  • I'm here because in 2006 i watched this video on MTV

  • :O im not sure what brought me here....

  • can't believe it's been 6 years

  • love this song... but the edited version for the music video just doesn't have the same early build-up to break down properly into that funky dance party shakin' and groovin'. check the album version if you want to see what i mean =)

  • never again will I watch this high

  • Get out of my head! I've been listening to this at least 4-5 times a day since a friend suggested this band. I'll be back again later.

  • awesome song here wow cool indeed

  • Prefer Trentemøller's Remix...

  • 0.48 IT'S A TRAP!

  • Its been a while since I've seen something this creative.

  • Anyone not understanding the video, its Japanese, enough said. Anyone not getting the music, its Swedish, also enough said!

  • @Mindmodic THANK YOU.

  • @Mindmodic Huh? What makes the video Japanese? And the song is in English.

  • @jmtley The animator/director is Japanese. The Knife are Swedish.

  • @Ravemecaptain I know, but he said the music is Swedish. I'd consider a song whose lyrics are in Swedish as Swedish, not a song written in English.

  • Vidoe: Imaginations of a sick brain?

  • PING PONG!

  • epic, epic tune, Will never get old. The Knife are the definitive of cool and amazing

  • @smithslover1 i agree.......like a pen got me first....while all others around me frowned....i loved....and silent shout...and just so creative...its always open to add to....like all true music

  • epic!!!!!! an epic single!!!! and i just cant get enough!

  • so fuckin awesome!!! i love the knife so much

  • i cant notice a single word theyre saying except we share our mothers health

  • They are fucking brilliant. They're the most original sounding, visually interesting duo around. And, yes, I know they're no longer together.Or are they just doing separate projects?

  • @sluggish5000 they've been doing separate projects for the last few years, but there is some news that they are back together and working on another album!

  • so goood!

  • I'd expect to hear this kind of tune in some tech noir futuristic strip club. That would be EPIC.

  • 249 people couldnt find the sacred apple.

  • モトミチナカムラ

  • have any of u guys seen the zalza remix???

  • so. good.

  • reminds me of an 8-bit video game

  • 0:10 for the song

  • Reverse this song and it sounds even weirder.

  • This is some good shit.

  • They Are Great!

  • trian gle

  • This sounds like how I feel.

  • the Knife = sick & ill & dope.

  • its suppost to be a nightmarish dream about a sacred apple a girl is searching for, and what she has to pay to get it .

  • 2:07 wtf???

  • At 2:37... did it just s*** out an apple?!

  • I like the weird beastial groaning

  • What?

  • OH GOD THE QUALITY! MY EARS! I CAN'T FEEL MY EARS!!

  • Fuck, I love it

  • I never can watch the entire thing without feeling slightly uncomfortable, but I don't care because the song is ridiculously good ^_^

  • I fucking love this tune!

  • Soooo hard to drive the speed limit with this and a Northstar, dangerous mixture.

  • Trippy..

  • oh no, the people who are afraid of everything they dont know about is already here talking about how "weird" this is! run to bjorks house people!

  • @glhmtv I am not afraid of everything I don't know. I have extensive education in and experience with many, many schools and styles of music and video production, and this video is at the very least decidedly odd. Fear and ignorance are not necessary perquisites to finding something weird, or not to one's taste, or even disgusting or repulsive.

  • @LadyDeirdre good for you

  • WE SHARE AW MADA'S HETH!!!

  • say you like it. say you need it, when you don't. looking better, shining brighter than you do. HAHA XD. love it. also, 247 people didnt have their mother's health.

  • pitch shifting adds a dark dimension to the knife's music, i love it, it will Never get old. :) its something i would blast loud!

  • This is the way The Knife should sound. We Share Our Mother's Health will never get old.

  • Yeah, okay, this video is too freaky to be watching at night.

  • @QhaoticZombie or when your high ;P

  • fucking awesome

  • They are so wonderful!!!

  • @tantrangle

Oh God, maybe you should find some new friends aha!!? i know, i don't know how lady Gaga got so big? she thinks she is so original when all she has actually done is rip past great artists off. and i don't get how all her clothes are all so out there and original but her music is just crappy pop? she's so damn commercial, like the whole frikkin pop industry!

  • Who needs 3D and HD when you can have 3-colored awesomeness

  • @Mr7elmi You havent seen the music scene i guess

  • @coolforgeeks ..... i can't even begin to.....like what, i don't even. fuck you. of course there's a deeper meaning.

  • pootis birds

  • Motomichi Nakamura must have been high off his balls making this video

  • So beautiful...

  • FUCKING AWESOME

I was longing for saying this since I heard this song.

Now I have a youtube account and I can share my opinion

    with the world yeahh

  • Oh my god. I love it. I love it.

if u have any recommendations i would like hear them

    thanks.

