases, happens to be Tuomas.

Some of the earlier songs Anette should better not sing. This is one of them! .... Tarja's voice is incomparable and very beautiful. I love "Sleeping sun" in the original version.

What do you mean she didn't write them? On the Nightwish albums, when you read the credits on the songs, Tarja's name is one them along with some of the bandmates' names.

Holopainen can't just make their typical opera sound for her like he did when they had Tarja. I know I've said these things already, but I say it once again. This is the 2nd best version of Sleeping Sun I've ever heard. The best one was filmed once in Australia, when vocalist forgot to enter stage, so it was just instrumental... Gee it was beautiful!!! #-D And no, I'm not kidding!
