eaiser if you just use the dolly and zoom in when you re editing ;D eaiser to get it steddy then ;P need a good camera thoug, so your not ruin the quality^^
no, its actually camera-subject distance that matters. try take two pics, one close and one far away, but with the same focal length. then crop the far away one in post production so the subject is same size. u get the same effect. actually u can already tell n the last second of ur vid, the vertigo effect stopped when u stopped moving back even though u continued to zoom in and then when you zoomed out.
Changing the focal lenght (and so the viewing angle) has exactly the same effect as zooming in an editing program: you get closer to the object, but the perspetctive doesn't change.
lol its so cool, im gonna try do it for my project in college, hope i do it right, have you seen indy mogul videos? he shows you how to build your own dolly track! and make up FX as well ^.^
Well actually it was first used in the film 'Vertigo' and it is wrongly named 'The Hitchcock effect' because Alfred Hitchcock wasn't actually the person who created the effect; it was one of his uncredited camera men from Germany.
yeah, in fact, the gl-2 is, i think, the best SD-cam for 2000 € or $. but nowadays i'd probably search for a new panasonic dvx 100, should be quite "cheap", too, coparated to earlier (DV)-times ^^
WILL YOU PLEASE SUCK MY DICK AND CALL ME MARY, CUS THAT WAS FUCKING SHIT!!!!

@torsvik94
no ^^
it's an "in cam" effect, that means it depends on the focal length of the lense.
If u don't change it during the shot, u wont be able to get the vertigo ish feeling ^^

@generiok cropping and changing the focal length are pretty much the same thing. the important thing is to keep the shot in focus.

You're wrong, torsvik94 is right, sorry.
The perspective only changes by dollying.

ynzboy 2 years ago

the idea is to mantain the focal point on the subjet by zooming in.

yeaah
we used a cabriolet to make this
generiok 2 years ago
That's random, worked pretty well.
krayzgerman 2 years ago
dolly out what that means?
danteisbrutal 2 years ago
It's a term referring to the camera being placed on a dolly which would have wheels so that the camera can move away from what it is capturing.
krayzgerman 2 years ago
On a dolly you pull it backward so the person will seem to get smaller, but at the same time you zoom in on that person.

Would've been better if your subject was closer to the camera, but all in all good work!! This is a cool effect to shoot.
