Kinda a mix of mathcore/progressive with rapping. I think you have to rap a certain way to make it work for metal. I'll get a lot of hate for saying this, but a lot of hardcore and metal bands already use spoken verses, even since the beginning, only combined with shouts or growls. Otherwise, they aren't the same as using your vocal s in a melodic way.

Candiria played The Hanover House in Meriden CT in the 90's and I got to meet and become friends for a time with Chris the original gtr player, and I was lucky enough to not only book the shows but my band got to open for them..Loved these guys, I didn't know Chris was gone from the band until he was gone from this world. Wish I would have kept in touch, pest in peace Chris.

Yes, the bands you speak of are great bands but if you were classify Candiria in any way, I'd say there more experimental with metal, harcore, hip-hop and jazz influences to name just a few genres. And they pull it off in a way that makes them very unique in world of cookie cutter and fly by night bands and to top it off they pull it off very well. Without Water was the first song I ever heard from Candiria and I've been hooked ever since. To say they suck is just plain ignorance on your part.

Jazzcore? Far from that... the 'What doesnt kill you' album has no jazz or hardcore roots whatsoever. Their older stuff may contain some jazz ideas such as complex structure arrangements, but no hardcore can be heard in any of their songs. Just because its heavy, it doesnt mean you can put the ending 'core', like so many people do now a days.
