  • The Ron Paul of Canada. R.I.P Mr. Layton

  • @ajcaron17

Careful. Ron Paul supports small govt. and Layton supported massive government programs. I see your point in influence, but you need to do your research.

  • I wonder If Jack Got the 20 after Duncan won in strathcona

  • @Canhistoryismylife Holy crap. How did they manage to get that seat?

  • Jack I will miss you. You are a great Canadian and will be sorely missed.

  • RIP Jack, il always remember you. A great influence for Canadians and an inspiration for all.

  • I hope he's living his new life making a hip-hop album.

  • Parliament hasn't been the same without him :(

  • George had better given Jack his 20$ and a cold beer.

  • R.I.P.

  • Lots of hate for Harper here. Sad. If Jack had won we would be up shit's creek right now. Imagine all those loonie leftists that Jack kept under control just running rampant trying to rule over us like the ignorant socialists they are. We would be in the same boat as Greece. I'm glad we have Harper as PM. Besides, he doesn't hang out in Chinese whorehouses in Toronto.

  • @cobalt545 Just for the record, when's the last year a Conservative government balanced a budget. Now try and convince me that extreme right-wing ruling is so much better for the economy, then look at the States, then look at Sweden, Norway, Finland. THEN SHUT THE FUCK UP

  • @1j0k3 Canada never had a high deficit until Trudeau was elected. He then went on a spending spree to buy votes from the east. Then he came up with ideas like the NEP to get more money from the west to keep buying votes from the east. Since then the left has been borrowing and taxing to keep the lazy left appeased. Forbid any of you actually voted for the libs or NDP based on merit. You vote based on what largesse you can get from our taxes.

  • @cobalt545 The conservatives seem to be good to the economy, I'll give you that. But the thing is, it doesn't seem that the working families are profiting from it, but maybe we should give it some time. Who knows, maybe entreprises do give a shit about their employees. We must have faith in them they're the one getting the money. Harper does not exactly respect the House of Commons, but again, people gave him majority, they want politicians to stfu and act. Lets cross our fingers eh?

  • We lost a great Canadian. RIP Jack :( You will always be remembered!

  • Who the fuck is jac layton?

  • @ArmTriangleChoke If you're able to use youtube's comment you should be able to use Google or Wikipedia...

  • Hey Strombozo...how about paying for your own parties with your no talent nobody friends instead of Canadian taxpayers footing the bill. Sucking it up with the other left wing pigs at the trough. You're a douchebag.

  • @footluv71 lol this is precisely where our money SHOULD be going. and hes not left wing. hes had liberals, grits, BLOCs, NDPs, Mulroney.. he's had eveyrone excepted Harper and his minions. George has had every canadian political party leader on his show except Harper because Harper is a disgrace to Canada. And you're nothing but a coward and a sellout, supporting Big Brother and his silly, old fashioned, right wing ideas that aren't relevant in the 21st century.

  • @Freethinker12341 Whoa, what do we have here, a Baldwin brother?

  • @footluv71 i'm anti-fascist. so in all seriousness, i eat pigs like you for dinner

  • @Freethinker12341 I guess we know what happened to the Nyquil.

  • I'm from Alberta, lived here all my life and respected him. Strange, huh?

  • I hope he got a good handjob from Ruth Ellen-Brosseau before he kicked the bucket.

  • "People told us we could never win in Quebec"

He was happy to have one a single seat in Quebec back then. Look how far he came in 4 years.

Wow. Way to go Jack. RIP.

  • I heart George

  • Beautifully said, MorbidxMistress! He was inspiring and continues to inspire after his passing. I was so moved by his Last Letter to Canadians... I composed a short piano piece in his memory (You can find it by searching for "Layton's Morning", if you want)

I'm very curious to see the momentum continue and what comes from it...

  • What a truly inspiring man! This guy is what motivated me to vote last election and I'm so glad to say that I voted NDP. It is so unfortunate that Canada has lost such an incredible leader who would've been the best prime minister our country has ever seen. The silver lining in all of this is that after his death, it seems that more people are starting to wake up and follow this guy. Let's get Harper out of here next election and vote for a real opposition, a real chance at a new future!

