  • still better than TDU2

  • dam this makes hard drivin look like GTA...

  • Need more RAM.

  • wow this game is worser than i thaught i anagend it not so digital, but i guess it is a 1987 game.ive got test drive:eve of dustruction.its just everythings so different like... theres no comantary, theres no other cars, but i could just go on and on and on but nah.buut ive got to say it is kinda cool!!

  • Remember when I used to play this game, I dreamt about driving fancy cars, drinking expensive wines and humping sexy women. Today I ride a bike, drink juice and masterbuate to womens under wear commercials. Still, its been a good life LOL :-)

  • It's incredible, I was about 8 when I first played this game, and I still can remember that music!! Thanks!

  • This game provided untold hours of fun gaming. Even though ti had limited amount of tracks and cars. You always tried for the best time possible and it was a great ride. I played it mostly on my then Atari ST and finished it eventually without any crashes and with good times. I continued playing it lol.

My favourite was the Porsche with second favourite the Corvette.

Great game, too bad most sequels turned out to be POS and not much to do with the gameplay of this one.

  • accolade presents

  • it just me or musics on C64 are better?!?

  • drift sounds are same as birdies :D

  • I went bonkers when my dad's friend dubbed us a disk of this for the old Amiga...

  • not the first test drive. c64 was before Amiga and dos.

  • c l'ancêtre de tdu2

  • At first, the theme sounded like "Let's Hear it for the Boy".

  • Oh man, this is cool, I had this on my Atari 520 ST. :D

And I had another racaing game the name of which I don't recall. IIRC, the graphics of that game were better (which is hard to imagine, right?).

  • I remember playing that game at my cousin's home, when I drove in the gas station they always said "You drive like my grandmother" ;-D

  • cars with no sides. i was amazed as a kid when first started seeing driving games where the cars had sides.

  • Do you have this version working on a PC now friend?

  • I played the game uncountable times as a child and that intro sound instantly brings back memories. Just wonderful!

And I'm pretty sure that Test Drive is one of the reasons, I'm sitting here over 20 years later and am impatiently waiting for my ordered Porsche... :D

Thanks Accolade for the great ride!! :)

  • @skyphab Yeah. Ceartanly brings a feeling of nostalgia :)

  • @skyphab

Your xbox live points will come through soon and you can get your Porsche, don't worry.

  • @skyphab same here!

  • (Sigh).....Allocade..... the same company who brought you the cult classic, Ballz 3D. (murmur) (murmur)

  • WOW DIS GAME SUCKZ HAAAAAAAAARD

  • @deadmau5suckz Go back to your cheap plastic toy cars, kid.

  • WOW DIS GAME SUCKZ

  • I CANT BELIEVE THIS IS THE FIRST TEST DRIVE EVER

  • OMG, i soooooooooo loved this game, thanks for posting

  • I had this for my 500. Did you know you could "copy" the cars from the game and put them in the paint program? I used to stick them on pictures of mountains!

  • che ricordi :)

  • A Game with Character. I used to play it until late 90s... Nothing compared with modern Racers but its still Fun.

  • @TFKiphone Oh shut up. This is by far the superior game.

  • Jerky Framerate, you maybe need to drop the resolution down and switch antialiasing off ;-)

  • @nibblitz I can't believe he maxxed out his settings lol

  • @TFKiphone Shut up.

  • thoses graphic suck like shit but looks like a fun game too remember

  • @XXXBLACKOPSXX Are you retarded? We're talking about a game from _1987_ and you're complaining about the graphics.

  • @SvenneTheBlockhead i wazzentr tallking to u u fucking dumbass!!!!

  • @XXXBLACKOPSXX Did I say you was? I was commenting on your massive outburst of stupidity. Also learn english for fucks sake.

  • It more looks like Commodore version. I remember I couldn't go further past the gas station cause I didn't have a disk drive in my C64 and the game which was loaded from a tape recorder lasted only about 2-5 minutes. LOL Goog old C64.

