  • what tulip??

  • Continental is down and out. So is Northwest. American Airlines is Next!

  • I love the new UNITED!

  • I'm worried about the effects of the recession and economy problems could have an effect on quality and standards of maintenance.

  • @210482fmj You shouldn't worry, Not only is United bringing their call centers and reservations centers back to the United States, They're doing the very same with the Maintenance bases as well. Yes, we are losing the Tulip, and that hurts somethin' fierce as a 27 year vet of the company. But, I will say that our product will be nothing but Better. Boeing Strong, US Based, And back to what a -REAL- U.S. Airline USED to be.

  • I think at least, if they're going to use this "Globe" Livery.. They need to bring back United's slogan from the 90's and put "World Wide Service" Back on the planes just in front of the main cabin doors/on the side of the nose under the flight deck.

  • I like the orginal United colors better. Continental's colors are so ugly.

  • I think eliminating the Tulip is United's attempt to remove the red, white, and blue scheme from the planes because we live in a sick, spineless, politically-correct culture today that doesn't want us to be proud of our country.

  • @Supermassively Uhh.. That's an interesting conspiracy theory... definitely one I've not heard before.

  • @MyleneJ And it makes sense. They're moving away from an America-themed paint scheme to a ridiculous Kumbaya-singing "world peace" globalist paint scheme where we're all just different colors of the idiotic politically-correct cultural rainbow. Ugh, fucking hippies.

  • @Supermassively If you seriously believe that, then I'm sorry but you need therapy or counseling or something.

The Simple fact of the matter is, the livery is the way it is because it's meant to be a showing of a MERGE and both a goodbye and remembrance of Continental, since as the merger fully closes, Continental will no longer exist. Whether you like the paint or not it's an Attempt at an Honorable Salute to Continental, not some whacked Anti-American propaganda bullshit.

  • What the hell is this? Talk about the DEATH of United? I mean the gray livery was bad, but this? This is ATROCIOUS. It looks like a goddamn Continental plane with a token United logo in the front in one hell of an ugly font. How far have we gone? From the touching "Flying the Friendly Skies" campaign and the beautiful tulip red white and blue designs to THIS? I mean it's downright ugly. This generation is just a failure at everything. Pop culture, design, business, politics, the country.

  • @552mustang I like it and I'm sure others do too. If you don't like it and you feel that this new look is enough of a factor to warrant a change of airlines, feel free to switch. United Continental is not begging you for your patronage. In fact, if you don't like the politics, pop culture, or business of the nation, feel free to move to Canada or Spain. No one is going to beg you to stay.

  • @gobipill Yahhh! What's there not to like? You know in the old days when non-brand food at grocery stores came in plain white cans with the word PEAS or CARROTS in a typewriter font? There you go, that's your new united plane. No identity, no national origin, no design, theres NOTHING THERE. Like I said in another post, it's like a plane that would have come out of the Soviet Eastern Block in the 70s. I guess the Commies won here too, they just infiltrated the culture LOL. Look it's a PLANE!

  • Thats continental...?

  • rode on one to israel back in july, freakin amazing!

  • To be honest, in regards to livery, I think this is the best merger. I mean, think about the other mergers where one airline dissolves another airline. America West/US AIRWAYS... which paint scheme stayed with that, US AIRWAYS. The Northwest/Delta merger, Northwest paint scheme vanished. TWA/American, TWA paint scheme also vanished. At least with this merger, we get a little of both. We keep the United name and also the Continental paint scheme. We really didn't lose much.

  • @ERAUPRCWA The Tulip was EVERYTHING

  • Another American name gone for good....Continental...... glad they merged at least, rather than a TWA thing

  • This is so cool!

  • I hate those small engines, buy some GE engines the next theme.

  • i cant wait until united gets their first 787

  • Hate United.

  • @ikolkyo967 I'm sure they hate your gay ass too.

  • @tomgunc Your comment was unessesary . Its my opinion and i like Continental better.

  • I HATE this new livery: It's REALLY CONTINENTAL with the UNITED name slapped on, very tacky!

  • @tonyde52 I agree with you 100%. When I worked for United we just switched from all white planes to the grey and blue in the sky......this ruined the fun of looking at UAL in action or even on the tarmac.

  • iI have a really dumb question. How did they shoot this commercial? I can see how they shot it too the left and right of the aircraft but how did they shoot the front of the 777

  • Can't wait for the 787 version of this video.

  • Nice Video. the tulip is a unique symbol of united. is not the same with out it!

  • Nice though we'll miss the Sweep.

  • WHO VOTES UP THAT NEW UNITED AIRLINES FROM CONTINENTAL AIRLINES CRASH :)

  • Im gonna create and fs2004 version of this, same music

  • I was on that plane

    It was an 300ER

  • @ZLBproject That plane is a 777-200ER, not a 300ER. United, or Continental for that matter, don't have those

  • I know this is Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin but anyone know where I can find this rendition?

