  • Please cut education.

  • GOP has a history of ruining the education. "No Child Left Behind," anyone?

  • Comment removed

  • This sucks man.

I can barely afford to go to college in Pennsylvania as it is.

Am I being forced to drop out?!

  • @sonicmandx12 How about you just pull out a loan, work, or find a cheaper local college. I did, and now I am getting paid to go to graduate school to earn an advance degree. You can't expect to have everything handed to you.

  • @777danzig Finding a job in the area I live in is not as easy as you may think.

And when I DO get a job, it barely has hours.

I've never had anything handed to me. Ever.

I fought to get the money I barely get to pay college.

    Job, loans, grants included.

It's not like I'm some lazy bastard complaining about how little I am doing to get money.

    It sucks.

    But I see your point.

There ARE people out there who shouldn't be complaining.

  • It's not just education... watch out for child labor laws too. Maine is trying to loosen child labor laws in their state... so not only would we have more and more uneducated Americans, they would be working at a younger and younger age. Keep your eyes on Maine. Progressives need to step up.

  • @donnyforte2 Progressives like a federal minimum wage because they feel that people should get paid a certain amount no matter their experience, age, education etc. So a person can have a chance to make a living. Well, allowing children of poor families to work increases the ability for those families to put food on the table or pay bills. Help the needy, that is what progressives want.

  • @777danzig At this point, it's far beyond helping the needy and controlling corporate America.

  • @donnyforte2 *and more about

  • These cuts in funding will be devastating to all who receive the pell grant. In order to bring more awareness to this issue I would love to hear some stories as to how the pell grant has helped individuals and what it means to you. If you wouldn't mind emailing me your stories they will hopefully stop these cuts from happening! They will be used in an effort by Campus Progress.

  • .LEAN FOXWARD....it pained me to whatch an hour of mr ed but hre it is...on the forth day of libyan conflict mr ed spent the first 35 minutes bashing republicans then 5 minutes on libya and the total rest of the show reporting on the reporters on fox news. whats the point just watch fox news. its like comeing over to my house to watch me watch tv.

  • The only thing we should cutting from school is the budget for those huge plasma tv's. What ever happened to a good old fashion cheap blackboard? You can teach just as good without a huge TV. Some schools need to have funds cut because they spend their money on stupid shit

  • I think they want us to be dumbed down. I wrote a song about what's going on in PA

I wrote a song about it. It is on my page

  • I think they want us to be dumbed down. I wrote a song about what's going on in PA

  • @407buddy U CAN NOT ANYWAY POSSIBLE BE A BIGGER DOLT THAN U R, BITCH

  • @407buddy LISTEN CUNT THE ONLY THING CLUELESS HERE IS U BITCH, AND YOUR BALLESS LIBERAL BAG, PUNKASS FUCK

  • @AREAL0YINZER How did you become so smart? I need to know the secret! TELL ME!

  • @Curlin12 GENITICS

  • 5 people hate education

  • @407buddy DEPENDENCY, YOU ARE REALLY FUCKED UP MAN, AS MOST LIBERALS ARE

  • thanks roy

  • @407buddy JUST BY A GUN AND BLOW OUT WHAT LITTLE FUCKING BRAINS U DO HAVE, MORON FUCK

  • @407buddy IDIOT

  • @AREAL0YINZER Does anyone see what is wrong with Area's statement here? hahahaha

  • NEXT TO OUR GOVERMENT, EDUCATION IS THE MOST CORRUPT ORGANIZATION IN THIS COUNTRY. I KNOW PEOPLE WHO GET SO MUCH FROM THEIR PELL GRANTS THAT THEY HIRE HOUSE CLEANERS TO CLEAN THEIR HOUSES WEEKLY. ALSO KNOW PEOPLE WHO GET PELL GRANTS ,GO TO CLASS FOR TWO WEEKS THEN NEVER SHOW UP AGAIN, KEEPING THE $15,000 PELL GRANT THEY HAVE. BAMA IS A BULLSHIT LIAR, AS ARE ALL THE COMMUNIST LEFT

  • @AREAL0YINZER TROLL...neo-conservative corporation owners choreograph a huge play to make people think that their talking points represent the rest of America. its not patriotic to fuck millions of people over so that you can take home an extra buck...so realize that while leftists might lie unknowingly....the right LIES TO PROTECT THEIR AGENDAs...