  • What I would do for a cold beer with Jack Layton

  • @robrooster34 I didn't think Jack Layton was a drunk, so I don't think he would want a beer.

  • Amazing to watch this in retrospect. Stephen Harper is the wrong PM, may we choose wisely next time.

  • I never met Jack but he was a very sincere man that has done a lot for this country then the previous one we got but he simply brought back our values this country hasn't had in a long time.

  • @b3gregjockca you're an idiot

  • Life has never been about power or position but rather how one lives their life.

Jacks life was well lived..thanks for the humanity not the bitter smallness some can't help but be.Loved Tommy loved Jack 2 big hearted souls. No bitterness in my heart nor soul ...well wishes always Jack, love ya be peaceful

  • Jack defines Canadians. He fought his cancer, but now doesn't have to. RIP Jack, we'll all miss you.

  • PROUD TO BE FRENCH CANADIAN... from QUEBEC.... here in quebec we voted for jack... and fuck the rest of canada.. JACK WILL REMEMBER IT

  • @makkakman dude, his whole message was Canadians coming together, I'm an English Canadian, your a French Canadian, as his final farewell to Canada; "get together" my friend

  • @robrooster34 yep

  • He was so vital and energetic. He never relented in his beliefs and the capacity of his party to achieve more for Canadians and he definitely proved it with his massive historical achievements. My heart goes out to his family. We have to thank them for sharing their loved one with the rest of the country. The reason that I lament for Jack is because there was so much more he could achieve. I hope no one forgets what he stood for because he truly had the well being of all Canadians at heart.

  • It's kinda sad that he will be remembered because of his death and that the best thing for the NDP is his death.. He is the NDPs Che. I voted for NDP since I was 18 years old, and it was because of him that I voted. I hope the next will fill his large shoes.

  • I was there at the taping of this show. Feel very privileged.

  • That's how the Bilderberg Group does it Plance Crash ! Car Wreck ! heart Attacks ! and Cancer !

  • if you were still here id stick my hand up your butt and grab the cancer

  • I only heard of him after he died. RIP beautiful spirit

  • I'm so pissed off he's gone.

  • yes

  • Exit404 tribute song "In The Shadows"

  • Strombo, eat your words. See how many seats this guy won?

  • Jack was probably the only hope for Canada. Harper is a huge liar with no respect or responsibility, and Ignatieff was a traitor to all of Canada.

    R.I.P Jack Layton.

  • @MattJoey2142 ..."a liar with no respect or responsibility?" Get a grip.

  • God, Guns, Gas, Greed and the GOP. Don't be concerned about Canadian politics...worry about your own country. Don't come in here and tear down a man who just died of cancer when the whole country is upset by his loss...a man who really gave a damn about working class Canadians, the environment and maintaining our universal healthcare system. Not everyone agreed with Jack but everyone liked the man...he was personable with a lot of integrity and he truly cared. That is what set people off.

  • Jack Layton was without a doubt the best politician Canada has had in a long time. His character, patriotism, and optimistic spirit has inspired many including myself to not live everyday life in a selfish manner, but to strive to achieve a better Canada, one of equality, one with better environmental policies, one that does what is right and not just for financial gains.

Jack Layton's legacy will forever be remembered by my generation, he gave hope to a new generation. Thank you Jack Layton RIP

  • Jack thanks for fight and stand for as. Canada and Canadians are so proud of you.

Thank for teaching us to believe in our selves, and to fight for our right. You will missed by all people you fighting for and RIP Jack.

  • Rest in Peace Jack! Thank you for believing in us and believing in Canada. We will never forget you.

  • WHY DID THE BEST LEADER HAVE TO DIE

    WHY DIDN'T YOU TAKE IGGY?

  • I hope you managed to give Jack the $20 and the cold beer, George. Jack won the bet. Linda Duncan of the NDP won her Edmonton-Strathcona seat in Alberta :-)

  • Join us in our quest to have an eternal flame placed by Jack's graveside to represent the torch he so brightly lit will continue on in his name. Search facebook JACK LAYTON ETERNAL FLAME

  • I so hoped that I would meet you one day but you're gone. I voted for you. Hope that you're fine, wherever you are.

  • we all shall miss you Jack!

  • Sleeves ALWAYS rolled up and ready to work and fight...RIP Mr. Layton!

