  • I knew Joe from 1965. This is good.............but his best singing years were from the late 60's to the late 70's. The voice got a little more horsed from all the singing. I remember him being pulled off the stage at a dance in Portmarnock, Dublin one night by hundreds of beautiful ladies. There were almost 3000 people there that night. Greatest artist (in my book) to come out of Ireland ♪♫ ♥

I saw them many times at our local cabaret venue - The Garrick Club in Leigh Lancs UK in the early 70's.

  • Beautiful!

  • Hope people still remeber his music in 30 years time because he represents a famous irish man that lived a great life and i seen him in a concert three times im proud to say !!

  • Westmeath legend...........

  • Up Mullingar!

  • Hello everybody, i'm one of Joe Dolan'S fans,

please can someone write the wording of Make me an island?

  • all you have to do is go into joe dolan lyrics and you can get eny song you want ok my friend

  • Had the pleasure of meeting Joe on a number of occasions when my cousin Jimmy Walsh was his drummer. Met Nodger(roadie), his brother and all the band, what an experience to remeber and Joe was really a quiet kind of guy. Irish Showband/Music lost a lot of great people in the last year. The only good part is there are so many upcoming great artist including the sons of some of the great Irish Musicians ie.The High Kings. But still Joe you'll be forever missed.

  • Had a kiss on the cheek in kanturk from jo, what a legend!

  • I know the Nodger(Andy)and he often talks about being with Joe

  • Slán leat a Chara. Ní bheidh do léithead ann arís choiche go deo na ndeor. Go raibh céad míle maith agat a Joe ar shon an phléisiúr go léir a thug tú dúinn.

  • what a voice you were the best JOE

  • thats more like it

  • pukabosers you are a cheeky sod for sure!

  • sorry about the spelling

  • Love this song - was in England the summer this song was in the charts - was 15yrs old - brings back memories!

  • I've been doing research on some of the biggest hits in countries besides the United States.....I'll tell you one thing, I've listened to so many good songs, such as this one, and I cannot figure out why they never charted in the states......with the popularity of Engelbert and Tom Jones, I don't get why Joe Dolan wouldn't have made it in the States.....

  • Its true about the strange anomalies of music appreciation either? iether? side of the pond. On this side a singer like Joe Dolan is in the same category as..Roger Whitacker..Jake Thackray..Peter Skellern. But on your side the magic of Gordon Lightfoot...Im sorry Dude Im in.. "A(hugely pissed off with Americans)State of Mind. Of course Im aware of the fact...

  • Maybe he just doesn't have the looks or the stature. People value different things.

  • becouse americans ignore him after his concert in rusia

  • any chance to put on the let there be love album

  • hes just the best any body thinks hes not ill fight u

  • lol

  • Rip joe i have your tie from that concert in cork and i will always treasure it

  • God bless you Joe. RIP

    Thanks for sharing this video

  • I was so sad hearing of his death. Never have been to one of his concerts. I loved "Teresa" and "Make me an Island" since I was a boy.

I´ve been to his grave near Mullingar in March and I told him everything I wanted to tell him during his life. He was a great voice and I thank him for a lot of very emotional moments in my life.

  • rip joe

  • ur stupid thats not nyc to put up u daft fool

  • well u heard a load of crap then cause he died of brain heamoarage on boxing day just gone

  • U are an idiot and didnt know very much about the legend. He had 40 #1 hits around the world, he was #1 in the Russian charts in the early 70`s for God sake. You couldnt get any artist outside of the USSR into Russia at that time but he was so love the world over he got in. He spanned 4 generations of people in Ireland and over the world, the man was fantastic, what a voice...... Respect Joe !

  • @Seamus2389 And where the fuck did you hear that from arsehole? One of your idiot friends ..i guess. Sheeeeessshhhhhh. Some of you people shit me to tears. R.I.P. Joe.

  • joes new charity single is out 11th feb 2008 check hmv for details

  • Never heard of this Man, I watched a movie on HBO, and liked this song sung at the end of the movie , and found out the Artist, simply love his voice, What a range, More ans More has about six gear,s ,, fantastic. I have been listening to him all day now . Sorry he has passed.

  • I have been thinking,,, how can an Artist of this magnitude got by me without remembering him (old age !!} I listen to his Music every day!! now Any way,,, what a singer, not knowing a great deal about music, is he a Tenor, Soprano? Go Joe Dolan!!!! R.I.P.

  • I feel the same way.....why didn't Canada introduce him to listeners across this land? Instead, they play the same old content over & over & over. It's a global world & music should be played from around the world! Thank goodness an IRISHMAN introduced me to Joe Dolan. Can you imagine having been at one of his concerts?

  • What is the name of the movie that had Make Me An Island at the end?

  • I has forget this number now I hear it again and That's just lovely it was a big hit at that time, thanks for posting, greetings Geert.

  • A true performer

  • RIP Joe,you were a genuine human being.

  • i love this

  • Brings a tear to my eye

  • joe...no doubt they ll make you an island upstairs.........!

  • When he performs behind the Pearly Gates, what will the Angels throw onto the stage?

Maybe if they took his musical tuition, we may have less religious conflict down here...

    Martin Martin - Shaw

    South Australia

  • a wonderful singer he be sadly missed here in australia make me an island was a bing number one hit here

  • No show like a joe show..

  • RIP Joe
