This might have been done in good intentions, but the coriolis effect is much weaker than if you pour the water into bowl to give it the rotation you want.

it's ignorant. 1st, as said before, the effect is too weak over the bowl's 30 cm.

2nd, they completely have it wrong. It's anticlockwise in the NORTHERN hemisphere. Hurricanes hitting Florida are anticlockwise! Hurricanes hitting Australia are clockwise!

they are not. they are supposed to show the same idea, which is conservation of angular momentum of a fluid speeding up as it "drains" into the center. In a hurricane, it's draining upwards of warm air. this water swirling is just draining inward due to gravity.

The Coriolis force is simply too weak to affect such small bodies of water.

Period. You can math it out in your college physics classes. we did. The Coriolis effect is pitiful compared to the fluid dynamic forces that the drain can force into the water/drain system.

If you were really serious about testing this you would've let the water settle, sit completely still, before you let the water drain.

Besides, Coriolis Effect doesn't affect something so insignificant. It's like gravity, we all exert it, but we're not drawn to each other the way we're drawn to larger planets.