  • @AREAL0YINZER Yes there are always going to be people who abuse the system, but there are also people who use the grants for good and end up getting a great education that leads to a great job and happy tax payers.

  • @ooMONKEYoo YES, BUT 30% GET AN EDUCATION 70% TAKE THE FUCKING MONEY AND RUN, AND THAT IS ACCURATE, SO KISS MY TAX PAYING ASS

  • @AREAL0YINZER I can't kiss your ass - bullshit statistics are flying out of it.

  • @ooMONKEYoo NO BULLSHIT ABOUT THE NUMBER IDIOT BITCH, LIVE WITH IT, U R A FUCKING MORON, POINT TO YOUR ELBOW, NOW YOUR ASSHOLE, LOSER

  • @AREAL0YINZER Troll, leave this site you douche. Your siting no statistics or facts. You are just throwing typical uneducated insults.

  • BULLSHIT, 3%

  • Meanwhile the oil subsidies don't get cut

  • Nice to see Obama taking a strong stance. I wonder how soon he'll cave, though.

  • Right around half of the country is republican. To insult half the American people based on the actions of politicians is no more helpful than the republicans insulting the liberals. Why not discuss solutions instead of just slandering?....unless you have nothing but hate to spread.

  • @JephRants Half the country is not republican. When americams are polled about issues by issue, about 70% of them are progressives.

  • @ooMONKEYoo That may or may not be true. How they vote is what I was speaking of.

  • @JephRants I know what you meant. I was just commenting that most of the people voting republican are voting against what they really want.

  • @ooMONKEYoo as do most dems when it comes to fiscal responsibility, small business growth, innovation, and self reliance.

My want is for them and them to become US or U.S. again.

  • @JephRants You need to learn how to write a sentence. I have no idea what the fuck you're trying to say.

  • @JephRants I am saying that blaming one group of people (or ones that claim a group) is not going to fix anything. Breaking down the problems and addressing them directly is the only solution.

  • No pain to the workers. Put the pain on the rich, particularily Wall Street and those companies that send American jobs elsewhere. Down with NAFTA!!!

  • Congratulations America, you sure taught President Obama and those Democrats a lesson. Now you and your kids get crappier lessons in school, if you still have a school to go to.

  • third world countries have better education standards than the US

  • "they don't an educated public capable of critical thinking, what they want is OBEDIENT WORKERS. OBEDIENT WORKERS."

    -George Carlin

  • @jumar1281 they should legalize pot too then.

  • Cenk, stop using that whiny voice. I cant even watch his videos anymore because its so annoying.

  • @TW0man4RMY I totally agree. He doesn't use that voice when he is on TYT. I wish he would be himself more when we goes on MSNBC.

  • An educated middle class is the biggest threat to the elites.....hence, massive education cuts.

Knowlegde is power and the elites want all of it.

  • you filthy liberal bastard parasite SCUM better stfu!

  • Gov't funding education is wrong on every level. It should be completely private.

Also it's a bunch of BS that universities will raise fees by 33%n if FEWER people are coming in.

No no, with fewer people they will CUT fees, so more people can attend.

  • @romanmir01 No one is going to get into university if they can't even get passed high school. Not sure if you know or not, but you have to take a standardized test to even get into one. It's called the SAT, or the ACT in my case. By having public schools, you allow opportunity for those who are not wealthy enough for private schools to have at least some sort of education. But even then, without help, college would be nothing but a dream due to financial reasons.

  • @Vanguard009 Yet most people who actually wanted an education prior to gov't starting with loans, they got the education. They paid out of pocket for it because gov't loans were not available. The important thing was that they were able to do so because gov't loans were not available and universities kept costs low.

Anytime there is public money in something, prices rise. As to schools - how are they federal issue? They are a local issue.