  • It's kind of funny that Jack was able to get 1 seat in Alberta that year from Linda Duncan (2008) when the rest of the province of Alberta voted Conservative. I wonder if he got that cold beer lol. But I understood where George was coming from too, becasue it is a very Blue Province Alberta is .. RIP Jack!

  • I wonder if George paid up his bet.....

It happened George.. What a hater..

  • I wonder if George paid up his bet.....

  • What a wonderful country you would have made. We will all miss you Jack. Rest easy.

  • He could have done it too. He could have gone all the way! Cancer is so evil -__-

  • I am heart broken that he has lost his life. He was the only leader that was honest and genuine. I'm 16 years old and going into grade 12 and ever since I was in grade 5 I thought, "When I'm 18 that's who I'm voting for." Now I can't do that. It brings tears to my eyes and I've never cried for anyone who has died and I haven't met. This man touched the lives of many and I'm honestly so grateful that I had the opportunity to witness Jack Layton become the official opposition. RIP Jack Layton! <3

  • The ones who dare think and act diffrent often go too fast

  • I wish people would stop writing RIP. Its lazy and obnoxious.

  • @BigwalleyesDotCom so we're lazy for trying to pay our respects? shut the hell up you goof

  • George was such a negative jerk. We miss you and your positivity Jack! Canada has lost it's greatest champion of the people.

  • Comment removed

  • I live in Edmonton- Stathcona. I put in a vote that put Linda Duncan in office. When people say it cannot be done Layton showed it could. I will miss him very dearly. All we can do now is honour his memory by getting out there and become a part of politics.

  • lol jack won that bet... they won one seat in Alberta that election

  • R.I.P.

  • Jack Layton was full of vitality and really cared about his view of Canada's future. RIP Jack. Don't worry, we'll keep up the good fight, even though you won't be here to see it.

  • George I sure hope Jack got his cold beer :).

  • He was a fighter indeed

    Rip

  • Jack was right all along. Tax the corporations and the top 1% at a higher rater than Harper. Then once you have the extra income put it towards new industry and pensions. How can anyone be against this?

  • George, I hope you bought him his cold beer while you had the chance. The NDP won the Edmonton-Strathcona riding in Alberta!

  • @p3d0 Im so gald that my family was part of making history! Edmonton Strathacona was my ridding!! Linda Duncan is a really great person, we all met her.

  • I'm not even an NDP supporter at all, but I wish his family good luck.

  • RIP Jack... definitely a one of kind politician!

  • Your work here is done Jack. Rest In Peace, you deserve it.

  • R.I.P Jack Layton

  • Thank you Jack Layton

  • Jack is a true Canadian hero. He put his country before himself. Truly a profound human being.

  • Love you, Jack. Rest in Peace. You're such a wonderful spirit, and I wish you could have been the leader of Canada. I'll always appreciate your contribution to humanity, and regret your passing too soon.

  • God needed someone to be Prime Minister of Heaven. :(

  • way to beat the libs

    congrats jack

    R.I.P.

  • I'm still not old enough to vote, but I have for a while been interested in politics and this year, I was so happy to see what amazing success this man brought to the NDP. Jack really was an inspiration to young people and he seemed like such a kind, intelligent person. I'm very that he was from Montreal, my city. He was very brave, and he will be missed by many.

  • We will miss you Jack.

  • its raining in bc today. rip jack.

  • Jack Layton was a great human, leader and humanitarian.

He really fought for the working class and the voiceless.

Jack wanted to make society a level playing field and he instilled hope to all.

What are Canadians going to do without him???

He is the definition of integrity, honor and work ethic.

I hope that his vision of Canada stays alive with his legacy.

My compassion goes out to his family and friends.

I am truly devastated by Mr.Layton's death.

  • Good man Jack! Thank you and we will miss you!

  • the BEST Prime Minister Canada never had. Canada is mourning. RIP

  • I shall truly miss Jack Layton, he was a great person. May your soul rest in peace and may God keep his wife, my deepest sympathies to her.

  • Not remembering you as a politician, Remembering you as a man. R.I.P.

  • Noble man

  • @blitzbray96 That's so true.