  • Better then grand turismo that's for sure :D

  • did at any point in this game the graphic ever change from driving round a moutain

  • Years before Test Drive Ultimited 2 :D

  • does this game support the g25? lololol

  • thx man-i played it 1000 years ago-2500 hours!!!2 play games like this u need some more skill like today.... ;-)

  • wow the sound effects give me a fucking headache and the graphics make me wanna puke, its disgusting

  • if you want to skip the black screen, 0:24

  • better graphics than pc version

  • looks like the picture I made in Paint the other day....

  • though not the first 3D driving game, (which this isnt actually 3d) Test Drive is the first, First person Driving game with a serious intent behind it. Unlike other above view or parallax scrolling arcade racers of its day Test Drive is actually the longest running Racing title period. It could be consider the great great grandfather of modern day Test Drive unlimited 2. not to mention was the inspiration for later Road and Track Presents: The Need For Speed. which in itself spawned GT5

  • @xevious2501 Well said! This is really the genesis of all racing games we enjoy today.

  • I remember finding a glitch that if you pressed to joystick button while cornering, the car wouldn't skid out. Thx for the vid. I took me back to "the good old days" :-)

  • Was für eine witzige Idee der Entwickler damals, das beim Überdrehen des Motors die Frontscheibe kaputt geht*lol*

  • This seems pretty dull. I guess it wasn't in 1987?

  • The car engine sounds are better than those used in GTA 5

  • get real technology that old !!! sucksss!!! i wounldent buy crap like that !! hell!!! no!!!

  • are you actually moving OH YEA THATS RITE GAMING PEOPLE WERE RETRARDS BACK THEN LOL

  • are you actually moving OH YEA THATS RITE GAMING PEOPLE WERE RETRARDS BACK THEN LOL

  • daaamn! that was my first racing game ever :D I ran it on Amiga 600, great memories... BTW - it's a shame that '87 test drive has cockpit view and GT5's standard cars dont :/

  • what the hell is amiga i mean come on !!! are you all that old!! and senile!!?????

  • GOD ITS TERRIBLE IT SUCKS WORST THAN ANYTHING WAKE UP TO REALITY WHAT THE HELL IS THAT 1 BIT HAHAHAHAHAHHAA GET REAL!! SLOWWW LIKE A NAVAJO!!! HAAHAHHAHA LMAO ..

  • oh man.. what a great video this is.. a buddy of mine had an Amiga and we used to go to his house to play this for hours and hours (along with Earl Weaver Baseball).

The graphics and sound were so good for its time.

  • Oh my lord, i wasted some time of my youth with that game.

  • Ha ha ha i played this to death back then, but it was brilliant at the time..Good Old Days

  • @MattEricV

TEST. DRIVE. It has nothing to do with whether or not you "know this amiga stuff".

  • @MattEricV

Why are you asking when the title's right there above the video?

  • ahah alooks like they made TD on microsoft paint haha xD

  • yea its a joke

  • The music that starts out at 1:26 sounds like the song "Gotta Get Away" by The OFFSPRING. Great Game and great Video skoh03!

  • 2:50 revs so hard he crashes through TIME

  • This Test Drive is soo diffrent from PC version...

Nice sounds, 256 colors (PC version was 16 colors I was stuck to 4 colors), diffrent roads with three lanes, diffrent traffic..

  • @mibars

Actually, this game is in 16 colors, and the Amiga couldn't do 256 colors anyway. (Well, you could render single colors as gradients and get 256 colors that way, but that's different.)

    I apologize for my pedantry.

  • @Stopmotionist As you say the Amiga had 16 colors, but that's in Hi-Res Mode. In Low-Res Mode it was possible to display up to 4096 colors at a time!

  • @aceyage

You completely missed his point, and he was right about the color limit. The game IS in 16 colors, because it's a lazy port of the ST version (as were most other Amiga games, sadly), and the Amiga can only display its full 4096-color palette for still images. Moving graphics are limited to 32 colors (or 64 in EHB mode), not counting copper gradients.

However you look at it, though, it's a pretty awful-looking game to begin with.

  • @StellarJetman You are completely right.

  • @StellarJetman Maybe I am wrong but I don't think this game originates from the Atari ST. Seeing both version I always had the impression that this game is opitimized for the Amiga and the ST has a slighly reduced port if.

  • @1xWertzui

It's the other way around. Like Gods, it's ported from the ST and slightly enhanced.