  • @romanmir01

You have a point, people were able to do it without govt. support, but back then college was not needed to get a good wage now everybody needs it also there is barley any jobs to go around, that means people are having a hard time to get the money (unless they have rich parents). ALSO alot of people get in through grants, but how can you get grants when they cut education for high school where if you do not get a 25-32 on the ACT you have zero to no chance to get a grant

  • @lildread1 BARLEY AND JOBS, HAHAHA, LOOKS LIKE U NEED SOME EDUCATION, IDIOT

  • Decreasing the level and quality of education to a population is the best way to keep them controlled and maintain a status quo.

  • It's called the American Dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it.

  • GOP= Gay Old Poo

  • @Introspective91 Immature but true. :)

  • Cenk, As you remember from Turkiye the keys to education are PARENTS, not more money. I taught Chemistry at Kadikoy Maarif, and every Parents Day, all 45 of those moms and dads were there after taking off work and asking, e.g., "How is Ahmet doing in your class? Not so good? OK, I'll handle it." Here, until the parents start discipling their kids you can spend 50,00 per student and education will not improve. The atmosphere in the classroom is just mf, mf

    all day. roy rood, tampa

  • @royerood You're 100% correct, but it's hard when parents are forced to get 3 jobs just to keep a roof over their head and food on the table -- that's if they're lucky.

  • Hopefully, when the next election cycle comes, these Republican governors will be voted out because of their unpopular cuts to education and attacks on unions. It may not happen, but at least Walker is out. There's no saving his next term from the looks of it and then someone can reestablish collective bargaining for public unions.

  • education cuts = more stupid people = more republican voters. It's pretty obvious...

  • @christopherawesome You totally nailed it. Totally, totally, totally. Nailed. it.

  • @christopherawesome

What makes you assume that republican voters are less educated than you? I am conservative and I'm an engineering student with a high gpa in a public university. I can assure you I am smarter than your ignorant liberal punk ass.

  • @christopherawesome SO TRUE... couldn't have said it better myself. It's sad that to get an education in America, you have to pretty much be rich. I'm part of that group right now that's trying to get an education and the idea of cutting that funding is a VERY bad idea, given that the cost of education is greater than that of what most people make within 2 years.

  • @ERAUPRCWA You don't have to be rich to get an education. I am not rich and I am going to graduate here shortly with two degrees in science, and next fall I am going to start graduate school and get paid for it. I know some people have it better than others, but it can be done. I now a girl who's family is poor, at 18 she had a kid, but after 3 years of factory and walmart work she is attending school part time and is slowly getting an education. It takes work.

  • @christopherawesome I go to a private school and i learn fine and we are poor a shit. No Gymnasium, No computers, No money, Ive been to private schools were teachers were paid little over minimum wage. In some cases private schools pay employees less under the table. Illegal immigrants make more money. My school has 3 teachers, elementary middle and high. I learn better here than public school. The teachers care about education here. Funny how poorer schools do better

  • Bill and Melinda Gates are Monsanto supporters. One more example of why you don't want to give so much money to so few assholes, I mean people.

  • and what the fuck is so wrong with trades?

  • Wait, I thought there were 7 states that don't have to balance their budgets. Did I get that wrong?

  • Cenk's whiny tone is back. It's quite annoying.

  • Obama cut pell grants. What the fuck is he talking about?

  • American universities are already freaking expensive. Can't imagine this.

  • I thought Vermont could have an unbalanced budget. Thats what Gates said

  • TAX THE UNIONS!

    YEAH!

  • but the white house wants to pour more money into schools with fresh vegetables and fruits. Cut homeland security it's useless

  • Republicunts rely on the uneducated and the ignorant to get elected. Fact is, less and less college graduates vote republican every year. They know that people capable of critical thought don't vote against their own interests. So they want to keep as many people out of college and under educated as possible.

  • What makes me sad is the republicans who are not the rich but the regular folk, who support republicans just for the heck or it, or to spite Democrats or Liberals. Their egos have blinded them to the facts, truth, and the big picture. Instead they stick to their righteous indignation, perhaps to fit in with their families, friends, and community.

Whether you're a republican or a democrat is irrelvent. What's important are the rights of the people, the future of the whole country and its childrn

  • Bill & Melinda Gates are doing wonders for education???? Oh jeez, Cenk you need to do some research. They are part of the problem.