  • @blitzbray96 One of the greatest man in Canadian politics died today, millions voted for him. Yeah a tornado hit some town, we already know their gonna get help, why expose their misery on tv for goodness's sake. We want to remember Jack, not depress ourselves with some bloody natural disaster.

  • "Courage my friends, it's never too late to make a better world." ...Share these beautiful words!

  • Although I am philosophically opposed to NDP principles, I really hoped Jack Layton would oust the Liberals as the official opposition leader, because he genuinely earned my respect as a passionate and involved leader who would work hard every day and make Stephen Harper a much better PM. Although he never got a chance to live the dream he worked so hard for, he left a legacy to live up to, he probably died happy, still on the high of such a great victory, and surrounded by family.

  • Even though he's physically gone, videos like this will always be there to remind us how he was and how tolerant he was to others.

  • Layton actually won that bet at 5:30. Edmonton-Strathcona went to the NDP that election :)

    RIP

  • Mr Layton was a great Public Servant. It was his idealism, tenacity and his personal empathy for people which inspired many others and which characterize his starring role in Canadian politics. This is a very sad loss of an inspiring and dedicated Canadian Leader but the NDP will carry on his work

  • Writing this with a hole in my heart and a lump in my throat, fighting back the tears as best I can.

Even though I am happy at the end of his suffering, the blaring emptiness left by his passing leaves much to be desired. He set a standard for others, both as a politician and a human being. It is a very very sad day for Canada indeed. My condolences go out to his family, friends, co-workers and anyone touched by his good-natured heart.

Love you and miss you Jackie-boy.

    Rest In Peace :'(

  • he'll be sadly missed..he was our hope

  • This is so devastating for all Canada. Thank You Jack Layton, your service and spirit will remain with us always.

  • You have contributed so much for the community, your passion will live on the hearts of canadians!!

  • Merci Jack pour ton courage et ta persévérance. Tu étais un grand-homme et aurais surement été un des plus grand premier ministre du Canada.

  • rip

  • At his and his party's greatest triumph Jack loses his life and doesn't get to enjoy the fruits of his labour....damn. =(

Out of all the leaders of the parties, he was by far the best of them.

  • @JDubs878 "4 Then the LORD said to him, "This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when I said, 'I will give it to your descendants.' I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over into it." 5 And Moses the servant of the LORD died there in Moab, as the LORD had said." I'm not a religious man, but this quote is so fitting. Though Jack won't be with us we need to keep his vision alive.

  • Everyone keeps asking "who is going to be able to replace Jack?".

If not YOU, then who? If not NOW, then when?

  • Rest in peace Jack, you were one of the strongest fighters for the common man of Canada!

  • RIP

  • What a great loss for Canadian politics and hard working Canadians...

    ....and Harper's still here? JUSTICE???

  • Rest in Peace Jack. Thank you for all your service for Canadians. We will miss you terribly.

  • RIP.

  • @MrBloc7 1st: You are an american from California, therefore your opinion about who us canadians should elect is irrelevent. 2nd: You are a over-religious nutcase, therefore you shouldn't call the people from the NDP crazy. Stay with american politics and vote for Rick Perry, Michelle Bachmann or any other insane retard running for president in YOUR country.

  • @Reasonwillwin I simply stated that I was a Christian, so that makes me a "religious nutcase"? Wow I didn't realize being a Christian automatically qualifies you to be a member of the Branch Dividians or al-Qaeda. So much for tolerant, kind Canadians. And I state my opinion because I want Canada to be a good ally to the U.S. instead of a regime that is essentially Iran with no nukes across the border. Lastly, I'm supporting Jon Huntsman for the Presidency

  • @MrBloc7 ''I want Canada to be a good ally to the U.S. instead of a regime that is essentially Iran'' LMAO!! Are you kidding??!!! Have you at least taken the time to read about Canada's history, heritage and values???!! I doubt it. ''So much for tolerant, kind Canadians.'' Yeah, we're kind and tolerant. However, that is often mistaken for weakness. Most Canadian will tell you up straight what he thinks, make no mistake about it. And, yes, a lot of Americans are religious nutcases.

