WOW! Yes that was scary!

But surely the slower car should have been over to the right more.  It's all about placement.

Thankfully things like that don't happen every lap. And having races like this in broadly different cars, is a very worthwhile exercise.

@arachn1dinshoe Plus - that escape was also a matter of AWESOME track design.

Obviously some geek on a computer plotting the track and barriers realised that was a possibility and provided a massive runoff area complete with perfect sand pitt.

they clearly shouldnt be sharing the track, they are dangerously different in speeds.

the 944 driver picked a really bad place to stop :(

expected him to be on line leaving room to left but turns out he had an issue and stayed on the lhs line i took - leaving only a dirt path at 270kph. yep,very lucky. closing speeds on the 944's generally are very quick - just a bit quicker in this case. went on for 3 rd on a very rain interupted bathurst weekend so could have been ( a lot ) worse

having to navigate past 944's is not easy at any time - looks like he missed the turn in point for the chase, and had to evade the traffic.... very lucky escape !!! could have ended in tears..