  • 3% don't favour cuts in education : +/- 3% border

  • More uneducated people means more votes for republicans.

  • @idontfkinknow1234

What makes you assume that republican voters are less educated than you? I am conservative and I'm an engineering student with a high gpa in a public university. I can assure you I am smarter than your ignorant liberal punk ass.

  • @pennjersey83 So studying engineering means you understand political science, economics, public policy? That's a non-starter if I ever heard it.

  • america is fucked

  • @frictionRx9

lol! You really are a funny one :)

  • @frictionRx9

Keep up your ever-vigilant quest to troll the TYT. Never rest, never back down! Never admit when you're full of shit! :D

  • Cuts to Education = More Republicans.

    Just saying.

  • Who needs education when you have the most nukes in the world.

  • Dem tree per-cent be smartful.

  • Rendell had a shit ton of beans for lunch again.

  • the rich only care about getting richer and having a cheap labor force to provide for them.

have fun driving over bridges built by people with IQ's under 90...

  • New GOP motto; "Building a third world nation one step at a time"

  • Pen State is literally going to have to kick students out next year to stay open.

  • Why do they keep attacking education you ask? Because the more educated somebody is, the more liberal they vote. Keep the population stupid and they will vote repug in a heartbeat.

  • @pbmdh OMG, You're fucking right! I'm quoting!!!

  • lolz paying for something yourself=a concept deadbeat liberals just can't comprehend

    EPIC FAIL!

  • Being a student in PA, that REALLY pisses me off.

  • The GOP loves to cut education because they are planning for the future. The most dangerous thing for them is to have an educated population that is politically motivated, because an educated population can see through their bullshit!

THUMBS UP THAT EVERYBODY CAN SEE

  • If your money isn't going to the schools from your house and state tax. I suppose that means you don't have to pay for it since it isn't going to the use it's suppose to.

  • When Palin becomes POTUS, she will make cuts to everything including education for our public education is nothing but a leftist liberal socialist communist front teaching our kids COMMUNIST SOCIALIST PROPAGANDA! President Palin will fully expose the liberal agenda of all of our public education from K to PhD and have it completely privatized and conservatized! The Palination will educate all people in the virtues of Palinist Christian Conservatism!

  • Everyday I watch TYT and hate the republicans more and more and more

  • once young people start voting the reps will start represent us. Right now they pander to old people because they are the ones who vote.

  • I'm quitting college, now....

  • I keep harping on this theme... but you Americans will have to string up these re-thugs and do away with them a la mussolini.

  • Only 3% of the public wish to cut education. It is clear this is no longer a democracy, the people have no political power. America is ruled by the wealthy and their representatives. There's a word for that: plutocracy.

We must take our country back. DEMAND CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM

  • An educated US society makes it harder to justify overseas outsourcing.

  • there's no such thing as a conservative education

  • ::sighs:: cut funds to education? REALLY? do we really need more hicks in this country? NO...

  • @0311forever The GOP does. How do you think they get elected?

  • It's due things like this that America needs to realise it is no longer the West's flagship. Yes, it is still the most powerful economically & militarily, but in terms of quality of life, you are too soically backward and the only immigrants you will get will be from the 3rd world.

  • they cut in Education because Republicans can go and burn books in the middle of the street like China and Russia did during their revolutions. Republicans have found a more "light" method: CUT FUNDING. The other day I saw on MSNBC a Republican saying they wanted to interfere with votes from students because they are Liberal. Conclusion: the less education the more people can get influence by a Republican Government and convince them to keep Republicans in power.... lie, lie, lie, lie, ....

  • Corbett will also not Tax the Hydraulic Fracking drilling companies for fracking on PA land. He would rather cut funding for education then make these Billion Dollar drilling companies pay tax... Think those if us in PA need to Recall our corrupt governor.

  • @jediknightkass44 Think those of us in PA need to Recall our corrupt governor* had to fix typo lol.).

  • 3 percent... +/- 3 So it could be 6... it could also be 0

  • Those 3% are idiot libertarians. these people are suckers who are being mislead.

  • So they plan too split the money to schools in the US and spit it between 2 school divisions catholic and public? while taking 1 B away..