  • @caporalchef4 the Westboro Baptist Church represents a very small percent of the U.S. population. Unfortunately, Canada has become increasingly inane, unwittingly limiting free speech, free thought under the guises of "multiculturalism" and "protecting against hate" . And the world doesnt perceive you as weak because youre "kind", its because Canada is insecure. Everything in Canada has to be compared to America. Canada simply implements policies to distinguish themselves from America

  • @caporalchef4 and yes I'm already aware of Canada's history, and how they've always taken in the worst Americans(Tories after American Revolution, Vietnam draft dodgers, Iraq War Resisters) while the U.S. has taken in the best, smartest, most tenacious Canadians(Alanis Morisette, Jim Carey, Ryan Reynolds, etc.) all of whom have subtly turned their back on Canada and embraced America. And btw, Alexander Graham Bell was living in the U.S. when he invented the telephone

  • @MrBloc7 So, like all American idiot nutcacses, your point is that Canada is an evil country that, if it keeps going on the path its going, it will soon be an Iranian-like country threatening the US, right? Correct me if I'm wrong, please!! Canada is a small nation of 35 million, compareded to 310 millions Americans, you stupid idiot. Anyone wishing to make it big in entertainment (hollywood) or other businesses (worldwide corp.)will go to US. And, no, they didn't turn their back on Canada!

  • @MrBloc7 Please, spare us your ignorant prejudice. Have you ever travel outside your californication state?? What's your point?? America is the all perfect, all ''good against evil'' nation?? PPFFHAHAHA!! Try not to insult my intelligence with you naive ''in God we trust'' bullshit, pal. You believe America is better than Canada?? Of course, you're an American. It it a fact? I think you have a lot of issues, as every human society have. Grow up, you immature lunatic.

  • @caporalchef4 ...don't bother, while MrBloc is showing some sense in voting for the only Republican on the ticket that shows common sense (Huntsman)...the GOP has been overcome by the kind of right wing crazy religious christian nuts that you mention..Perry, Bachmann...and while Palin hasn't thrown her hat into the ring yet you just know she is itchin to do so). I thought Christians were suppose to be "kind and tolerant" and not judgemental like MrBloc. Canada is Iran/Iraq without nukes??? LMAO

LOL

  • @caporalchef4 You seem quite spiteful for someone who served in the armed forces but yes I appreciate your work supporting the mission in Afghanistan. I do believe America is a better country but I've been all across the world(Portugal, Australia, South Korea, Philippines, Brazil) and the US is loved by people all around :) We never claimed to be perfect, instead I think it's the prerogative of many Canadians who proclaim to the world that their country is the benevolent counterpart to the U.S.

  • @MrBloc7..I'm sorry but I've travelled all across the world too and even worked in different countries and I haven't heard the "love" for the US that you have...especially when Bush was in office. In fact, American backpackers use to sew Canadian flags on their bags and say they were from Canada because Americans didn't have a great reputation worldwide

  • @MrBloc7 ''I appreciate your work supporting the mission in Afghanistan'' I coudn't give a rat's ass what you appreciate. I've spent 21 months in the sandbox, actally taking part IN the mission, asshole, not for arogant, pretencious bastards like you, but to do my job and serve Canada. You should worry about what is going on in you own house before sneaking your nose in your neighbors' and preeching morality. But, you're American, it as become your expertise since WW2, I shouldn't be surprised.

  • @caporalchef4 Well I can't do anything if you refute my attempts to be sincerely gracious. And the war is for the well-being of the Afghan people, the protection of innocent civilians worldwide and essentially for all the points mentioned in the preamble of the UN Charter. And Americans have been "preaching morality" since 1898 when we helped liberate the Cubans from vicious and brutal Spanish generals. It's actually called being a global force for good rather than turning a blind eye to evil

  • @MrBloc7 garbage...Canada is a respected nation in the world because of our values. We also have a thriving economy...sorry you can't say the same at the moment. Tories were never "Americans"...they were Loyalists to the British Empire...Vietnam was a costly mistake and Iraq was an unjust war...not good examples. However, Canadians fought in WW1 and WW2 long before you guys ever showed up and while Bell was working in Boston, it was his summer home in Brantford where the phone became a reality.

