  • Is hope the same voice as sora From King Dome Harts I Need To Know Asap for cereal

  • Anybody else think Vanille is similar to Luna Lovegood?

  • She kinda runs like Yuna did in X-2

  • Hope's face at 3:36 I LOVE! haha :)

  • "No day dreaming now! ;)"

  • Does anybody else think that Hope sounds just like Sora from Kingdom Hearts?

  • What episode thing is this?

  • Vanille?Lolz i fail i thought it was Vanilla.

  • @blackcry22 Thats the name of my dog.... lol

  • Hope is a freaking elf.

  • OMG vaille voice was so horrible in japanese!! She sounds a bit better in english ;\

BUT HOPE IS SO FREAKIN CUTE!!! :D

  • LOL I looove Hope's face at 3:36 XD

  • all the voice acting in this game rocks well i dont like vanille's voice because half the time i'm trying to figure what accent she is (i know she's austialln or have the accent)

  • When I first started the game I just kept wishing that someone would bang Hope so he could grow some balls! I didn't care if it was Lightning, Vanille, Snow, Fang, Cid, his dad, the pope, etc x'D He got a lot better towards the end, but it was unbearable to have him in my party in the beginning.

The only reason why I even remotely respect Hope is because he acted his age. When I learned his age I felt bad for my thoughts, cause if I was in his situation at that age I would have hung myself >w>

  • My God the voice acting in this game is atrocious. It's the worst trope and garbage that you hear in every shitty anime cliche.

FEEL FREE, developers, to go play a game like Uncharted 2 and learn what good voice acting actually is. God this is awful. Especially Vanille. I'd rather drive a freaking ice-pick through my ear than listen to her ever again.

  • Vinccent martella has a Smexy voice!!! : )

  • Unlike some FF's where specific characters seem to be just along for the ride, I felt every character was very significant in this game. Vanille and Hope are some of the greats. I think the voice actors did a great job. But of course, its hard to beat Light.

  • lol, their voices are awesome!

  • sounds like sex

  • 2:13 2:19 MAJOR ORGASM!! xDD

  • I was so happy they gave Vanille an australian accent :D It suits her, and I like hearing my own accent in a game for once XD

  • Wow. It's amazing how much an accent improves Vanille's voice. And here I thought I'd be hearing the same high-pitched vanilla voice you get in loads of RPG healers.

  • It was nice to have a high pitched sunshine and rainbows character that had an accent for once, it really did seperate her from the other hundreds of characters of that type in my opinion, and I think her accent suited her perfectly.

  • Yup, yup. I really do love the voice acting in this game generally. Hope, for one thing, actually sounds like a 14-year-old boy, unlike many young guys that look like him in JRPG's, which is just FANTASTICAL to me. Then there's the fact that there's audible strain and emotion in their voices. Right, I'm done gushing.

  • Hope probably is my favorite voice in the game. I just feel the voice actor really sold it there, even moreso after seeing the japanese version of Hope... the voice just seemed so unfitting there.

  • @BreakOutTheLobsters the english voice acter for Hope was fantastic, but it didn't like his dialogue of attitude at all.

  • Dunno. Haven't played the game. *shrug*

  • Compared to the others, I think Vanille is unrealistic. Here they are, trying to save their asses from danger around every corner, and Vanille just parades around like they're on a picnic. I just want Lightning to smack some sense into her.. cause if I was this cute sweet lil girl in this same situation, I'd be nervous as hell. This is my first impression of her(I'm at disk 2 beginning). I just hope I get a better explanation as to why she's so 'carefree'. And if not, well that's Square for you.

  • By the end of the game, there is pretty good reason as to why she acts like that. I felt that she was one of the most believable characters in the end, in fact.

  • oh youll see

    wait till disk 3

  • @TeoAmni On the other hand, while I haven't bought the game yet, I think it's more than likely that she's just putting on a cheerful front for the sake of the rest of the team.

  • @BreakOutTheLobsters That's sort of what it is, at the start. I am finding her more bearable later in the game, but I'm kinda wishing I could turn voices off during battle.. her noises are irritating me, lol.

  • Does the VA director really tell them to say, "Uh, ah, uh, ah, ahhh..." every few seconds? Seems kind of unnecessary, like trying to translate something Japanese to English that can't realistic translate. I mean, how many people do you know who grunt every few seconds like that? I love her walk though, lol. This game also has the most gorgeous menu design I've ever seen.

