@kwvaussie thermal imaging doesnt let the operator see through walls, its not an x-ray machine. It allows the user to see heat emitting objects or heat in general ' line of sight' meaning it cant see though walls.

AOS I seen a few times, they were reponding to an old man with a slug gun down my street who took some shots at kids who let his tyres down. They were pretty cool, I was watching out the window and they just appeared from nowhere from behind trees, bushes, lamposts etc..it looked like a cartoon. thjey didnt shoot the old man but he did get a mean bash and one of the cops gave the teens who let the tires down a few smacks round the ears serve him right little homie shit

Cool video! But most of the time, the AOS is seen carrying M4/M16 rifles (i'm not sure which one). But the environment in which the AOS operates (close combat), shouldn't they be using a different gun, something smaller, easier to handle, with less recoil and stuff. like the MP5 or the uzi? It's my opinion. coz many special forces use mp5 (with twin mags). except the french gign i guess.

AOS And STG Mainly use The Bushmaster M4, but are known to carrry MP5, Pistols, shotguns.

it wasnt 2 - 3 days to kill a man, it was 2 - 3 days to try to resolve the situation in the best way possible. It wasnt about 'killing' him at all.

no not really, the AOS' main objective is to Cordon, Contain and Appeal, not close combat,

The Special Tactics Group is specialized in close quarters combat, anti terror etc.

The AOS is more passive compared to the STG, which are trained to be more aggresive, more of a last resort option if you like.

Oh! I didn't know about the passive objectives of AOS. But still, that guy had killed an unarmed cop and injured 3 other men. The STG should have been called in the first place. 'Threat to kill' is another aspect. But, in this case, one person had already died. So, it's a different situation all-together.

What I'm trying to say is: This situation wasn't handled in the most efficient manner.

just to let you know, the STG was there. The situation WAS handled in the best possible manner given the police knew of his military background and the possibility the house may be bobby trapped. After the siege ended it turns out the house was booby trapped, so it was lucky they didnt end up with another dead officer or more.

You can't just bust into a building with guns blazing without enough intelligence to execute the job properly

I think it's you who needs to be realistic for a second. Compare this incident with other similar incidents happening around the world. Then, you'll realize that this matter could have been handled in a much better way. I'm not saying it's the fault of the Police. In my opinion, it's just that they are not used to such incidents.