  • I always enjoy Rendell, but the man needs to get his burping under control.

  • Sucks to live in PA right now...:(

  • bill gates? the guy who's tried to kill free software for decades is the highest philanthropist u can think of?

  • @BOZ11

    Warren Buffett, there.

  • @Shinius "If the government hadn't acted, I would be eating Thanksgiving dinner at McDonald's," Warren Buffett said on CNBC.

The above is in reference to the tax payer funded bank bailout. Thank you little Mr. Tax Payer for keeping rich men rich artificially. Your contribution will be mentioned in passing. Have a nice day

  • @BOZ11 If Warren Buffett were eating at McDonald's you'd have starved to death.

  • @nilbud I really hope that's sarcasm. The gov't has to remove money from ordinary tax payers (and give it to the bankers) to make the tax payer richer? Thanks for the laugh

  • @BOZ11 Although 90% of the stories regarding bill gates sound like bullshit, I'll still give you that, yet, doesn't detract from the fact that he donated a load of money and helped a bunch of people. We struggle with microsoft's monopoly on software, while at least he helps people struggling against the monopoly of hunger, heh.

  • @grimordwow Of course he donated money. How the hell can one man legitimately spend $60B worth of ill gotten funds derived from anti-trust/monopolistic trade practices if not in philanthropy? You little serfs really do a good job of deifying the rich.

  • they do that 4fucking 30 years

  • MSNBC has their answer to glen beck

  • @KarateKidX They aren't even remotely similar

  • There's another reason why the religious right want to cut education. There's a corrolation between education and religion. The higher educated someone is (especially science) the less likely they are to be strongly religious.

  • today "there are some things I will not do"

next week "there are some thing I'm going to do"

  • @Scarletpooky You mean tomorrow.

  • Comment removed

  • I believe these sort of deep cuts to education at least can have the effect of creating what George Carlin called 'obedient workers' whether these uber-Republican governors are aware of it or not. In terms of deliberate motivation to cut education so deeply, especially higher education, I've always observed that many of these uber-Republicans have this anti-intellectual idea of such education having a liberal commie bias, so that's my guess.

  • @TheNeocatZone It's a nice side effect, but I doubt most Republicans in power are smart enough to actually be driving the idea of creating obedient workers as a goal. They work on a more simple level: one, they don't like people smarter than they are, and two, education is low hanging fruit to cut. (Education cuts are nothing new and not Republican only.)

I just hope this will start getting things like Khan Academy into a better public light.

  • @DeJach "one, they don't like people smarter than they are" That's what I mean; the motivation is to go after education out of ideological dumbness and the side effect of obedient workers turns into a weird, coincidental boon for corporate interests. That's what you call systemic corruption; the corporate system feeds into a certain mentality, and then the mentality feeds the corporate system. Ahh, the vicious cycle of it all.

  • @TheNeocatZone You're exactly right, it's a negative feedback cycle, and you can't tackle one side of it without also tackling the other. Same with black culture and black poverty, drug laws and a need for economic slaves (prison workers), etc. etc. And often the loops have many issues involved, not just a simplified two.

Any bets on when Obama will cave on Pell Grants? It's very hard to change the system on the inside, since almost every time it's the system that changes you. RIP old-Obama.

  • @DeJach I'm actually doing some prep work right now so I can do videos on those very issues and more and inject some ideas into the discourse on how to possibly tackle these issues. It's been a trial by error process so far, but hopefully I finally have a handle on how I'll do the videos. The Drug War and the prison-industrial complex are issues I've been concerned with as well right up there with financial corruption and the military-industrial complex.

  • P.S. I just looked Khan Academy, liked what I saw, and subscribed.

  • California Gov. Jerry Brown is cutting education as well, Cenk. I'm a fan of yours, but you can't act like it's only Republicans doing the education cuts.

  • @Caryatides When Cenk is on MSNBC the tacit message is always "Dems good; GOP bad".

It's quite sad to see this Young Turk watered down for TV News.

  • See you in Canada!

  • @Nigomsa I hope you get accepted here, because you must be this smart to get it.

  • quality of education keeps decreasing and my tuition continues to go up =/