  • Yup, thats the problem with all JRPG's and anime. Surely it's common sense that if they took out all jap grunts these games would appeal to a wider audience? I'm not sure about getting ff13 yet due to the hideously unrealistic "gotta grunt every time I move otherwise they might realise I'm acting" bullshit like this vid.

  • You would be surprised how many people like those little grunts and whatnot. And, without them, all of the over exaggerated anime-esque movements would be even more akward than it is without them, i've seen things try to do what you have said before, and it was, in my opinion, worse than it is with the grunts.

  • @shane9999100 Thats fair enough then. Although as far as I can remember there are games like MGS that have much more westernised acting in it which works really well.

  • Yeah, it really depends. With some things it seems to work, with others, it doesn't. I know I definatley wouldn't want contstant grunting and groaning in something like Metal Gear Solid.

  • Personally, I think that's just them trying to do sharp breaths and whatnot, which I imagine wouldn't sound right if done for real. But that's just me.

  • The accents are like that on purpose. It's a Final Fantasy game, the accents are unique to reflect the fact that it's different from reality. Ever played Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of The Lions on PSP? That game has everyone speaking in a mix of Shakespearean era and Victorian (Charles Dickens) English.

  • It's a Final Fantasy game. The accents are usually off on purpose to reflect how different it is from reality. Have you ever played Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of The Lions on PSP? That game has everyone speaking in a mix of Shakespearean era and Victorian (Charles Dickens) English.

  • You guys are all dumb. She does not switch her accent. She has a slight australian accent its not as thick as Fang's. Learn other languages idiots.

  • You're right, she doesn't 'switch accents', but her vocal pronunciation is so inconsistent sometimes you can't even tell. There are certain points where she DOES sound like somewhat American, sometimes, English. If you can't recognise that, you seem to be the only one then.

  • Vanille's voice goes back and forth from American to Australian to even British. What the hell? And why did Hope push her off at the end of the vid? Still, Hope reminds me of Sora from Kingdom Hearts, but I can't really think of why.

  • Haha, Hope reminds me of Sora too :). I think it's his voice :D.

  • her accent is SO inconsistent, wouldn't be as terrible if it was just one accent.

  • @alrdd sad part is thts how the actress rlly tlks. tlk about selective, lol

  • no i heard her voice

  • Not really, sounded like they crashed.

  • 2:13 - 2:18 I'm sorry, but it sounds like there having sex. Lol.

  • What about Hope? I think his voice is mega cute and innocent =3

  • The only annoying thing about Vanille is how she seems to have an accent at some point and at another it's gone! lol. Loved the scene were she showed her l'cie mark tho :p

  • Vanille doesn't seem that bad. She's token perky girl.

  • So glad I have the Japanese version.

Vanille's voice is like a knife stabbing into my ears.

  • Amen to that brother, glad I didnt have to sit through 54+ hours of this lol.

  • .. vanille's voice is annoying as hell.

  • I feel that Vanille's English VA does the character a lot better than her Japanese counterpart. Even Japanese players complained about how annoying Yukari sounded lol.

The VA for this is indeed Australian.

  • someone should do a poop of all the grunting, i think it would be hilarious!

  • Now day dreaming now.

  • seeing as Vanille is from Pulse and the people of Cocoon generally hate Pulse dwellers, maybe she was trying not to speak in an obvious "Pulse" accent (represented by the australian accent in the game) as to avoid suspicion. Thus resulting in this strange mixed up accent.

    But yeah whatever :P

  • it looks a lot like 12

  • OMG IT CAME OUT 2day!!!

  • Australian girl trying to talk like a moeblob kawaii girl I lol'd

  • Her voice seems change when she is in battle. I'm going to withhold an opinion on her voice until I can play this myself.

  • shit is nice

  • Her voice is so... @_x squeaky... and she changes accents, too.

  • Her voice is actually one of my favorites from the game. It grows on you.

  • @shane9999100 I really hope that happens with me cause so far what I heard I dont like it x_x

  • @shane9999100

I agree Shane. I fell in love with her voice and character. Unlike a lot of the perky female characters like Yuffie and Rikku, she actually has a deeper story and she's very significant. Her voice seems consistent in my opinion. It's just some of the words/phrases she says that don't have an accent but it's definitely there. She sounds better than the Japanese VA. Hope sounds awesome too, and he's the guy who plays the red head on Phineas and Ferb. LOL

  • Same.

I thought i'd hate her when i first saw it, but now shes like one of my favourite characters.

  • meh, it happens with a number of people from australia, somehow it happens a lot more when we are on recorded media.

Though it may just be the fact that as an Australian, I am not used to hearing an australian accent outside of news programs.