  • @234dragoman royksopp ;]

  • @Pulsica01 agreed roysopp "what else is there" trentmoller remix... very good stuff.

  • @234dragoman

    Mum

    Sigur Ros

    Suzanna and the Magical Orchestra

Efterklang (not sure if theyre scandinavian but sound it?£E?EQ?)

  • @234dragoman The Radio Dept, Club 8, I Break Horses, The Mary Onettes, and The Legends are top Swedish bands with a modicum of Stateside popularity.

  • god damnit, I came here to bash the knife for how they are disgusted by their own fan base, media supporters. yet by the middle of this song, I was saying "You know what I fear

The end is always near "

  • ratatat is a jam band, this is an electropop band...

  • fuck the knife, they hate their fans, they think the music industry is dominated by male bands. What the fuck? why even become a band if you can't handle people enjoying your music. I'm deleting all their shit off my ipod, never knew of a band in so much loath of their own supporters. fucking pompous sweeds.

  • Everyone should go find the ratatat remix of this song. It's one of the very few cases where the remix is actually better than the original.

  • @caffeinato I disagree remixes are usually better this is one of the rare cases where the original kicks the remixes ass

  • @MrEpic42

Have you ever heard the ratatat remix of this song?

  • @caffeinato Yeah i did, didn;t like it

but i am a big fan of them

  • @MrEpic42

H'oh well, to each their own.

  • The video reminds me ever so faintly of Bathtime in Clerkenwell

  • is karin singing the man vocals?

  • I wanna play an insane round of table tennis to this song! AHAHA so awesome!

  • Fine forget any type of format, Youtube disagrees.

  • YeahI'mafixthat- Lyricsness. Just like Engrish.. We came down from the north Blue hands and a torch Red wine and food for free A possibility We share our mothers' health It is what we've been dealt What's in it for me? Fine Then I'll agree Trees there will be Apples, fruits maybe You know what I fear The end is always near (x2) Say you like iiit, say you need iiit when you don't looking betterrr, shining brighterrr, than you do -Repeat many times. • Cool stuff

I just dont dig the sado-maso mood of the video.

Never found pain or anguish to be pleasurable in any way

    but that's just me apparently

    so who cares

    whatever.

  • @alienlabs I think it jives well with the mood of the song. Raping, pillaging the earth (our mother) is simultaneously raping and pillaging ourselves. It's a sado-masochistic cycle.

  • idiota total

  • @bialimamika Não seja tão má, todos tem gostos diferentes.

The knife, fever ray, i love them, so mystic, strange, and beautiful, they're perfect.

  • vwsome.

  • This video is about being gay! I love it!

  • WEIRDEST THING I EVER SEEN

  • @Mr7elmi

    then you havent seen much

  • @Mr7elmi you need to see more then ; )

  • @Mr7elmi you must not get out much

  • @Mr7elmi seriously, hv you ever seen Bjork ?

  • Nooooooooo unreal! hasta ahorita le agarro la onda al videooooooo!!!!!!!

  • how is this song about abortion? while I dont exactly agrea with pollymatication's interpretation, I think its way more likely than abortion. (thanks for posting the lyrics by the way)

brilliant song though. I absolutely love it.

  • Some of these sounds remind me of my electribes! Great track, thanks for the quality upload.

  • the lyrics are: We came down from the north Blue hands and a torch Red wine and food for free A possibility We share our mothers' health It is what we've been dealt What's in it for me? Fine Then I'll agree Trees there will be Apples, fruits maybe You know what I fear The end is always near x2 Say you like it Say you need it When you don't Looking better Shining brighter Than you do x2
  • I think the first 2 lines are about the human race developing "we came down from the north, blue hands and a torch" to put into perspective that now there's massive inequality, and how this system perpetuates that: "We share our mothers' health, It is what we've been dealt" (meaning we benefit from the wealth we're born into).

"What's in it for me? Fine, then I'll agree" (We don't seem to care that people are dying, as long as we're alright with food, money, housing etc")

    Thats the first verse

  • Holy shit this is so beautiful

  • Umm.... This song is about Abortion i bet

  • @LastActionCowboy This is one of my fav songs but I didn't notice about this until u said it. Revelation!

  • @Estefy136 im really disturbed by this song and video

  • @LastActionCowboy Yeah it used to disturb me a lot while watching the video but then I just downloaded it and got the mp3 cuz for me the beat is insanely fine... although I think it's started disturbing me again with the abortion idea around

  • @Estefy136 its not the song that disturbs me, even though i dont know what theyre saying, its the video, ive never seen something more trippy in my entire life

  • @LastActionCowboy now that youve said it i can totally hear the abortion in this song lol

  • @LastActionCowboy sorry dudes, but i'm pretty sure that this song isn't about abortion, i believe it might be about how the international military-industrial-pharmaceutical complex is killing us and the planet with their chemicals, food, weapons, wars and drugs(if they can't get you hooked on street drugs, they'll poison you will pills that a doctor gives you).for most europeans(and canadians) issues like abortion, human sexuality and christianity are non-issues.