  • @MrBloc7 garbage...Canada is a respected nation in the world because of our values. We also have a thriving economy...sorry you can't say the same at the moment. However, Canadians fought in WW1 and WW2 long before you guys ever showed up and while Bell was working in Boston, it was his summer home in Brantford where the phone became a reality

  • @MrBloc7 wrote "jack layton and the entire ndp is crazy as hell. If they ever win a majority government I shall enjoy watching Canada be run into the ground by ignorant, anti-American, politically correct losers" Isn't that funny because we feel the same way about the Republican party..the current lot is crazy as hell and if they win, we shall enjoy watching the US be run into the ground by ignorant, anti-Canadian (we're socialists ya know ;-) hypocritical religious losers. Have a Nice Day

  • @cate284 I never said Canada was Iraq or Iran. So i honestly don't know how you came up with that conclusion. Iraq doesnt even have nukes o.0 Anyways I said if the NDP ever gets their hands on a majority, Canada will be a carbon copy of Iran-filled with censorship, lack of free thought and discussion, and standing idly by while evil encroaches upon innocent people in the world

  • @MrBloc7 Quote from you..."I want Canada to be a good ally to the U.S. instead of a regime that is essentially Iran with no nukes across the border. " unquote..and what in God's name makes you think we are not good allies when we went into Afghanistan after 911 and came down to New York in droves to help out after 911?..when we were some of the first on the scene in New Orleans after Katrina hit to help the victims? When we are your largest trading partners? A regime like Iran? WTH?

  • @MrBloc7 Iran is a cesspool of evil religious dictators who interrogate, torture and imprison anyone who even voices a political opinion that runs counter to their own. There is absolutely no threat that Canada will ever become that with an NDP government at the helm..Norway or Sweden maybe...but it is that kind of nonsense fearmongering propoganda that Republicans in the current political climate in the US love to engage in..it's crazy talk and it doesn't fly.

  • @cate284 And I happen to like Canada, which is why I'm genuinely concerned with Canadian politics. And the GOP isn't anti-Canadian like the NDP is anti-American. The Republicans were avid supporters of NAFTA which greatly benefited Canada, although many of you oppose it because you perceive it to be yet another American threat to Canadian sovereignty. But yes I would rather have the Bloc Quebecois run Canada than the NDP

  • @MrBloc7 God, Guns, Gas, Greed and the GOP. Don't be concerned about Canadian politics...worry about your own country. Don't come in here and tear down a man who just died of cancer when the whole country is upset by his loss..a man who really gave a damn about working class Canadians, the environment and maintaining our universal healthcare system. Not everyone agreed with Jack but everyone liked the man...he was personable with a lot of integrity and he truly cared. It sets people off.

  • @cate284 When did I ever tear down Jack Layton? I havent mentioned him nor did I ever attack him personally. Am I not free to disagree with policies he supported now that he has passed away? I think Mr. Layton would have balked at the idea that we can't discuss policies that affect Canada. And okay, I guess I'll worry solely about American politics since it doesn't affect me or the entire world at all

  • @Hanniboom I think you mean PM... he's already an MP for Toronto-Danforth :P

  • in his interview he really didnt look good. i hope he can pull through it and hopefully he just looks worse then he acctually is.:( good luck mr layton

  • I don't agree with his policies but you have to admire his fighting spirit. A good all around guy.

  • putting all politics aside i wish jack all the best with his new cancer diagnosis. this will be your biggest battle yet and i hope for the best for you and your family

  • I found out not too long ago, that Jack and his wife Olivia Chow-chow have moved into their 34 room mansion in Stornoway, Ottawa. The house is valued at $4-$5 millions dollars.

And remember dear people, he's just one of us, he's working for the average man. (..... eyes roll).

  • @cheeriosinabowl just cause he has a huge house doesnt mean that he isnt willing to fight for canadians. thats like if i went to a homeless shelter to give out food and said to them im just one of you(a human being)i am here to help and work for you. and they said back yea but you have a house get the hell out of here you dont care about us. it makes no sense, what do you expect him not to spend any money, if anything he is helping our economy by spending money.

  • @cheeriosinabowl lies, he still lives in Ontario.

  • @williamgag

.... um, breaking news for you. Ottawa is IN Ontario.

  • @cheeriosinabowl my bad... Toronto xD

  • @cheeriosinabowl he had a press release about not wanting to even live there, they waited months to move in and they don't even officially live there.
