Dream Theater is apples and Pain of Salvation is oranges. They're different from each other, but both wonderful in comparison to most popular music, which is more along the lines of badger poop or something. That is all.

@Caleb9849 Don't get me wrong, Im not a DT hater myself - Awake is the album that got me into prog metal and I still hold it in high regard, and Petrucci is one of my all time favorite guitarists (I actually listen to LTE and and Petrucci side projects a lot more than DT), but PoS's music has so much more substance and variety and quite frankly is more truly progressive than DTs. Apart from a few albums a lot of DT is basically just "standard metal song with a big noodling section"

@Progurlife I didn't say Dream Theater wasn't beautiful. I never said they we're all about technique. Dream Theater is my favorite band. I think the SDoIT is their greatest musical achievement in my honest opinion.

Youtube "likes" will always be high for non-mainstream music because generally only the fans of the band will listen to the song