  • @teendreamdeejay this is so about abortion, you dont even know

  • @LastActionCowboy ....i really dig the crazy ass alarm bells going off all over the place in this song and the dude chanting the word "addiction". a lot of the lyrics in their music is hard to understand-the knife are not native english speakers--like what is she saying "scootch baby? if you want to hear a most excellent song that is about abortion, try "bodies" by the sex pistols. now that's disturbing.

  • WoW!

  • hella kinky

  • This ma jam.

  • You know, I don't think there will ever be a soft acoustic version of this one.

  • love animation, and like song

  • I keep coming back to look at this video from time to time, it's captivating

  • "The animation starts with a girl that wakes up from a long sleep and starts searching for a sacred apple. At the end of a nightmarish story the girl is able to find her apple but only to discover the real price that she has to pay for it."

  • @TheDecadeMoon what does the apple represent? what does she have to pay?

  • @pollymatication I would like to know that too. I stole that quote off the wikipedia article lol.

  • Classic, I understand this showed up in the "suggestions" to Nils Bech's artsy-fartsy "Look Back", he would kill to make anything as remotely relevant as this.

  • This video is deeply unsettling, but I can't look away.

  • this song is fucking unreal!!

  • Thanks alot video now i am going to have fucking nightmears :0

  • Fuck Yes!!!

  • this vid just makes me uncomfortable

  • I knew The Knife couldn't make a song with normal lyrics (:

  • Nice!!! :)

  • thumbs up if the thumbnail makes you think "homefront?"

  • I'm addicted to the song and video! ITSSOMECANDYSHITFORMYEARSANDEYES!

  • incredible song, video reminds me of superjail a little. lol

  • I love this song. Love this video. Love the band. C:

  • While the music video for Rebecca lack's 'Friday' was shot, this was the song chanted by the sewer people right beneath.

  • @pointPi

  • I still love the Ratatat remix more of this song but yeah, one of my fav albums.

  • huge sacks of irony, but hey, we all listen to whatever we want.

  • YMO-esque sounds

  • I'm scared...

  • @SurrealisticDuck Me too....

  • this song is about implants and the benefits an individual can get from it... just look at all the surgery tools in the video.

"kids say you need it when you don't

looking better, shining brighter than you do"

    implants!

"we share our mothers health, it is what we've been dealt"

means that you are dealt looks according to your genes.

  • Totally Sheen to this vid...!

  • Why do people assume there's some huge, deeper meaning to songs?

Sometimes artists just get high. And then they come up with stuff that makes sense to them when they're high.

And everybody praises them because they've created something they don't understand that they call "deep", whose meaning the original artists themselves have probably lost from becoming sober. (Nirvana admitted this about Smells Like Teen Spirit).

A good song, a trippy music video, but I'd say that's about all.

  • @Coolforgeeks the symbolism is pretty damn obvious - even the title makes the video make sense

  • @Coolforgeeks Not *everyone*.

  • @Coolforgeeks because - surprise! - people are allowed their own interpretation of things!

And Kurt wasn't wasted when he wrote Teen Spirit, that song was a deliberate piss take.

  • Is it just me, or does the part from about 1:10 to 1:25 sound like a slow version of the child choir from Justice`s D.A.N.C.E ?

  • i love this song live the intro its sooooo right!

  • Great song! I love them :)

  • 233 homosexual's i see XD and before you send me hate male i dont care if your straight or not.. who am i to say your wrong so dont bother

  • nice video!

  • This song is simply outstanding!

  • I realize interpretation of art is subjective and there is no wrong, but, man, some of these ideas about the meaning of the video are really lame. Abortion? Really? Maybe so, in addition to other stuff. I see it as being about pain realized as pleasure (S&M, or torture, maybe) and where the line is drawn. "say you like it, say you need it, but you don't" makes me think of addiction and consumption/greed. I can't get enough of this super banging song tho. And the video is not "scary", lol.

  • @wakegrrl

That's what I get from it, too. Greed and over consumption. People jumping from high rises, being carried away by animals, fruit and flowers. Say you need your junk, say you like your junk, you don't. Couple this with the two of them being pretty anti-capitalism and it sounds like it's a "Let's live in trees before we all die and bring the planet with us" type song or something.

  • yep i think that is as close as ull get to an interpretation... whithout any of us really knowing of. based on the video i was thinking maybe abortion too.. but it doesn't seem to fit in the end. anyways cheers

  • @tziirkq I think you're right

  • wtf is this shit

  • @villainprestige welcome to the world of the knife :D

  • @villainprestige

says guy who put this on yt -> watch?v=RqKDkZpppaU <- (and probably made it )<
