Of course he was the best. The late 80s and early 90s really was hockey golden age. Gretzky, Yzerman, Lemiuex at there best ... The likes of which we will never see again. I'm all tears ...
Gretzky truly is one of the holy grails of hockey. Unless you are from Edmonton and grew up during his era, it's hard to understand what he meant to Oilers' fans, but for the people who watched him, he transcended hockey, probably more so than any player in NHL history except Maurice Richard. I'm sure Boston fans would say the same about Bobby Orr, another of the sport's true holy grails.
This made me cry. I dont fucking care who says im a pussy Grezky was the best freaking guy ever too play. I watched him when i was young to when he retired.
The song you hear in the background is called "The memories will last forever". It is sung by Edmonton native Tim Feehan. It was writtin' just for Wayne when the Edmonton Oilers honored him with the unveiling of his bronze statue on Aug, 27th1989. The song is not available on any cd, But you can hear it on the "Ultimate Gretzky" DVD set, In the 1989 honoring. What a GREAT song. This 1999 segment of the DVD got chopped to hell. I was very disappointed,I wanted to see it all. Tim has about 7 cd's
I love Wayne Gretzky!