  • i just came in my pants a little bit

  • Just when United came up with a good paint job, they kill it with this crappy livery. The laughing stock of the graphics industry... Continetal has managed to kill not just one but three Saul Bass logos: The original Continental, Frontier "F" and the United "tulip".

  • Quit complaining about the paint/merger. It's a sexy plane and you know it. (Admittedly not as sexy as the 787 -- but that just might be impossible anyways.)

  • likes a commercail from the 80's

  • The Globe looks better to me lol. Born and Raised at ORD!!! don't hate me hehehehe

  • @chicagomarchingbands Love ORD, EWR, UA and CO, but just hate the merger! :-(

  • I am in no way happy about the merger, but it simply cannot be stopped.

I loved Continental - on its own.

And I loved United - but on its own!

But I hate this new UNITED!

  • Down with $mi$ek

  • You mean the disgusting 777. It's a disgusting livery on a beautiful plane. And it's not United until it gets the Tulip back. Down with $mi$ek.

  • @crackaddict444 I couldnt agree with you more, I cant stand to see the United name in these colors or globe! ick!

  • I have a feeling this video will be used in the new United safety video after SOC.

  • i like the merger

  • This is an awe-inspiring video.

  • I am so sad I was looking forward to flying the 777 to Hawaii and I missed it going because of delays and coming home it got cancelled! Luck was not on my side on this trip, oh well, next time....

  • lang weilig

  • Will All continental flights change

  • Hopefully United will add the 777-300ER to its fleet.

  • Logos come, and logos go. While i agree that i will miss the "Tulip" Terribly. At least it's still United, and Rhapsody In Blue.

  • It's not UNITED without the tulip.

  • @markoel

    it's united with its employees.

  • @markoel you know what would be cool? Keep that continental globe on the tail BUT add the classic tulip next to the font-logo. Something like air frances new livery with a red bar next to the font.

I think it would look awesome with a golden/blue tulip next to united

  • @markoel No one is more saddened by the loss of the Tulip than I am, But you have to remember United was United long before the tulip Existed.

What makes United is It's Service, Employees, and Aircraft. -NOT- a smattering of paint, and trust me as a Second Generation United Employee, Those Three Keys are only going to get better!

  • @markoel I'm a second generation United Employee, my mother was a 40 year flight attendant before me. I love United, and always will. So believe me when I say this. It was United Long before the Tulip, and it will be United long After the Tulip. What really makes United what it is, is it's Routes, Planes, and most of all its People, and All three of those have just gotten Even Better.

  • I admire your loyalty to your airline. However, calling this travesty "United" is quite frankly insulting to me and to many others. It's freaking Continental parading around as United. You may not have issues with the logo being ditched, but I and many others, as well many FFers of UA, do. I'm never going to accept this god awful paint job foisted on us by that bastard $mi$ek as part of United and until the Tulip returns, United is dead to me.

  • @crackaddict444 Mkay, I've been nice so far but this time I'll just be blunt, since you didn't get my more subtle hints in the past. IT IS A TEMPORARY LIVERY! As I have said before, in 5 years or so after the merger it'll change, to something entirely new, unique and 100% United.

You have to remember, Continental is ceasing to exist, and so this is intended to reflect the merge AND be a respectful Farewell to CO. So Calm Down and wait to see what the future holds.

  • @MyleneJ Oh really? You know that for a fact huh? Sorry, but this crappy livery is here to stay until at least $mi$ek's departure, and after that it's no guarantee they'll change it and if they do, no guarantee the Tulip returns. And you're kidding yourself if it was done as a "goodbye" to CO. It was done to show that you and all the fellow UA'ers are worthless and that CO is running the show. Stand up for your airline and your logo, rather than just accept this crap. We are on YOUR side.

  • @crackaddict444 All I can say to you, is this: I am going to miss the 'Tulip' As much if not more than anyone, United has quite literally been my Entire Life. I think it blows that they didn't incorporate it into the new livery at all, but I can say this. It was United before the Weston "Tulip" Existed, and it will be United long after it's gone. What TRULY makes United what it is goes beyond paint, It's the People and Service behind the paint that really makes United what it is.

  • @markoel hOW RIGHT YOU ARE

  • Just love Rhapsody In Blue, United and the 777, but this livery is just gross!

  • Love Rhapsody in Blue. Miss that as United's theme. But do NOT like the new livery - awful. I especially don't like how mileage requirements for awards are going up AGAIN in June. Premier Execs and Premiers just got booted off the red carpet too! Thanks merger! Did you like those complimentary upgrades you were getting? Say goodbye; with the merging of frequent flyers from two airlines into one, you' PE's and P's are at the bottom again. Buh-bye!

  • @Vistamister Yea, it's total bullshit, they are taking the worst of both airlines and combining it.

  • I've no idea why people object to this piece- it's great! IGNORE the naysayers.
