@eddievdg1 this is what would fall under the category "midi controller" in that it controls midi information. You would need a program that can translate that midi information (popularly: audio programs on your computer)

If you wanted a device that didn't need a computer, you would have to find a synthesizer or sampler instrument. There are many different types of synthesizer instruments to choose from, but they are several times more expensive than midi controllers.

Now looking into purchasing the ableton live and eventually the midi... how difficult is the Ableton Live program? Keep up the good work!

@maryland218 Thank you very much. It is very easy to scratch the surface and begin having fun with Ableton Live. The program comes with an excellent set of built-in tutorials that take about 30-45 minutes to complete, and which will leave you primed for good experimentation. You'll definitely have fun.

@JamesCmuse I'd recommend downloading a demo of Ableton Live. This midi controller was designed specifically to control that program. The ease of its use and its possibilities are entirely dependent upon your knowledge of and abilities with the Ableton Live program.
