  • Hey, thanks for the video. Nice to see the transport planners putting in a beltway to serve the outer suburbs. Do you know if anything is happening for the other sections?

  • @LanceInAustralia tx toll 99 is 100

% funded . its just a matter of time for constructing it .

  • @ScrewdUPClickV2 they are constructing it this YEAR!!! so beast!!

  • The last two miles of the Westpark Tollway ending in the Galleria district is absolutely gorgeous and characteristic of a world-class city in the 21st century. LOL at those purple exit signs.

  • Been awhile since I've seen this video, Click. I remember those purple BPSs (Big Purple Signs). :-)

  • WOW!!!...Purple signs!!!, every day I learn something new - TEJAS!!! , always surprises..

(5:35) That interchange was very nice!

    Really enjoyed the ride!

  • @CAMINOANDALUZ hctra likes to do thing different .. that is the beauty of it

  • PoUNDZ!

  • Tx-99 is awesome. wow the overhead signs are purple. I`m just wondering. thanks..

  • finally, you save money of not repairing you car because of the bad pavement quality ^^ ... even if you pay 4$ each time !

  • Blue overhead signs. Wow, I'm trippin' :-)

  • @damonhynes lol wat did you think of the purple sign's .. instead of normal green ? haha

  • @ScrewdUPClickV2 Haw, made my eyes asplode is all it did, lol.

  • interresting ! ... whats the price in this toll ?

  • @Franks4488 with a ez-tag its to ride the entire tollway is about 4$ .. if you exit you pay a additional 50cents .. from tx-99 to post oak is about 22 miles . so its not that bad .. its a constant set toll .. unlike the katy freeway , it flux's between high traffic times , when i leave the houston area heading west ,, this is my road , well worth it

  • nice

  • Nice job! I just uploaded a 720p test video with my new camera to youtube, check it out!

  • Westpark is a failure in engineering. It's way to small not properly made and designed either. Way too small for a houston tollway. No proper feeder road either.

  • @refresh967 well it was designed for limited access .that was the whole point . hctra did not want this freeway carrying alot of traffic , that is the reason there is the ez-tag only limitation . there is plenty of row with fm-1093 and westpark drive to add additional lanes in the future .. when it was build alot of people in west houston were really pissed , they didnt want a 8 lane freeway in there back yards ..

  • @ScrewdUPClickV2 oh than its a very nice tollway then.

  • @refresh967 it has flaws .. like u said .. not enough lanes .. ect . but its one of houstons finest toll roads in my opinion

  • @refresh967 another reason that its a american roadway icon .. is the engineering , that was formed between the ederpasses of us-59 and i-610 , creating im sure of americas only level 6 interchange at i-610

  • This is the way I drive from my house to Md anderson cancer center it awesome when its not oh 730 am to about 900 am =) It will always be better than the I-10 / 59 way

  • thanks for commenting ..west houston is a nightmare . i live on the southside southloop on the gulf freeway , glad to have you abord

  • grand parkway will use Tx-tag?? because i never saw that sign that says 99 tx toll. only on the tx tags in austin.

  • All toll roads in the state now accept TX-TAG , ez-tag,toll tag , are basically the same thing and serve the same purpose . just they are older city version of the new statewide tx-tag

  • im pretty sure eventually they will

  • i love it wonderful video please can u do one from richmond to beltway 8

  • working on a few other projects as we speak but ill take care of that soon

  • ive never rode the managed lanes .. i plan on making a video of it tho next time im out in that area tho , which now is about every weekend .. it will show the people exactly how massive the freeway actually is .. from west loop to outside katy texas

  • the only toll road in houston that you need a tag or transponder for is the westpark . all other toll roads offer cash lanes

  • Love the purple signs and the interchanges at US-59 & I-610.

Maybe it's me but that road had the look and feel of a Japanese Expressway.

    Excellent Work!

  • thanks .. i figured most would enjoy the dug sections of freeway ,, its actually a rush driving thru tho lol , its kinda neat expecially at night lol

  • @Freewayjim

Never expected purple would be so readible.

But why don't they use blue all the way ig they're planning to test another color.

Blue was tested and proven to be be the best sign-color.

  • its a good question ..

  • figured out why they use purple sign's on this freeway today .. its actually a color code

complex to explain fully but in short solid purple means rfid only , electronic only .. ez-tag

solid green with a top yellow banner means no cash , ex-tag only ..

solid green with purple top banner means cash and ex-tag

  • Interesting, makes sense too, once you know the rules :)

  • @Freewayjim its a code just what scrwd said but also houston is a very international city.

  • I love Texas' freeway network. It's just big for the hell of it.

  • lol .. intresting way of lookin at it .. thx

  • I try to take the most interesting way of looking at something. :-D (Hope that sentence made sense, lol.)

  • ya i kno .. txdot has a way of ya lol .. your really gonna laugh when you see the pruple sign's on all the other toll roads in the houston area .

  • Purple signs, that's interesting...

  • lol ya . thx for watching

  • Yeah, the first time I've seen signs that color.

  • This is a pretty interesting, 4 lane freeway (or tollway). I would've driven it, had I picked up a TX Toll Tag.

  • this road is perhaps the greatest in design from the hctra/txdot in the metro area . this freeway was built to relieve traffic on i-10 to katy texas and from i-610 westloop due to the galleria area .. it has lived to its expectations but due to the construction on the new katy freeway traffic has eased alot .