  • Comment removed

  • lol very cool video, to me it seems very hard to drive like that, is it?

  • cette musique d'intro est tout simplement MYTHIQUE !! énorme souvenir ...

  • @masterpandaassassin I agree, way better then test drive unlimited 2!

  • Should have chosen the Lamborghini!!

  • Ferrari Testarossa was my favorite car in this game! 1988 must it have been, time goes.. :)

  • those 5 1980s Supercars Are Awesome.

I have managed to Print all of 5 Cars in Power point.

  • Pass any low flying planes back there?

  • what a game!!!I never understood if the top scores were real or just made up...Guess they were definitely not up to date in any way.

  • my 1st game i played oh those were the days of 3fps lol

  • jesus christ ... this time I was still playing Enduro for Atari 2600... good old times....

  • why u just dont play on pc with 4890 ati graphics card or better u must have real under minuim spc video card.

  • nice graphic

  • The sound between 3:05 and 4:25 is similiar to emitted by heavier diesel vehicles, like that time produced city bus Mercedes-Benz O405. The technology was not as primitive in comparison with the hardware possibilities, now it couldn't be naturally sold.

Humorous steering wheel's centre with the abbreviation suggesting Turbo Diesel, not the game's title. ;-)

  • Yesssssss!!!

Know it like it was yesterday!!

    Thanks!

  • Jakby nagle cofnął się czas. Niezapomniane przeżycia :)

  • @mateusio Nie tylko tobie ;). Taak, to były lata... ja z kolegami praktycznie zawsze się rozbijaliśmy - moim zdaniem te ciężarówki z naprzeciwka zbyt szybko nadjeżdżały xD.

  • PLEASE !!! GIVE ME A LInK FOR DOWNLOAD THIS GAME , I NEVER PLAY tHE " AMIGA VERSION " , I LIKE IT :/ , GIVE ME A URL OR A LINK PLEASE ! :D

  • there was no gas station but ok

  • amazing sense of speed lol is that 2 fps

  • Haha ... "Test Drive was cracked by ..."

  • @superviewer Well how else is he going to find a copy today. ;P

  • This came with my Amiga 500 and was the only game I had for two whole months. Let's just say I knew those five tracks very well. I'm sure I could remember them even today! :-)

  • This, along with Defender of the Crown, were two of the first games I ever played on an Amiga. What memories.

  • This game was incredible then. Intro was kick-ass. Played it many, many hours on my Atari 520ST. Epic game together with stunt car racer, player manager, oil imperium, pirates. F1 grand prix.

    My childhood....gone

  • @Johannes012

I played many hours of this game on my nanas 1040st and she still has that old thing. one day i should bust it out and see if it still works. Pretty fair graphic for back in its time.

  • looks too close to the c 64 version dosent utilise the amiga at all

  • omg this is the reason why i let my mom buy an amiga 500 lol

    after see that remember again

    good old 80th´s

  • PC version was horrible.. it could only produce BEEPs.. oh man I hated all the PC-XT-AT shit... as for the Test Drive C-64 version has the best sound!!! Amiga's low res sampling is awfull so as the PC's beeping...

  • I loved this game. had it on pc in 1990.

  • Amazing game!!! Please will someone post more!!!

  • That intro tune has the greatest riff ever.

  • better than forza 3

  • I HAD THIS!!! LOL.. So many memories..

  • It is like quite normal that if you blow your engine the front panel bursts ;-)

  • That's a blast from the past. Thanks for posting this. I loved this game, the music for the car selection and pit stops have been burned into my memory for 20yrs... wicked.

Anyone remember the first level you didn't have to steer... just hammer it and go dead straight; you wouldn't crash. Nice trick on the programmers part.

  • geez, this is a flashback to my youth. But for some reason I remember the graphics being much better than that!!! hahaha. I was 11 years old so I guess it seemed better than anything we had at the time. the Amiga had some amazing games.

  • ah the memories. I had this game when it first came out! I still get the music stuck in my head lol

  • for what it was, this music really kicked ass!

  • I remember the amigas in the showrooms on tottenham court road had this on demo... how I used to drool... didnt get an amiga until 92 though...

  • ah the memories. the theme song was the sh*t. the voice sounds like the computer in "War Games"
