To get the "acoustic" sound, use a boundary mic or a condenser about 8 feet away. Onboard camera microphones aren't "acoustic", they're "mud" and "clip"

I think the point was to show the set and it's sound. Playing the same thing gives a decent understanding of what the kit sounds like. Also, That has to be a record for being the biggest kit with only 2 toms. It's the same size as bozzio's but with a fraction of separate pieces.
